David, your patience and persistence is a testament to the kind of guy you are. Your determination to put your name only to the very highest standards of skill and workmanship is truly remarkable and rare in this age of mass production. I hope that Emily will keep this video and it will stay with the chair down the generations and it will be viewed many times with awe and pride. I know that George will love this chair and it will be enjoyed by many, many children. Your artistic flair for the finish and upholstery for all the pieces you bring back to life is astounding. Daisy, as always, made me smile. I am so glad that she now has a diagnosis and can be treated accordingly. You will need to work extra hard now to pay those vet bills. This comment is nearly as long as your video so I will stop now and look forward to your next post.
Thanks as always for your amazing comments of support Pamela, it really means a lot. You're not wrong about working to pay off the vets bills. 🤣🤣. She's worth every penny though. ❤️❤️
I am so happy there are people who appreciate the history of old family pieces, but even happier to see people who have the skills to bring them back from the dead. Your patience and love of restoration have paid off again. That rocker is stunning. George is a lucky duck!!!
Apropos of nothing, the thought occurred to me that your little George now has a visual record of how you fixed that chair for him, this is going to make it even more special.
Hi David, I hope that your little George loves you back the same and more and appreciates his bespoke rocking chair in the way you and it deserve. That is such a beautiful chair, obviously made with love and plenty of labour, cheers to you and much love to little gorgeous Daisy !!!!🥰😘👍👍👍🙏
Hi Frances. I haven't given it to George yet but taking it over next week. Emily has seen it though and told me she was crying at the video. ❤️ Thanks so much for your continued support, i really appreciate it 😃❤️🐶
Oh David, that is so lovely! All your blood, sweat and tears paid off in spades. I’m sure George and his family will treasure this chair for many years to come. Beautiful!
I love the outcome. The duck fabric is adorable. George is a lucky fellow. The work you put into the little rocker is awesome. It challenged you and what it taught you was outstanding. Again lucky George awesome job well done.
You took a lovely pile of kindling and made it into a proper chair! It's lovely. Always good to see our happy Daisy, hoping for the best for the sweet girl. I'm 64 and still have a little antique rocker from an aunt. My kiddo has a lovely little one my dad restored, even to redoing all the woven cane. Rest assured those rockers you did will be cherished a long time.
My goodness, you have knocked this one out of the park. What a glorious restoration and every element of it shows it was a labour of love. Many, many congratulations. The news about Daisy made my heart hurt. She is always a ray of pure sunshine. Without a doubt, she will make a full and speedy recovery. Warmest thoughts to you both from the west of Ireland.
I'm in total awe!! Talk about perseverance in the face of challenge!! All the things you had to overcome with this chair leaves me speechless. It's a beautiful restoration. You should be so proud of yourself. I'm also very happy you received the recognition from Gilboy's it's very deserved. I'm glad you found out how to treat Daisy's health issues. Wonderful post David!!
What a lesson in patience. I am sure George and his mother will love this little rocker. I hope when George is a bit older his mother shows him this video so he can see how much love and work you put into his little treasure. Glad to hear Daisy has been diagnosed and is on the way to a good thyroid level. I have been on thyroid meds for around 25 years now. The wonders of modern meds.
My Cousin was in tears when she saw the chair and how much work i'd put into it so its all worth it. Daisy is starting to get much better after being on the meds for about 6 weeks now. Thanks for caring 😃🐶❤️
What a beautiful heirloom for young George ~ So absorbing to watch. And darling Daisy, well she brings us all such joy 🤗🐶 Thank you for being the best of UA-cam !
David--what an ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL JOB you did on this chair for George!!! I sure hope he appreciates all of the painstaking efforts you put into it for him! I've been watching your channel for a couple of years now, and I just want to let you know how much I respect and appreciate your craft, and your obvious recognition of quality with the Guilboy products! Thank you for this video!
