I read an article that people were wanting to cancel thanksgiving because of the story behind the holiday. As A Native American I hope they don't, I look pass the history and take the holiday as a way for families to come together and celebrate being thankful that your family is still hear on earth, with you and eating a delicious turkey. I would like people to look at thanksgiving the same way 😊

Professor Robert Jensen of the University of Texas at Austin previously said: “One indication of moral progress in the United States would be the replacement of Thanksgiving Day and its self-indulgent family feasting with a National Day of Atonement accompanied by a self-reflective collective fasting.”
Americans are frequently guilty of cultural appropriation in their celebrations
Young children are taught about Thanksgiving in school, where they often learn of the first feast through crafts and drawings. In addition to depictions of turkeys, the Mayflower and the Pilgrims, many children decorate Native American headdresses - which frequently bare no resemblance to the headdresses, clothes and feathers worn by the Wampanoag Indians.
These inaccurate historical references are perpetrated each year, making the battle for equality and accurate representation an ongoing one for Native Americans in America.

God bless you. The Native Americans are so interesting to me. I have always said that if anyone had a right to dislike the white race, it would be them. Our ancestors were wrong in so many ways, but good people learn from their mistakes. All of mankind deserves respect... although they don't act like it a lot of the time.

I don't think I've ever looked forward to Thanksgiving as much as this year! I love my family so much. I'm very thankful for each one. My great nieces come over the day before Thanksgiving to "help me." It would be easier to prepare everything without them, but I love teaching them to cook our family recipes and spending time with them. We have matching aprons ❤ My only child was killed in a car accident when he was 23. I'll never have my own grandbabies, but I'm so thankful for every child I get to love.

when the lid won’t quite fit, I just cover my crock pot with a big piece of foil, then put the lid on top. The meat will cook down eventually so the lid can fit. Remove foil at that time.

Thanks for this recipe, I'll probably do it this way this year. In the 1950's my aunt worked at America's Test Kithchen in Omaha, Nebraska. She learned there to slather frozen orange juice concentrate all over the turkey, and butter, seasoning. She made the best turkey and I do it this way too. You don't taste the orange juice, it ends up freshening the taste and helps keep it moist.

I always add a little pineapple, and all the pineapple juice. 6-8 oz. That mixed with the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper (and whatever your choices are) make the absolute heavenly roasted turkey!!! First season the turkey with butter and seasons....Pour on pineapple juice and only a very few pineapple chunks in the bottom of pan with the juice for the best flavor!!! And, everyone will want your recipe! It makes outrageous gravy, too! Enjoy!

In the Samoan culture, the men do the cooking. My brother does a lot of cooking for his church. He made his own homemade smoke salt. When you can't get out or shelves are skimpy, cooking skills are invaluable! We have been using our roaster ovens for 40ty years. I COOK FOR 75 AT OUR CHURCH. I am known for the moist & flavorful turkey. MY SECRET IS SIMPLE OVEN BAGS. No rosemary we use sage instead. Also I put 1/3 of a cup of apple cider vinegar in each bag. The secret ingredient is LOVE. I fix 30- 45 lbs of turkey breast for church. I fix a small on 8 lbs for our family of 5. We also do a small bone in ham.. COLLARDS are Always served. We start around November first baking pies & many things ahead. This makes Thanksgiving so much more enjoyable. Our 10 year old Granddaughter makes from scratch for us cornbread dressing SHE makes this for our church to serve 75 . This is our family it recipe my dad & I came up with over 45 years ago. I am a self taught. Both of my Daughters are good Cooks. But our Granddaughter is a GREAT COOK. She has been making COMPLETE meals since the age of 7... We all need Thanksgiving to happen this year. Great recipe. I learned to use my slow cooker after hurricane Katrina. We had no electricity at our house for more than 2 weeks but my office had power which was only 3 miles away (different power supplier). We were having to eat out of our freezer as the food was thawing so I took the slow cooker and turkey breast to my office and cooked it on low all night. Between the turkey and the veggies I cooked on a propane camp stove, my husband and sons declared they’d never eaten so well-even threatened to remove my stove from the kitchen and replace it with the camp stove. I’ve cooked my turkey in the slow cooker since but will try your seasoning this Thanksgiving! Thanks for the video!

I searched your videos for this recipe since I had a turkey breast thawing and didn’t want to do it in my oven this morning, it sounds so simple and easy and not even any cleanup as I use the liners in my slow cooker..Thanks for sharing

I love your recipes and look forward to your week long videos. I also love your farmhouse apron. i am making a few for myself. Peace and blessings.

Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite meal of the year, it's my favorite holiday of the year too. Sometimes my hubby and I get hungry for it in the middle of the year. I try to find a small turkey breast (even a couple chicken breasts) cook it in the crockpot all day. Make up some easy dressing and gravy and maybe do green beans in my small crockpot all day too. We come home from work and the house smells like Thanksgiving!!! It's a treat on a regular day. Love your videos and recipes!!

With all the recent social distancing, this is the first year I will be having Thankgiving for 2. We will be communicating by video and sharing stories of thanksgivin, just not in person. I had major surgery 4 weeks ago, so I am limited in how far I can travel. This recipe will be easy and low impact effort with high impact flavor for us. Thank you for the timely suggestion. PS I'm sharing these videos with my extended family....who knows we may sharing the mixed results.

I have a new stove this year and the oven and I are not seeing eye to eye so this recipe came at just the perfect time. I have been cooking whole chicken in my slow cooker for years and it makes the best richest broth ever. I add carrots, onion, and celery. The shredded chicken meat goes in my cornbread dressing and we just have it as a casserole. We love dressing casserole all year for special occasions and church pot luck dinners. My five quart crockpot will hold a 7lb chicken and the veggies.
