I agree! I saw bits of Frank Gorshin's portrayal. And you know, it makes sense, because Riddler is a DEEPLY histrionic guy who will lose his shit as soon as he feels his ego being threatened.
Just seen it today yeah he pulled off a intimidating version of the Riddler once the mask was off he definitely represented the Riddler pretty accurately it was great casting.
I really love the Zodiac Killer aesthetic they took with Eddie, if you're going to reinvent the Riddler you may as well base him on a serial killer who left clues for the police. I'd like to see what other real life criminals they'd base other villains on. I think Scarecrow could be similar to a Unabomber type for example, sending fear toxin to random people to create a panic as an experiment. "Society is run by fear. Ruled by the terror instilled in you at a young age. Let's see what happens when they fear something much worse than a police cudgel."
@@rikardandersson183 yeah doesn’t make sense that he is wearing a military winter mask and would have been cooler to look like the riddler at least a green jumpsuit would have been okay for me with him wearing his glasses
@@rikardandersson183 Catwoman’s meant to be in her prototype stage so the ski mask was deliberate to show she hasn’t fully transformed into catwoman yet. Riddler’s mask for me personally looked fantastic but that’s my opinion.
@@mrbluesky4838 What about Batman's shitty non-stylistic costume then? It's clearly ment to be "realistic" cause the director is ashamed of the source material and asume that a vigilante who dress up as a bat and gets the OK by the cops will be more beleivable if his costume is intentionally ugly and functional when in fact the bat-motiff only gets more ridiculous the more realistic Batman gets Sure, if you prefer a Riddler who looks like a pedophile kidnapper with no superhero aestetics They could have used Zazz or Calendar instead then if the classic The Riddler is to ridiculous for Revees grounded and realistic vision
@@roygiron4001 - the "extreme cold" military green mask makes sense because it's easy to buy in any random army surplus, so it's impossible to track the buyers down, which makes sense if he intended for his followers to wear the same... Plus it's great for crime scenes, as it prevent any hair or sweat/saliva/blood to be left on the scene, and it also prevents blood from the victims and other stuff like gunpowder to get on him. He just has to wash his green parka/mask combo when he gets home, and doesn't have to worry about the rest.
Honestly even though it’s not completely accurate to the comics, this riddler still has the spirit of the riddler in terms of personality. He’s still desperate for attention, delusional, and narcissistic as ever.
So this Riddler is basically a mix of Nygma with Anarky (killing corrupts) and Hush (jealous of Bruce Wayne). Either way I actually like this version of riddler (being scary and at the same time sympathetic is basically Bat rogues main formula). I don't mind if he return in a sequel. In fact, I would love if the Reeves Batman's trilogy end with Arkham Asylum movie, where Riddler and other Arkham Inmates (my pitch: Joker, Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, Killer Croc and Poison Ivy) take over the Asylum has to fight all of them.
If they do a Arkham Asylum movie I’d love to see some other more obscure but still insane and even creepy rogues appear as well. Could be a good way to showcase Calendar Man, Mad Hatter, and Professor Pyg for example, as villains who could enhance the Asylum’s atmosphere, and work well for a scene or two, but would be harder to make work for a full movie as the main villain. Also I’d suggest maybe have Hugo Strange be the main rogue in it, with him essentially orchestrate the take over to study Batman, and his effect on the inmates.
@@MechaSandvich Totally agreed. They could have Mad Hatter and the Ventriloquist as the villains in the second movie, then end the trilogy with Arkham Asylum movie, with Hugo Strange manipulating the fight between Batman and the arkham inmates (who I think should be Joker, Riddler, Mad Hatter, Ventriloquist, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn)
In my opinion, this is the best reimagining that Eddie has gotten since they made him a private detective in the comics( before the new 52 reboot destroyed that). I mean, when was the last in the comics that Eddie was depicted as an actual threat or challenge? And the best part of the movie is that Eddie manages to harm Batman without ever having to physically fight him once! Not a single punch was thrown between them, their conflict was always a battle of wits and cunning. I wouldn’t want this to become Eddie’s depiction going forward in the current comics however. It would be too off putting there, plus with other serial killers like Victor Zazz around, that would cause Eddie to stand out less.