Wow! What an amazing job! Chairs are so difficult, and rocking chairs nearly impossible, based solely on my experience with aged chairs failing. Your patience and talent is a great gift to your cousins. George is a very lucky boy! Congratulations on the Gilboys connection/sponsorship. Lucky for us viewers as well! The shine on that finish is perfect. Thank you for another wonderful video! It’s a cork to Daisy for me. ❤
Super happy Daisy is going to be fine. She's adorable. That chair oh my goodness it's absolutely beautiful, stunning and that duck fabric is so so so adorable. Great job
What a result 💚💛❤️ the ducks, the chair is stunning and thank you to Daisy for making Pippin sit still for a few seconds 😂 she watches Daisy with her tail wagging bless them funny little pups! Also well done on the Gilboys front, I use it on my carving so the discount will be extremely useful next time I need to order - brilliant video worth the wait 😃
I'm so proud that you stuck it out and made this little rocking chair whole again! The Gilboy wax and oil is so nice. Please tell Daisy that her Auntie in the states has hypothyroidism, too! I'm also a bit overweight lol. Love and blessings to you and yours! 😊
When you commented that the chair looked to be handmade I wondered if it was made by someone's grandfather many years ago. I hope that it will make little ones happy for many generations to come. Absolutely beautiful!
That turned out really lovely and I do love the duck fabric. I had a dress when I was a child that my mother made for me that had ducks all over it. My “ducky” dress was my favorite!
Your persistence paid off. It is a family treasure now and for future generations. 👍🏻 I think the duck fabric is perfect! ⭐️ The Gilboys products look interesting and worth checking out. Thank you.
A massive shout-out to Gilboys for taking care of us & our guy at Mayfield Restorations. The chair may have tested you, but the repair lessons you just passed on to your devoted viewers are priceless. Thanks David, you outdid yourself 🙌 Oh, and the duck fabric is spot on. Pat/Yukon, Canada🍁
Absolutely stunning, amazing work. I love everything about this chair….fabric, extraordinary effort but most of all the obvious love that went into the project. Hope Daisy does well on her medication. She’s such a doll. Finally, congratulations on the Gilroy’s participation in your channel. I’m going to order something now!
Thanks so much Kathy, it certainly was a labour of love but he's worth it. Daisy is starting to show signs of improvement on this medication so fingers crossed. 😃🐶❤️
What a happy looking chair! Excellent job, as usual. I know you'll get a lot of advice, but using a loose scrunchy to hold up the ears on my dogs with floppy ears ( Spaniels and Bassett Hounds) really helped with that yeasty stuff. Not tight, loosely. Big love to Daisy ❤
Good thing you had Daisy's (love Daisy) emotional support or you might have given up. Your inventive needed alterations and patience were astounding! George is so lucky to receive such a lovely piece. ❤
Just beautiful. When you started, I thought you might just give up. But you persevered and did a wonderful job fixing and refinishing the wood and I just love the fabric you used on the seat - playful and not childish. Thank you for sharing your projects.
This is a very very proud chair!!! This was a labor of love, and I hope George cherishes this piece. I do hope he is able to watch this video and while he does, he will feel the love created for him! Great job sir!
Note to self--wear safety glasses when clamping wood!! 😮. So glad that you were not injured when that wood snapped! (I've had my cornea scratched and it was more painful than a C-section!!). What lucky little boys to have you as an 'uncle' (I loved the other chair too!)
You are exactly right, I never thought clamping wood could be so dangerous but then again it was my own fault for over tightening it. Lesson learned!! 🤣🤣❤️
By George this was an awesome project! I love handmade and restored items that are labors of love! Teddy and George are so lucky to have you in their lives, as is Daisy (and all your viewers). ❤ to 🐕
I applaud your determination to keep going when it was just so tedious! It was worth it. I love the fabric! Well done. It was a pleasure to watch you overcome!
Absolutely stunning! Your perseverance truly paid off! It’s gorgeous- and quite possibly will start up new battles of ownership and coveting! 😆 Daisy’s tappy-taps just get me! Hope she gets to feeling well with new medication and treatment. 💖 If you are cornered to do another cousin’s chair- if they’re not too little, it would be great to get them involved with the restoration process! They could sand, and glue, and watch and learn! I’m sure they’d love it- I know I would! Again, we felt your frustration and disappointment, but you carried through it all and achieved a magnificent miracle at the end! Love this! 💖👍👏🌟🤘
Of course, I’ll say it again, your work is impeccable! You’ve inspired me to not only refinish furniture, but to try my hand at restoration. I’ll definitely be rewatching your videos for help. 😊 I may even try to make my own videos. You’re amazing. Thank you!
