Brilliant video and a great narrator
Great video, well presented and researched. I extended my knowledge on the subject and learnt a lot from the video, so many thanks for that. Easy-to-listen-to story teller. Wonder if he does other subject or does he just cover Scotland? This is the first one I have seen so far, so will check out his other vides to see if they are as good as this one :-)
Thank you Gordon...lovely history of what sounds like a very special Scottish "clan".
Yes, I think they were quite unique, Debra, no doubt brought about by their isolation. Kind regards, Gordon
Very interesting information. Thanks so much for this video. I so enjoy all of your videos.
As ever, thanks for this Monisa. Glad you enjoyed it! Kind regards, Gordon
Thank you Gordon. I did so enjoy your insights into the fascinating history of Island St. Kilda and its ancient lineage. My interest was piqued by the title, because as a Melburnian now, one of our prominent vibrant city suburbs bears the name of St. Kilda, an obvious tribute those original emigre`s and their lonely island. Cant help wondering how many of our citizens know of the origins of the name for Melbourne`s St. Kilda. Again thanks for this enlightening video.
My pleasure, Charles. Interesting to hear about the Melbourne connection. Kind regards, Gordon
I enjoy these videos so much! The Black Douglas please!!!?
It's on my list! Been incredibly busy recently so regrettably haven't had time. Hopefully soon! Kind regards, Gordon
I enjoyed the history of St. Kilda very much . I have seen several fiction works made into movies about people that moved from such islands and now I can see why they would have to move. It was wonderful to see how they met together and decided how to help all on the island together . We have do not see this as much now and it refreshing to see that it is not forgotten.
THANKS
Mike G.
Thanks, Mike. Whilst it is sad that the island had to be abandoned you can see how this had to happen, for the benefit of the residents. It was great to see how the government of the day stepped in to help them, and thought about where best to re-settle them. Kind regards, Gordon
Thankyou Gordon. What a wonderful bit of history you got to share in and thx for sharing it with us.
As always, my pleasure, Mike! Kind regards, Gordon
Hi Gordon, enjoying your videos very much. I’m a Scot who now lives in England. So it’s nice to hear a familiar accent and also hear some interesting things about my homeland. All the best
Glad you're enjoying them! Kind regards, Gordon
One of these days, I'll pay St. Kilda a visit....
My own thoughts, entirely! I was all set to go from Skye a few years ago, but weather was terrible and the sailing was cancelled. One day….!
si kilda is my all emotion
How does one get there if at all? If one gets there, and can it be camped?
Hi Richard. As far as I know you can only go for day trips. If you want to stay overnight I think you may have to take a cruise.
Here’s details of one firm offering day trips, but there are probably others. Maybe search the internet?