Yes it’s a great alternate riddler but not something I’d want in the mainline comics. It’s essentially to Riddler what Heath Ledger was to Joker, a great alternate version for a specific story.
I feel like Zero Year made him a serious threat in the comics. I enjoyed his portrayal in it despite having rather mixed opinions about the story as a whole
I liked how threatening and scary he was in this movie. Very reminiscent of the Zodiac Killer. Makes me question how Scarecrow would be like in Matt Reeves’ Batman universe
Considering how the Riddler was basically the Zodiac Killer, I think would make Scarecrow into a real life Freedy Krueger (specially if he took inspiration from the Arkham games with his visual).
I know it's a really, really, really minor thing to point out, but, can we take a moment and just absolutely appreciate how Reeves shows us how villains like The Riddler and others gets their goons who'll do anything for them? It has always puzzled me how not only these goons just follow their orders, but even afterwards, they don't turn their back on them when the chance is presented. I really love how Reeves used the whole conspiracy cult-like nature and mannerisms to create The Riddler's followers and how dangerously dedicated they've become.
Every time Riddler was on screen, I was completely shook with fear in the theater. Big round of applause for Paul Dano btw. This depiction of Eddie kinda gave me Jigsaw vibes with a hint of John Doe from se7en.
There is an Original Movie Novel that takes place before the events of The Batman which go into more depth with both batman and riddler's origin as well as why Edward hates bruce so much. As we know from the movie, Edward Nashton grew up in the Gotham Orphanage, who neglected and shunned by his peers for his love of riddles and puzzles. However Edward's hated for Bruce came when had a bitter interaction with him at a young age, in which Bruce smiled at Edward, which he took as his way of saying he was better than them because of his money. When he was seventeen, Edward got a job as a delivery boy at an Italian restaurant known as Fumento's, so then he could pay for his education. One day, Edward noticed an illegal race with a group of rich teenagers being set up through Gotham, all most running him over in the process. Edward decided to finally get back at them by placing an explosive in the car of a racer known as Dex Starling. A few days later, he put his plan into action, hoping to cause a pileup and seriously hurt the racers, but another racer who happened to be Bruce helped out Dex and a pileup was avoided, much to Edward's disappointment. The novel then cuts to years later where Edward has secured a job in forensics, and, after driving past it, decided to destroy his old home of Gotham Orphanage, due to all his bitter memories there. A few nights later, he snuck in and pulled the fire alarm, alerting everyone in the place to go outside, allowing him to douse the building in gasoline and burn it to the ground. I would recommend the novel as I think it immerses you even more into these characters lives and the world they live in.
They actually do explain why Edward uses riddles in his crimes when the cops find his creepy apartment and his rambling journals. He says something like to make a real difference it’s not good enough to show the people the truth, you gotta torture them with the hard questions.
I think besides him just growing up with puzzles, the reason they gave for him using riddles is so the people of Gotham can figure out what he's trying to tell them for themselves, which leaves a bigger impact than if he just shot all of his targets and told everyone everything all at once.
My personal favorite scene with the Riddler was with the scene of Colson and his three riddles, it was one of the most Riddler scenes other than the interrogation scene, it's really reminiscent of the Arkham series Riddler with his Saw-like traps and sadistic remarks to his victims about their predicament. I seriously enjoyed this Riddler a lot and Paul Dano did a great job performing as him. Let's hope he'll wear a suit when he appears again
Speaking of the Arkham series Riddler, this Riddler reminded me of Wally Wingart’s Riddler because of his voice and mood swings. I don’t know why I think of it, it just sounds like it
@@mikephelps9238 I can definitely see that, Arkham Riddler and The Batman's Riddler are pretty similar surprisingly especially in Arkham Origins where both Eddies fought corrupt in questionable ways with Wingert's blackmailing the city with information and Dano's killing corrupt public officials while using the network as their weapon.
@@veryheavyalan good point on that. I just think that the big difference with the two incarnations is the fact that Wingart’s Riddler hates Batman with a passion, while Dano’s Riddler is a fan of Batman but loathes Bruce Wayne (ironic).