Wow what a great comment. Its so great to hear that i have given you some inspiration to do your own restorations. If you do start your own UA-cam channel, let me know the name and i'll check it out 😃❤️
With all the challenges of this chair, it has come out beautifully. Little George will be very happy 😊. Hello sweet Daisy girl. I love your work, David ❤
Your corners look pretty darn good to me. The wood finish is beautiful! Job very well done. I really enjoyed this video. George is a fortunate little man to have such a caring person to love him.
Oh David, this piece was a tremendous amount of work and a really big pain in the backside! We all felt your frustration! But just know that you are the master and it looks outstanding! Absolutely love the duck upholstery it's beautiful! George is going to be over the moon for his new chair! Fantastic job transforming this to be used for George's children 😊! I'll keep Daisy in my prayers! Soon she'll be back to good health once her medicine is right! She's such a sweet girl and she's happy all the time! Blessings to you and your family and Daisy! Awesome rocker for George! Hope you can make a video of his excitement when he gets it! Take care, have a rest after this grueling job! 😊❤
Thanks so much for your lovely comments Pam. Its so nice to hear that you enjoy my videos and the Daisy appearances. She's starting to feel much better now she's on the meds. Thanks for your continued support 😃❤️🐶
Another "wow" restoration! This rocker will be one to cherish for generations to come. I love watching you bring new life to these pieces. Daisy is as charming as always. What a girl!
Oh David, you have the patience of a saint!!! George is a very lucky little boy, you have given him an heirloom piece of furniture. Give Daisy a big hug from me, poor little girl she's been in the wars but is still so happy.
Love the beautiful result - the 'quirks' make it even more special - anyone can have a 'mass produced, perfect' chair - this one is a hand made with much love chair!
Both George and Teddy are lucky to have such beautiful chairs to own and, hopefully, eventually hand down to their children. As you said, David, a labour of love. This one is truly beautiful - love the fabric. Also sorry to hear Daisy isn’t well. My thoughts are with you both. With best wishes from Down Under 😘💕🐶🇦🇺.
Thanks so much Dianne, it certainly tried my patience but I’m glad I persevered. Daisy is getting there with her medication so fingers crossed she’ll be fully fit very soon. 😀🐶❤️
WOW.....absolutely beautiful. I need to find some Gilboys, it's a great finish. So glad you didn't give up on that chair though I wouldn't have blamed you if you did. I'm sure your cousin was more than pleased. My best to Daisy.
Hi Julie. If you click the link in the video description it'll take you to the Gilboys website. Lots of amazing products on there. Thanks so your continued support 😃🐶❤️
Wow David ive been in bits watching this restoration for George so much love has gone into this Emily and the rest of us are so proud of you it truly is a family heirloom xx
Awww thats lovely to say you're proud of me. You know i'd do anything for my family, i love you all. Can't wait to see George's face when I give it to him ❤️❤️❤️
A great testament to your perseverance and dedication the craft. Congratulations on your link up with Gilboys, Simon knows a good restorer when he sees one!
Thats really kind of you Tim and I'm loving your channel. You should have far more views and subscribers but as we all know, UA-cam is a Fickle beast. My last 3 videos have performed worse than the previous but I've no idea why. Keep up the great work matey 😃👍👍
You certainly had your work cut out for you. This chair had way too many issues, but you stuck with it and produced an absolutely "George-ous" work of art chair. And the fabric...wow, the perfect touch. Well done!
You are so patient, but the results were outstanding! I’m quite a novice at restoring furniture but I opted to use Gilboy’s Hard Wax Oil. The finish turned out beautiful and it was extremely easy to apply.
I’ve always thought one did the upholstery while the seat is off the chair. That was what we always did when we redid the dining chairs. But not a professional for sure! Wonderful job and love Daisy ❤
This nightmare rocker is a challenge project! But you defeated it to best it could be fixed. The problem began at its first creation, nothing can fix that….. perhaps it was a first project for one just learning. That said you have done a fabulous job with it. The wax, oh my goodness amazing, I see why you like it so much. George is a fortunate little lad..
