So nice, I hv suggestions on Nrachi customs, when the man effort for male offspring is to no avail nd age is no longer at his side, he plans this custom practice with the daughter, with her permission a man which they believe is of good behavior, having his consent is selected to perform the practice, not men, and this man performs some husbandly responsibility (at his own wish)to show care, the custom doesn't promote rape or prostitution, the family won't like to hv hoodlums as offspring, it's called Ihachi nwanyi (to retain a girl).

Dear Obinna Ogbusu, methink 'Ihachi Nwanyi' is when your brother dies without an issue, you inherit his wife in order to continue the family lineage. You are left with the option of taking your own wife ( that means a second wife) or continue alone with your brother's wife. That is what is called Ihachi Nwanyi, but 'Nrachi' has to do with the daughter. She makes effort to bear a son in her father's house before being married out. It is a clindestine arrangement. The family is not usually proud of it, but they allow it as the only available option. It doesn't suggest rape or prostitution, (same way the polygamous nature of ancestral Igbo family does not suggest promiscuity on the part of man) rather it is a sacrifice on the part of the daughter to continue the family lineage and more importantly, to avoid an outsider (especially Osu from becoming part of the family). Thanks.
I salute our online lecturer. You are doing well.

@@patrickozonweke992 I commend ur comments Sir, but that's for ikuchi nwanyi( ie when the bro of the deceased wishes to take care of the wife, even with respect to the woman having a male child, if the woman permits) but Ihachi nwanyi, I still maintain my earlier comment.

Please Onitsha still maintains Obiship which is entirely the birthrite of Diokola.
Minus it is clearly stated that where there is no alternative properties for the other children of the demised man then the 1st son having stepped into the shoes of his late father has the duty to accommodate his other brothers.
But where there is alternatives the other children have no business with the Obi.