I absolutely loved Eddie in the film, I was scared he would be fairly serious though, but thankfully Dano portrays with a quirky edge to him that I loved. My new favourite Batman movie villain
He also reminds me the Arkham riddler for death machines, appearing on screen from cameras, showing his question mark shining by detective lights and the orphanage just like in the games
I liked what Riddler was in this movie, even if he took a few ques from Anarky. I hope in future movies that he is unmasked and puts on a more traditional suit to flaunt how smart he is for escaping and so forth. I just hope we don't see Joker for a long time because that reference was the one thing that annoyed me.
I feel this Riddler reminded me QUITE A LOT of the Lady Arkham character from "Batman: The Telltale Series." While there's a good deal of Telltale DNA in this film, in general, the whole "traumatic childhood brought about by alleged Wayne family corruption" angle is very much in the same vein. Personally, I wonder if they shouldn't have gone with Hush as the antagonistic of this film. Aside from the fact that this Riddler visually resembles Hush a decent amount, there's also that bit in the film where the reporter that Thomas inadvertently got killed was name dropped as an "Elliott" (likely parent of Tommy Elliott/Hush). There probably setting this up for a sequel, but I think it might've been more poignant to lead with that now, while the Wayne corruption is at the forefront, focusing on the character most effected. Sure, Riddler was negatively impacted, but he was already an orphan, regardless of Thomas Wayne's actions. I just could have seen them doing Hush, as it'd be a new film Batman villain that still could have brought out the detective side of Batman in that there's always a considerable mystery surrounding him, at least at first. What do you all think?
Personally, I don't actually find this version of Riddler all that memorable. He's mainly memorable because he IS the Riddler, and yet so different from the usual version - if he called himself something else and was in another movie, he'd probably fade into the background of my mind pretty quickly. I mean, don't get me wrong; Paul Dano's performance is good and everything, but he's a bit too reminiscent of other villains from movies that 'The Batman' is clearly emulating - mainly, John Doe from 'Seven'. I keep getting the two of them mixed up in my head - very different motivations, of course, and John Doe is more spectacularly grotesque, but the overall vibe is very similar. Only time will tell, of course - but for right now, most of what I'm remembering from 'The Batman' is pretty much all of the stuff that DIDN'T feature the Riddler.
Don't know where else to put it. Been a fan of your vids for about a year and a half now and my fav of your videos have always been your history of videos for batman's main villains. Way better than anything else on youtube and I keep liking to go back to those. I am aware you did a cool one for mad hatter with another youtuber which was also a great vid. I was thinking it would be cool if you do those types of vids for batman's other villains I think that'd be great. But what matters is you do what you think is the most fun. always will be down to watch what you put out.
A Batman movie I want to see get made is one in the style of a Tim Burton movie or have the atmosphere of the arkham games with Scarecrow as the main villain and either Clayface or the Mad Hatter as the secondary villain. I think they could really push Batman psychologically.
If Riddler returns i dont think he Will wear that outfit again He might get a more comic book accurate outfit Since the entire point why he was in disguise was so that he could finish his plans while still living in his house aka the final piece of the puzzle After this everyone would know Who he Is so that bag wouldnt be needed
From what I remember, the reason for his use of riddles was a combination of his love of them, and because he wanted to punish people by leaving them in confusion, the same confusion he was left with as a forgotten child.
I completely get people who aren't too big on the way they reworked the Riddler, character and design wise, but I really liked it. It felt completely necessary to me given how wacky the last version of the Riddler we got on film was, and I really liked the added dose of realism with the whole Zodiac inspired design. Plus I think making the Riddler a more serious villain would've been near impossible without changing up his costume, it works in the comics but I personally don't think I could take him seriously in live-action if he had the hat and suit all branded with question marks, and that's coming from someone who'd put Riddler on his top 5 Batman villains. Unlike a lot of Batman villains I don't think that the Riddler's design is that important to his character, compared to the likes of say the Joker, Two-Face, the Penguin, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy or Killer Croc. If you had to give a brief summary of all of those other characters you'd need to address their appearance at some point, Riddler though its all his personality and his actions that make him who he his. Whilst they did lean a lot more into the unhinged psychopath idea with him, I agree with you that like any good reimagining they maintained the core of the comic character, he made a game out of people's lives and even though he claimed to have a noble goal unlike comic Riddler, it was still driven by ego much like his actions in the comics are. It's definitely not what I'd call the definitive Riddler, but it's a great alternate take and probably my new favorite take on the character in certain aspects.