Just wrote a comment and lost it****. Fabulous job David. Whoever said you can’t make a silk purse from a sows ear never watched you. Thank you Daisy for teaching you. Well done sir👏👏👌👌❤
This restoration is absolutely genius. I'm certain George will like and appreciate it now, and I hope he has a chance to see this video when he is a young adult to truly appreciate the love and care in it. Best wishes!!
I think that is my favourite piece so far . I love to see the love you put into it. The fabric is gorgeous , will last into adulthood. George is a very lucky little boy.
I feel really bad that I burst out laughing when the piece broke & flew! And again a few minutes later. However I've worked on multiple "non-professional" handmade pieces where everything was also just a bit of wonkie. The piece that almost drove me over the hill was a sewing stool. No matching piece matched any other matching piece. I ended up doing what you did cutting some pieces to make it more uniform. Thank you just so much for giving me a needed laugh.
Don't feel bad, I laughed at myself when i was editing the video 🤣🤣. I hope the next peice i'm working on doesn't end up like this chair or your sewing stool!! Fingers crossed 😃👍
I too have watched every Gilboy UA-cam and LOVE LOVE LOVE Simon and his amazing skills and personality. I'm glad he's recognized you and your abilities and has given you some of his products. BTW your personality is also amazing.
I can see why you love the Gilboy’s products. They gilded the lily! Amazing shine and it truly enhanced the wood. ❤ Trena from John’s Furniture Repair also uses Gilboy’s.
I love the ducks!!! Whew....that was definitely a labor of love. I saw the the one runner has a twisted diagonal grain. That is what messed it up. It was cut on a diagonal grain. Daisy has not lost her spark nor energy. I hope she does well on her meds. That was a long video but you had me glue to what was going on. A round of applause for your fortitude!
Aww thanks for such a lovely comment and i'm so glad the video wasn't too long for you. I was a little worried people would get bored. Thanks as always for your support 😃🐶❤️
That's a real labor of love, it looks really great! Believe it or not you're my inspiration for the restoration of furniture. I started to do restoration back in 2019, but i stayed away from furniture and didn't touch them. About a year ago I started to do restoration on furniture. I found two chairs literally on a trash pile headed for the dump. I saved them, however each chair had only three legs each. So I took one from the other and got one good chair restored. The other, I took the seat restored it and put it on my stool in use in my shop. It's more comfy than what was on there. I cannot work during the winter due to no heat in my little shop. But i have a vintage telephone chair I plan on restoring when spring comes. Thank you for inspiring me to do what I do.
Thats a brilliant comment and its so nice that I have inspired you to start restoring furniture. Its so satisfying. My workshop isn't heated either but Winters aren't that cold here and I have a little gas and electric heater to take the chill off. Good luck with your Telephone table when you start it 😃👍👍
David, your patience and persistence is a testament to the kind of guy you are.

Thanks very much Marcia 😃❤️
George is a lucky boy! That rocker is a work of heart. I love the ducks.
I love that, "A Work of Heart", brilliant 😃❤️
I love the outcome. The duck fabric is adorable. George is a lucky fellow. The work you put into the little rocker is awesome. It challenged you and what it taught you was outstanding. Again lucky George awesome job well done.
So pleased you liked the end results. It certainly was a labour of love 😃🐶❤️
That turned out beautiful… The fabric is perfect for it❤❤❤. And I just love Daisy. She’s a real sweetheart.
😃🐶❤️❤️
You took a lovely pile of kindling and made it into a proper chair! It's lovely. Always good to see our happy Daisy, hoping for the best for the sweet girl. I'm 64 and still have a little antique rocker from an aunt. My kiddo has a lovely little one my dad restored, even to redoing all the woven cane. Rest assured those rockers you did will be cherished a long time.
Thanks so much for leaving such a nice comment 😃❤️🐶
Thanks so much for your lovely comments, its really appreciated 😃😃❤️🐶
St. David & the dragon. You slayed that one, yet somehow George is rewarded. What a battle!!
