Guy Pearce is one of the most underrated actors out there... The Proposition is hands down one of my all time favourite movies, beautiful cinematography, haunting soundtrack by the groundbreaking Nick Cave who incidentally wrote the screenplay, directed by the great John Hillcoat but most of all cudos to Danny Houston and Guy who complement each other fantastically, every scene they are in together feels electric.... a real must see for any film lover.
Pearce does a lot of great Australian movies. The Proposition was amazing and maybe my favorite, but I also loved Animal Kingdom, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and The Rover.
NOT So Average Joe totally agree and to think he started out in Neighbours...... Priscilla is such a guilty pleasure, my Daughter and I were only discussing it last week.... have you managed to check out Jack Irish yet?
I actually haven't, is it any good? And why is Priscilla a "guilty" pleasure? Its a great movie and Pearce is fabulous in it (as is Hugo Weaving and Terrance Stamp) he also has a movie coming out this year I believe called Flammable Children which is another Australian movie by the same guy who wrote/directed Priscilla.
I would say Pearce has yet to top his performance in Memento though, that is one of the best performances of all time and the reason he is #1 favorite actor.
Agree , he constantly put on great performances but all of them flopped in the box office
i don't even want to admit that it was pretty well done because jeez it frustrated me.. very depressing..
Just when you think the movie can't possibly *go there*, it fucking goes there.
Guy Pearce is one of the best actors of his generation. He's absolutely amazing!. I've seen him in so many movies and his acting is always magnificent. Apart from "Brimstone" also "Lawless" is another great piece of work from Guy Pearce
thz movie is haunting me...and thz guy guy performance is intense....
underrated actor
Saw this film and once he opened his mouth I thought; ''That guy is Dutch. He speaks English very well, but he IS Dutch.''
How did he get this accent so spot on?
He trained very intensively and as a Dutch person I have to agree, his accent is very convincing!
Hes got a dutch wife lol that explains it

Very haunting, and yet well done. Agree with GlassHalfEmpty. A very beautiful and realistic film; never watching it again. I don't know how many times I called out Pearce's character in the film while watching it. What a sadistic villian. Glad to watch the interview and it brings me back to present day. Well done Pearce and Fanning. Nice to see Kit Harrison in this as well.
This movie was so fucked upppppppp…but I give it 10/10!
Best movie
Reminded me of the movie "The Witch".
Great film, Dakota and Guy are both excellent. I like Memento the best from Guy
The film's stunning but no way! i ain't going through those traumatic scenes again ! Was literally in tears in the scene when Kit & Emilia hugged in the barn And on the last scene ! I just feel terrified thinking there are people who goes through these kind of things!
Feel the same but i cant also help but feel like watching it again would make us understand it more deeply. I dont know.
great actor, very underrated
It’s very haunting, realistic, and brutal movie. It’s probably close to what the real west was.
Guy pierce is a legend. Movie was epic but very sad.
This movie bothered me to the point I would skip some of the scenes, but forced myself to re watch them. I don't know what I would have done if I saw this in a movie theater. Maybe it was the edible. Bravo to Guy.
Yeh this film would of messed me up watching it on edibles! Fairplay to ya 🤣
i give guy pearce lots of credit for taking on the role cuz even bast off the trailer you could tell its very dark disturbing and hard to watch at time imagine how the movie was
I really enjoy shocking and disturbing cinema... but this was an utterly dreadful film. 1.5 stars. Overly long, overly stylised, massively underdeveloped characters... the violence was extreme but it felt vacuous. The film lacked heart and the writer/director seriously needs to leave shock, cruelty and brutality to story tellers with a better understanding of violence and representation. This story didn't need to sink to the levels it did at all.
I respect your opinion but I disagree. I loved it.
@@BlighterProductions
Exactly it was pretty interesting and well acted
Absolutely loved it
I thought his accent in the movie was real
Magnificent actor!!!!
Wait a min.....why are you saying this is his movie?? when the writer and director is Martin Koolhoven???
I love the way they kept ragging on Trump.
OJay88 oh yes libtards just can’t resist trying to make a little half ass pissy shot at him.
The getting shot near the end gave me ptsd😭😭
He s still creppy..
Guy Pierce is great! The guy interviewing is ruining it by bringing up politics.
Guy pearce become the characters he play. Such a shame he's still underrated. And this movie mad my blood boil
Great film Guy but the Proposition is still the best film ever.
I cannot reconcile why any actor would want to play this role. I don’t care how they nice they seem. I don’t care. I’m sorry if one decides something like that, I have to side eye them from then on out. I can’t not. Some roles are just too wierd, too scary. There’s good acting & then there’s just being possibly clinically sick? & I’m not even necessarily talking about being a closet perv. Idk I just find it very confusing why an actor would be okay taking on a script like that & performing it verbatim. I’ve really got to wonder where an actor’s head is at. I do think it’s very concerning. There’s story telling & then there’s just being ridiculous. I’ll watch a mildly graphic pg-13 or even rated r murder scene but I will not watch torture & rape. Some movies just go too far.
Take it easy. This film is a masterpiece and Guy Pierce is a master actor.
That’s the difference between a movie star and an actor. An actor will push him/herself to truly uncomfortable levels to further their craft.
Hi
I will never accept Guy Pierce again, ever again. Just shivering when seeing that face 🤮
Lmao, the Reverend was something else.
Someone please explain WTF is going on in this movie?
I did not enjoy the film .. gave it one star!
MOST DISGUSTING MOVIE!!!!
Evil 😈 he always play an evil guy !!!!
And where does the Lone Ranger takes his rubbish to? To the dump to the dump to the Trump Trump Trump.....
orangemanrad
Very disturbing movie! And a very disturbed writer! I don’t know what this movie is trying to do. But I’ll tell you right off the bat it was one of the worst movies I’ve ever watched. Sickening, nauseating, and certainly not entertaining. These actors and actresses are wonderful actors who have sold their souls to the devil. For anyone to want to be in a movie like this, they would have to really be hard up . I hope no one ever watches a movie they are in again! And for the writer of this movie, find another job!
This is one of the best movies. What are you talking about. Lol.
You obviously don’t understand Theater and true Thespians.
It's funny how you mention the devil. When quite litterally, this is how women were treated, and the Christian Bible endorsed it all in the old testament. The rape, slavery of women back then, was God's doing, not satan.