Riddler (Paul Dano) is one of the best Portrayls of Batman Villains in Cinematic History. I really think this version of the Prince of Puzzles is very fantastic and amazing. I think Dano did a fantastic job as Riddler, he really gave it all for his character in The Batman. I do feel he has a point of how corruption has converted on him and other public civilians of Gotham, and wants to take society back for him, and even defeat Batman. I feel like him and Penguin were fantastic in the film, and of course Penguin has his own Tv Show on HBO Max with Colin Farrell returning as his character from the movie. I think the design for Riddler looks okay, I mean it doesn't look like classic as you said, but I think it's great and good for a guy who is portrayed as a sympathetic and horror rogue even in a Batman film. If I would rank Paul Dano's Riddler, I'd give him a 9/10, In my opinion, Dano really did good with the character, I know Jim Carrey as Riddler was great as well but I like both of them, whether the take on the character is good or mid-good, I would like to see Colin Farrelll's Penguin appear next. Thank you for reviewing Paul Dano's Riddler from The Batman, I am so happy I have watched the final video of Batman Movie Villains, I am so happy that I watched every single Batman movie rogue on your channel. The next category I am going to watch is the Top 5 Best Cartoons of the three Batman Villains : Catwoman, Two Face and Riddler, can't wait for that. Thank you again, Have a good day, and I will see you in the next video. Bye!!!
I like that he wasn't handsome. Charismatic to a point yes but they didn't feel the need to cast some insane, crowd drawing movie star or to make him look like he could handle Bruce in a fight. he can't, he'd get whooped in an instant but he's also just clever enough, just fringe enough, just crazy enough to be dangerous in a way we've seen way too much of IRL. The fact that they changed his surname is inexcusable though. A billionaire dressed up like a bat and a man in a green rain slicker leaving riddles all over the place and somehow calling him Nygma would be "too silly."
@@CreeperthanPasta yea and I hate the retcon in comics canon too. We've already got a man in green spandex covered in question marks and the name is a bridge too far somehow.
One thing I thought about when it comes to come the riddles he sends to Batman is that Riddler is testing Batman, testing to see if he is smart enough to be his partner, that's why Riddler says "you're really not as smart as I thought you were" in the Arkham scene, coz he's disappointed with Batman
As much as I love Corey Michael Smith's S3 "Riddler" Suit in Gotham, I honestly like his outfit here. It's different, but it has some hallmarks of the character's classic design, such as the question mark, the green color scheme and glasses.
I was so prepared to hate this Riddler but now having seen it I can't even understand how people are saying it's out of character. He even has that showmanship but more in a Saw sort of way. I typically don't like a violent Riddler (looking at you Tom King) but this was good. I think cause he was more calculated and sparing with his violence. It was more controlled than in the War of Jokes and Riddles.
As much as he is Riddler on the inside, considering his new motivations and appearance and methods with traps and rats, this version of Nygma could really easily have been converted into a terrifying version of Ratcatcher.
You could cover Falcone if you want to do more movie villain vids for this movie, since he's more of a main antagonist than any other mob boss Batman movie villains (and sure as hell isn't gonna need any effort for an update video since, you know, obviously). Also, the opening freeze frame made me realize you technically never covered the '66 movie villains, so I'm coming for you with my legal team
I basically completely agree. On the surface, this is a very different Riddler. But if you look close enough, the personality quirks I was hoping to get adapted did make it in. He still had the need for attention, still treated the whole thing as a game, and still was a weird guy that doesn't need to be made 'cool' but instead is just left eccentric
I was really hyped to see Paul Dano’s Riddler on big screen and he was great, I have one complaint though, SPOILERS AHEAD lol I really prefer when he’s raised in abusive home rather than orphanage. We have other orphan villains and Edward’s past with abusive father hits more imo, especially when we look at him struggling with his OCD. This is also what Arkham games did so well, his obsessions over Batman are grounded within his relationship with father. And slowly within Arkhamverse we see Edward falling more and more into the pit, trying to prove everyone wrong and lying to himself about his greatness. This could fit so well to Paul Dano’s Riddler as well, sure then the whole Wayne’s orphanage renovation drama is less effective to play, but this could also show that being raised abusive family is as bad as being raised in orphanage, and that problems in Gotham and evil seed is spread all over and no one is safe from it. Also, not to throw mental issues cards for attention, but as person clinically diagnosed with OCD - I was always finding Edward being kind of comfort character for me and I have shit tons of empathy towards him, because I know what bullshit OCD can produce in human’s head. It’s constant voice of doubt putting thoughts in your head and forcing you into shit you find absolutely pointless. And damn Dano’s Riddler and his actions were so well made, this is really S tier writting there, Reeves done his research. And sure, orphanage is also not healthy place for troubled kid to grow, but just imo for Edward’s origin the abusive father story is fitting better. Sure, we are losing the „connection” of Riddler and Bruce being two sides of same coin, but there’s so much more strings you could pull. Anyway, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk lol.