It certainly was a battle 😂😂😂👍
Gorgeous duck fabric! Love it - great choice :) Your perseverance paid off! So glad Daisy will be OK
Thank you! 😊🐶❤️

Yeah, Daisy is getting better all the time on this new medication, thanks. I loved that Duck fabric too. 😃🐶❤️
Daisy is really a beautiful dog...is she a Springer Spaniel? She does have a lovely/playful "cheeky" disposition! Thank You for sharing her with us!
Hi, thanks for saying that about Daisy. She is an English Cocker Spaniel 😃🐶❤️
How beautiful.!.thank you for sharing your adventures in restoration. Love and hugs for Daisy. ♥️🤗🐶
Thank YOU for watching and giving me your support 😃🐶❤️
Wow! Amazing restoration. The Gilboys finish added a beautiful shine to the piece. Great job!
Thanks very much 😃
What a FANTASTIC little rocker! Im sure George and his mum will love this special chair very much! You did a great job, thank you!❤❤
Thanks so much 😃❤️❤️
Looks fantastic! Love the fabric on the seat. It was worth all the time you put into it.

I love hearing that Pippin reacts to the Daisy sections, its so funny. Even Daisy watches herself on the screen as if its another dog!! Mad! 🤣🤣

It could well have been made as a one off piece. I'm glad i saved it from being thrown away and now it'll be an heirloom 😃😃
That turned out really lovely and I do love the duck fabric. I had a dress when I was a child that my mother made for me that had ducks all over it. My “ducky” dress was my favorite!
I loved the ducks to and your "Ducky" dress sounds awesome 😃😃
Your persistence paid off. It is a family treasure now and for future generations. 👍🏻
I think the duck fabric is perfect! ⭐️
The Gilboys products look interesting and worth checking out. Thank you.
Thanks so much. The Gilboys stuff is amazing 😃❤️
I'm at my most patient when I'm working with wood. There's just something soothing to me when I'm repairing or just touching a piece of wood
Me too, although this tested that patience 🤣🤣
A massive shout-out to Gilboys for taking care of us & our guy at Mayfield Restorations. The chair may have tested you, but the repair lessons you just passed on to your devoted viewers are priceless. Thanks David, you outdid yourself 🙌

You've turned that pile of kindling into a delightful family heirloom!
It almost got used as kindling!!🤣🤣
Just beautiful. When you started, I thought you might just give up. But you persevered and did a wonderful job fixing and refinishing the wood and I just love the fabric you used on the seat - playful and not childish. Thank you for sharing your projects.
Thanks very much, glad you liked it 😃😃
Just exceptional, exceptional work! Congratulations on a beautiful job and best wishes to George and his family. 😊

Thanks very much 😃🐶❤️❤️
Aah David what a work of art. I would not have had the patience dedication and skill to achieve the results that you did. This is another masterpiece.
Thats really kind of you, thanks so much 😃😃
Oh David, you have the patience of a saint!!! George is a very lucky little boy, you have given him an heirloom piece of furniture. Give Daisy a big hug from me, poor little girl she's been in the wars but is still so happy.
Thanks Linda, I'll Daisy a big hug from you 😃🐶❤️❤️
David you went above and beyond for this piece. The result is amazing. Love the ducks! That was definitely a labor of love. Lucky George!!
Thanks so much Lisa 😃❤️
Just another lovely job!
Thanks 😃😃
Love the beautiful result - the 'quirks' make it even more special - anyone can have a 'mass produced, perfect' chair - this one is a hand made with much love chair!
😀❤️
Well, once again you hit another out of the park!!! Your work is perfection🥰
Thats really nice of you to say, thanks so much 😃😃
Both George and Teddy are lucky to have such beautiful chairs to own and, hopefully, eventually hand down to their children.
Can't wait to see George's face when I give it to him ❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely beautiful!
Thanks 😃
A great testament to your perseverance and dedication the craft. Congratulations on your link up with Gilboys, Simon knows a good restorer when he sees one!
Thats really kind of you Tim and I'm loving your channel. You should have far more views and subscribers but as we all know, UA-cam is a Fickle beast. My last 3 videos have performed worse than the previous but I've no idea why. Keep up the great work matey 😃👍👍
WOW! The Gilboys wax leaves a beautiful finish...really nice. I am glad you hung in there with the rocker.