This Riddler is quite similar to Edward Nigma (Enigma) in Batman: Arkham Origins. In the videogame, he wants to make justice of his own by exposing to public the corruption in Gotham's politics and especially the police. And also in the videogame he asks help to Batman. So yeah, that is a great point of the movie. Now, something odd I discovered is that while the Batman Forever version of Riddler succeeded with his outfit but failed with his personality and motivations, The Batman version of Riddler succeeded with his personality and motivations but failed with his outfit. Another thing is that this Riddler from The Batman seems to be heavily inspired in the real life assasin known as Zodiac, who was never caught by police and his modus operandi focuses on letting encripted messages and riddles to the police. The Riddler's outfit even ressembles the one Zodiac presumably used during his crime spree. But in general, this Riddler from The Batman is WAY BETTER than the Jim Carrey version of Batman Forever. Thanks for the video, Rogues.
I think the idea of wanting approval and him in part being motivated by that was still there, it's just he wanted it from Batman on a moral level, that they are the same kinds of people, and are working together. In regards to the puzzles we see in his apartment with all the cyphers and riddles and can see he's a bit obsessed. I don't think his intentions are noble, maybe he had em at one point but he's all twisted , he doesn't actually try to make things better, he kills a few corrupt people and then tries to drown a whole lot more people, he doesn't really want to fix things or help, he just wants to kill people and feel richeous about it
Who would you want as a villain in the next Matt Reeves Batman movie 🎥? I think despite not matching his classic visual design I think it made for a great viewing experience making him a zodiac killer like design. Despite that not matching his MO in the comic’s much… not to say he hasn’t killed or targeted anyone before…. Because we both he has. I like that despite being a C list villain he’s been getting a lot of recognition and seen as a serious threat as of late. Like how he was Hush in the animated movie and this kinda makes you think of that as well. Though it cast aside Thomas Elliot character in the movie it did make things less confusing when adopting that in movie format though fans complained about it, I actually liked it and considered it was something the Riddler would really do to up the anti be given the recognition he think’s he so richly deserves and to flaunt his superiority over the Batman as well as other villains of Gotham he’s been upstaged by, what do you think?
I feel like seeing the ending of the movie. It'll be a riddler and joker team up in the future if Matt reeves is told to make a trilogy. So I imagine he'll have a flashy green costume due to the fact his identity is now known
I have a feeling if we get more of the riddler it would probably be in an insoluble role with different batman villians along side him, perhaps in an arkham asylum break out or take over movie down the line
Riddler in the first 80% of the movie: “If you are justice, then please do not lie… what is the price for your blind eye?” Riddler in the last 20% of the movie: “What’s up everyone! It’s your boy, The Riddler, back again with another livestream, and TODAY, guys, we are going to break into the mayor’s house and murdering him for the world to see. But first… riddle me this-what would really make my day? And the answer is YOU, hitting that subscribe button and notification bell if you haven’t already, and even better, donating to my Patreon so you can help me expose the truth about this cesspool of a city…”
How do you make a ridiculous villain character terrifying? Use the aesthetics of a real criminal who legitimately did leave puzzles for police, and was never caught. It rings true because it is true.