Thanks so much, the Gilboys stuff is amazing 😃
For all the headaches, it sure turned out mighty fine! Question: does Daisy like to cuddle? Big hug for her!!
Hi Melissa. Daisy loves a cuddle and kisses. I'll give her a big hug from you 🐶❤️
David, this one tested your patience! But, you made it through. EXCELLENT WORK as usual ❤🤩
It certainly did 🤣😃🐶❤️
You certainly had your work cut out for you. This chair had way too many issues, but you stuck with it and produced an absolutely "George-ous" work of art chair. And the fabric...wow, the perfect touch. Well done!
Thanks for your great comments, its much appreciated ❤️
You are so patient, but the results were outstanding! I’m quite a novice at restoring furniture but I opted to use Gilboy’s Hard Wax Oil. The finish turned out beautiful and it was extremely easy to apply.
Thanks so much. I agree with you about the Gilboys products, very simple but with great results 😃😃
Congratulations on your masterful work! I can see that you value details without losing the essence of the object
Thanks, I do like details. I may have a little OCD 🤣🤣
Oh, and the fabric is fabulous 😊
😃❤️
Now I want to design and build a chair that is thin AF! ❤
It was rather delicate 🤣🤣👍❤️
Adorable fabric for the seat !!
thanks 😃
I’ve always thought one did the upholstery while the seat is off the chair. That was what we always did when we redid the dining chairs. But not a professional for sure! Wonderful job and love Daisy ❤
Yeah, if the chair has a removable seat pad then you can upholster it off the frame but this seat was built into the chair frame 😃👍
Thanks so much Cathie. I was really pleased how it eventually turned out 😃❤️
Great job, fantastic restoration, take great care of Daisy, I'm a fan of her, greetings from the middle of the world Quito Ecuador 🌎
Thanks so much Silvia. Daisy is being looked after as I'm sure you can imagine, she means the world to us. 😃🐶❤️
Just wrote a comment and lost it****. Fabulous job David. Whoever said you can’t make a silk purse from a sows ear never watched you. Thank you Daisy for teaching you. Well done sir👏👏👌👌❤
You, sir, are brilliant in your restoration work!! Definitely like the ducks-they give the chair a childlike whimsy!!
Thats really kind of you, thanks very much 😃😃
Gilboys thank you for assisting Dave in all his wonderful projects.👍👍👍
I second that Agnes. I'm honoured that Simon Gilboy contacted me 😃❤️
This restoration is absolutely genius. I'm certain George will like and appreciate it now, and I hope he has a chance to see this video when he is a young adult to truly appreciate the love and care in it. Best wishes!!
That's beautiful! I love the ducks. Your cousin should be very proud
Thanks so much 😃😃
Absolutely amazing, just beautiful!
Thanks so much 😃❤️
I think that is my favourite piece so far . I love to see the love you put into it. The fabric is gorgeous , will last into adulthood. George is a very lucky little boy.
Thats such a lovely comment, thanks so much 😃❤️
Emily will love this restoration and as George grows up he will treasure this chair more and more. Love the final result.
Thats very kind, thanks so much 😃😃
I feel really bad that I burst out laughing when the piece broke & flew!
Thats such a lovely thing to say and I agree that Simon and his skills are amazing, as are his products. Its an honour to be working with him. 😃❤️
Bravo David. So inspiring.
Thanks Colleen 😃❤️
What patience you have👏 Your solutions to each issue were really quite brilliant! George should be thrilled😁
Thats so kind of you to say, thanks very much 😃❤️
I can see why you love the Gilboy’s products. They gilded the lily! Amazing shine and it truly enhanced the wood. ❤ Trena from John’s Furniture Repair also uses Gilboy’s.
Simon's products are so nice and give such a great finish. I'm honoured he contacted me 😃❤️
A great result David and Daisy in spite of all the problems the chair threw up , well done 👏👏👍. Hope you're feeling better soon Daisy
Thanks Michael 😃👍👍
Good luck with your Telephone table when you start it 😃👍👍
@@MayfieldRestorations I'm trying to figure out of it's veneered or not. Any suggestions on how to tell