My only and I mean ONLY problem with this version of the Riddler is the lack of any iconic parts of the costume. More question marks and a bowler hat (yes it could’ve worked, there are plenty of horror movie/tv villains or movie/tv serial killers that wear hats). At the end of the day this is a soft-origin movie for the characters of Gotham City. Maybe the Joker will give Eddie some pointers in having a more presentational style. Also I’m glad they kept his victims as corrupt officials. The only time I’ll accept the Riddler killing someone is if they’re a corrupt official or their actively getting in the way of his plans. He reminded me of a really dark serial killer version of Frank Gorshin’s Riddler. I’m just glad the Riddler will finally get the respect he deserves. D-Lister my a- you Riddler hating fools!!!
Overall I liked this different take on Riddler for what it was, although it still doesn't top Jim Carrey's Riddler in "Batman Forever," for me. That being said, I think a big part of why they left him alive and hinted he will return is so that he can evolve into something more akin to his traditional, comicbook form. I guess time will tell.
(SPOILERS) One think I think is that if the Riddler does comeback, the Joker will convince him to embrace his flamboyant side. So I suspect we might still have a chance at seeing the classic suit.
When you Finnaly see him without the mask he really does work well as Kinda-Joker of this movie Though his motivation is more Toward of "social Anarchy" or vengence toward the Rich/elite.. Still he was great villain though DC having to make some of their villains into psychos/having a harsh childhood is a bit of a cliche. And even tho BATMANS rogues gallery has some dark backstories DC prob tries to "elevated" some of the Non-ppsycho ones by making them Grim and Edgy/dark.Killer Moth or Condiment King will prob have Abusive dads and are total psychos in the next movies/tv shows
I was relieved when I saw Riddler acted looney and after he was unmasked he was almost 100% the Riddler from the comics. However, I do hate the hideous brownish dull green clothes from the poster. Thankfully he doesn't look as bad in the actual movie.
Just seen it mr rogues articulated what I was thinking all the same stuff. did dislike the design at first but it weirdly just works for what they was going for he had pitch of a horror movie theme too him kind had to make him mysterious. And once he was unmask he was 100% comic book Riddler or like Riddler from the 60s. Was impressed by Penguin 🐧 as well. Catwoman she a hot lady but she as big w0ke comment in the movie a tad bit racey.

Batman does not catch the Riddler. A police officer points to the window Eddie shot from and because Batman was too late to catch him an eyewitness tells the police she noticed a man race into the dinner where he was planning on getting captured by police. Not a surprise seeing how this Batman doesn't prevent Riddler from killing anyone, even accidentally propitiated in one and created a car pileup chasing after a suspect who knew nothing. This Batman also is rude towards his butler and acts the very same in and out of costume. To show that Batman is as unhinged as the Riddler they BOTH keep Zodiac Killer style diaries. First Bruce Wayne who does not donate money but considering giving a family house for orphans by his father created Eddie's suffering. Finally "The Batman" sees the error of his ways(punching bad guys and trying to solve crimes) he becomes a volunteer firefighter at the end. Personally as a comic book fan I do not enjoy Matt Reeves' writing making sport of my hero but hey he did do it in a manner most people wont realize they were being made fun of.
And Batman creating more problems then he solves was on purpose. Reeves said in a recent interview in the New York Times. “There’s a part of you that wants to see somebody get vengeance - that’s the wish fulfillment of that idea. What was important was to bring the audience along and make them question it, so that they’d be like, Wait, is that right? Is that really what we should be doing?”
My favourite portrayal of the riddler ever and the outfit is so good for the movie. The original riddler outfit is so corny and stupid I’ve never liked it …
Well, he looks better than the Grapefruit Joker. I'm getting a punk rock theme from the DCEU's Batman Rogues though. You got Meth addict Joker, WW2 jacket with gimp mask Riddler & Shredded clothes Harley.
At least it's better than the one from The Batman cartoon who looks more like Marilyn Manson rather than the actual Riddler. Even though he has a tragic backstory whose life was ruined by his gold digging girlfriend.

Let's just face reality. If there is a campy joker era, they'll make campy riddler. When comes a dark and sinister joker era, than they'll do a dark and sinister riddler. Riddlers fate is obviously to be a cheap version of joker. I love the character, but this is what the creators are doing with him. They simply want to earn as much as possible, from every trend. So they sell the same shit all over again, just with different variations. Till the trend doesn't go away.
I loathe his costume design. At least give him a green bowler hat. And the Penguin needs at least a top hat. Catwoman needs more cat design to her outfit. I didn’t see the film, just the trailer. Not sure if I’m going to see it because the costume design of the villains are really poor. And outlandish costumes are a major factor in what makes a villain/hero achieve their “super” status. Hopefully these villains get a proper design later in the franchise.
Please do a video on Zoe Kravitz Catwoman. What you mentioned about it is all the more reason to make the video. Or at least do the Halle Berry version instead, which is superior. I like how in her most Catwoman scene, she puts on a pink wig and gets her ass kicked by her dad. Sigh. There was potential in Zoe Kravitz as a casting choice. It ended up being the caliber of a television streaming drama. Kravitz has had magazine photo shoots more captivating and interesting than her take on “Selina Kyle.” I don’t care if there’s sequels to flesh her out. A movie is a movie. Halle Berry was better.
I’m starting to hate Tom Wayne more and more, and maybe possibly Bruce Wayne’s mum if her done anything wrong, also the only thing I don’t like about this version of the riddler because The reason why is he looks like the scarecrow with a green colour scheme
I was scared that Eddie is gonna be too serious, but he has this theatricality and giddyness in him, that every Riddler should
Imagine how terrifying would Scarecrow be in this universe seeing how scary Riddler was.
Nah, it was a boring look, ment to be realistic rather than evoke comicbook aestetics
Same goes for Catwoman's mask
@@rikardandersson183 yeah doesn’t make sense that he is wearing a military winter mask and would have been cooler to look like the riddler at least a green jumpsuit would have been okay for me with him wearing his glasses
@@rikardandersson183 Catwoman’s meant to be in her prototype stage so the ski mask was deliberate to show she hasn’t fully transformed into catwoman yet. Riddler’s mask for me personally looked fantastic but that’s my opinion.
@@mrbluesky4838
What about Batman's shitty non-stylistic costume then? It's clearly ment to be "realistic" cause the director is ashamed of the source material and asume that a vigilante who dress up as a bat and gets the OK by the cops will be more beleivable if his costume is intentionally ugly and functional when in fact the bat-motiff only gets more ridiculous the more realistic Batman gets
Sure, if you prefer a Riddler who looks like a pedophile kidnapper with no superhero aestetics
They could have used Zazz or Calendar instead then if the classic The Riddler is to ridiculous for Revees grounded and realistic vision
Well yes ...
Maybe the only reason he ISN'T obsessed with proving himself smarter than everyone is because of the validation he gets from his followers.
He’s a Hush-wannabe Mister Clue.
Anarky doesn’t kill people, but yeah.
@@bibbyboxx2219 He kills two people in his first apperance. One of them he killed in television, annuncing his message to Gotham.
In my opinion he’s the most terrifying live action Batman villain we’ve seen since Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight
Agreed
The PI Riddler was gone before the start of the new 52. See Tony Daniel's Dick Grayson Batman run
Riddler was extremely disturbing, and I’m still creeped out when I see Paul Dano’s interviews. Very well done rogue!
I’m all in for that
I want to see Mr Freeze and Two face
That's exactly what I was thinking, scarecrow would be awesome
He was pretty good.
Yes definitely has hints of seven ..
I like that this riddler is still just a narcissist who wants attention and is just dressing that up with a veneer of cleaning up Gotham
Finally a good live action film Riddler.
I like that he's a Soulja Boy fan. What's black and blue and *dead* all over?
YOOOOOOOOOOU
Was waiting for this video!
I love that you got Ava Maria.
The best movie riddler by far.
I loved the part when the Riddler makes a car noise and does a live stream saying "YOU CAME" stuff is so scuffed and I love it
Just got back from seeing this movie yesterday and I completely agree.
You captured my thoughts perfectly! I was pleasantly suprised by The Riddler.
As a big Riddler fan I was really satisfied with this take on the character.
I'm a huge fan as well, but this wasn't the Riddler. At all..
Glad to see this series back!
If Riddler returns i dont think he Will wear that outfit again
He might get a more comic book accurate outfit
Since the entire point why he was in disguise was so that he could finish his plans while still living in his house aka the final piece of the puzzle
After this everyone would know Who he Is so that bag wouldnt be needed
From what I remember, the reason for his use of riddles was a combination of his love of them, and because he wanted to punish people by leaving them in confusion, the same confusion he was left with as a forgotten child.
Riddler singing Ave Maria was my favorite part.
This is the first Batman movie since the 1960's one to have Riddler, Catwoman, Penguin and Joker in it
Very good villain/movie review. Always nice to get an expert opinion. ;-)
Bye!!!
Definitely my favorite live action Riddler! Couldn't have asked for better
Agree with everything said. I’m hoping this movie means more Riddler stories and appearances in the comics. Fingers crossed.
I don't know if Eddie will return in the films, but he's more than likely gonna be in the arkham spinoff on HBO Max
Riddlers last name changes between nashton and nygma.
You should make a movie villains on Carmine Falcone, he's really a bad guy and he's been the mayor of Gotham for 20 years
As much as I love Corey Michael Smith's S3 "Riddler" Suit in Gotham, I honestly like his outfit here.
Good choice of background music
No other riddler for me then him nailed it and made the character way better then he is
This Riddler reminded me heavily of your portrayal of him with his tragic backstory and name change Edward Nashton
I was really hyped to see Paul Dano’s Riddler on big screen and he was great, I have one complaint though, SPOILERS AHEAD lol
I really prefer when he’s raised in abusive home rather than orphanage.
I know Falcone is not a Batman rogue but since he was a main antagonist in this film I think your thoughts on him would be very interesting.
Not my number one favorite live action villain but definitely in the top 5
I have a feeling if we get more of the riddler it would probably be in an insoluble role with different batman villians along side him, perhaps in an arkham asylum break out or take over movie down the line
I want to see ALL Versions of The Riddler Ranked
I think it kinda hinted in the movie the riddler won’t be alone .
I like how he looks like Bill Gates once he's unmasked.
it's a shame Paul Di'anno (R.I.P.) didn't sue for bastardizing his name.
My bro and I just saw the movie it was great 👍. And the riddler was a cool villain. I wonder if there will be a part 2 ??
Riddler in the first 80% of the movie: “If you are justice, then please do not lie… what is the price for your blind eye?”
Riddler in the last 20% of the movie: “What’s up everyone!
I always thought Edward would be doing livestreams these day's
Mr rouge please make a video about marvel obscure villain.
I give him 5 stars for character portrayal.
But 1 star for design. Worked better for his henchmen/followers.
Any chance you'll read and review Paul Dano's THE RIDDLER: Year One?
Why Riddler wear a trashbag?
Overall I liked this different take on Riddler for what it was, although it still doesn't top Jim Carrey's Riddler in "Batman Forever," for me. That being said, I think a big part of why they left him alive and hinted he will return is so that he can evolve into something more akin to his traditional, comicbook form. I guess time will tell.
He also reminds me jigsaw for those death machines
(SPOILERS)
One think I think is that if the Riddler does comeback, the Joker will convince him to embrace his flamboyant side.
While it’s too early to spoil and too early to truly judge his performance. How did you like Eddie’s special friend?
Yes I can call her a villain because at least she fought Batman something Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman didn’t

Great scary villain in a Amazing movie 🔪😃
At least it's better than the one from The Batman cartoon who looks more like Marilyn Manson rather than the actual Riddler. Even though he has a tragic backstory whose life was ruined by his gold digging girlfriend.

Narcissistic. Highly Intelligent and Resourceful. Non-Violent.
Addendum: Keep the patient away from any chemicals, including simple cleaning products.
Addendum 2: Allow the patient access to the Asylum Library once a day.
Honestly he was the best part of the movie. Everyone else did a great job, from Robert Pattinson to John Turturro, but they just kind of paled in comparison.

Hey for the next one, could you do Crazy Quilt?
I don't like that they made him a serial killer
It would be just as bad as making Catwoman a serial killer
I wasn’t a fan of this version of the Riddler. I prefer that they just stick with the traditional Riddler.
Think the "eat the Rich" vibe taken too far in one direction.
I’m starting to hate Tom Wayne more and more, and maybe possibly Bruce Wayne’s mum if her done anything wrong, also the only thing I don’t like about this version of the riddler because The reason why is he looks like the scarecrow with a green colour scheme
