I'm going to help out Sherry Lee here, I think I know what she meant about the Stamparatus in that with each of the two plates you can move them down the grid. In other words, each plate doesn't have to be square on the platform they can be lifted out and placed down a notch in the hinge. The can also be flipped over so when using layering stamps you have 4 plates not just two, and additional plates can be purchased to increase it all the way to eight. And they also sell a storage bag to help with keeping the unattached plate secure, and grid paper that fits it exactly is also sold. So I have one, and the storage bag, I have 4 hinged plates, 2 tables of grid paper all stored in it with room for even more and if I need to go to a craft class or crop, its all ready to go. 😊
But I loved the review, love most things on your channel. Thanks for all that you do.

For Christmas I got my mother the Tim Holtz after doing a ton of research on it and the Misti. For Christmas she gave me the big size Misti and the special cleaner to clean it. I feel bad that she spent so much money on it plus the cleaner. IMO the Tim Holtz is the better option for performance and value. I feel like the original Misti was awesome and the way to go when there was not any competition but now other companies have improved on the original idea, that's what happens in busy. Misti is way over priced! I can not speak on the Stamparatus, I don't have it. Tim Holtz has my vote.

There is so much more the Stamparatus does like you can flip the plates and use all 4 sides for stamping an image & sentiment. Also you can move the plate down the hinge to stamp an image multiple times either down the side or across the top which neither of the others offer. I’m not sure the review of the Stamparatus was very fair.

Tim Holtz is my favorite platform. The hinged area is metal so i don’t worry about breakage. The images stamp clear. It is a breeze to clean due to the imbedded grid lines. Excellent platform that is easy to use.

That's crap that MISTI didn't cover the magnets prior to you receiving them. I get it from a business perspective, but considering how much this platform costs, I would expect way better customer service. I keep waffling about buying a MISTI because so many other stampers rave about it but the price is ridiculous for what it is. Extremely overpriced, even on Amazon. Also, I think it was pretty shady for them to sue Tonic and force them to quit selling their platform in the US and Canada. Not sure if that's still a thing or not. I'm glad I got a Tonic platform when I did and I also have the We R Memory Keepers as well (layering stamps + multiple cards is a breeze on that one because you can have multiple stamps on the plate and just rotate it for each layer). I like the idea of the MISTI, but I won't support a business that over-inflates their prices nor seeks action against other companies because competition threatens their monopoly.

I love the Stamparatus. The second plate is meant to be removed for storage-- otherwise it will break. The two Stamparatus plates each provide two stamping surfaces each, for a total of four--awesome for stamping in bulk. A feature it has that the other stamping platforms do not is the ability for "hinge stamping." Stamp an image, lift the plate and reinsert it one or two hinges upward, downward, left, or right. You can create plaids, geometrically shaped sentiments. You can even create wreaths using this platform.
The weakness it has, in my opinion, is that stamping cannot be done successfully if the stamps are put right by the hinges. Putting tape, with a "tail," is also a definite solution to magnet injuries.

The work around I do for not being able to place the paper right up to the edges is to use double-sided sticky grid sheets. Ideally, you shouldn't have to create a work around, but those are a charm. Game changer! Another thing that I struggled with initially is how loose the hinges are. I love the options they provide in moving the plates up and down, or flipping them around, but I struggled with precise restamping to get a better image. I learned that when I move the plate down to stamp, I need to kind of pull it tight (against the front curve of the hinge) to ensure the exact placement each time. Sounds like a pain, but I quickly got in the habit of doing that and it's made a huge difference. I love my Stamparatus now. I'd much rather do that than fork out the $$$ for a Misti. Given the fact that it's just an edged bottom and a flap top, I genuinely don't understand how it's the most expensive. (I'm not a Stampin' Up seller, I should add...I bought that platform only after a lot of research.)

I love that you did this! Thank you! I do own 2
Of the same Misti and both Tim Holtz and was considering the stampin up but I have changed my mind. I had purchased the mini Misti first because of the price. They are very over priced. I was sadly disappointed because I couldn’t do much other than and A2 card. I was given the original Misti by a friend who fell in love with the Tim. Again I wouldn’t ever spend that much. And once again I was not wowed. But the Tim is so great! Way less effort to stamp and so easy to use! Sonu just purchased the travel Tim also! LOVE!!! Did I mention I have physical limitations due to a massive stroke. So having said that I can get a great impression with both my Tim’s with far less effort than the Misti. I also like that I don’t have to spend more to clean and I feel it made far better than the Misti. Quality and great price! Can’t go wrong! Thanks again u rock!!

I am so happy to learn that I was not the only person treated so horribly by the owner of the Misti /Sweet Petunia product when I called customer service about a defective Misti that I received. She is nasty, has an attitude and basically told me to jump in the lake and live with the chipped corners, hairline crack and misaligned ruler on my Misti. I submitted pictures of the damage as she requested but nothing changed. I will never buy another product from her. I do own the Tim Holtz platform and the Stamparatus. I love all three platforms for different reasons. As previous reviews stated, the Stamparatus does so much more than demonstrated and the other two platforms. It is excellent for 4 step stamping. I agree that Stampin Up and Tim Holtz has excellent customer service.

I love your review. I own the Tim holtz stamp platform although I don't have either of the sizes you mentioned, I have a 9 and 1/2 by 11 and 1/2 inch platform. I absolutely love it. I like your advice about putting a foam mat underneath. I just might try that. I'm considering getting two more of the same size so that my children can stamp with me when we're stamping together. And so that I can set them up as an assembly line to do layered stamping without having to switch stamps. Thank you for doing these reviews by the way.

My favorite two are the Tim Holtz and Hampton Arts. As a crafter who's on a budget, both were affordable.
Tim Holtz is my favorite because it's so sturdy and and more flexible. I also put some felt in the stamping area to avoid any issues with bald spots in my stamped images.
Hampton Arts is incredible for both its lightweight and affordability, even when buying it from England. I found a seller from England and even with shipping, it's still cheaper than the Misti.
I was gifted with the Stamparatus. I like it but found I had to add additional pieces of felt along with the foam it came with because I was having trouble getting a good impression. The way the stamp door slants is what causes the problem. The extra felt alleviates the problem altogether. I love it for layering stamps.
Thanks for your honest review. Really appreciate it!

  • @TeriPocock

Alexandra ... you are going to break the hinges on your Stamparatus if you have both plates in it and keep pressing them both down! You should only have one closed at a time. You definitely don't want to close them both and put something else on top of them! Also, you didn't mention that although it has 2 plates, it has 4 usable stamping surfaces .... a great advantage with multi layering images x

Hi Teri, this was only an overview and on the blog I link more detailed videos on the ones currently available to purchase and a Stamparatus in depth video is in the works, I know you can't store the Stamparatus assembled which for me is a big downside.

thank you for this review. I have the small Misti and the first Tim Holtz platform. I bought the Misti after it first came out because I loved the concept of it. Even as I was buying it i felt it was way over priced (I think they all are). I got the Tim Holtz platform for all reasons you demonstrated (I watched some videos on it before I purchased it) and I love it. I use this one all the time. I have been watching the videos on the Stamparatus and I have to admit I think the two plates and the way you can move them is brillant. However, i just can't afford another one. Thank you for sharing.

I didn’t buy a Misti. But, I have the WE’R Memory keepers, the Tim Holtz, and the Stamparatus. I loved the We’R Memory Keepers. It was the only one I had for a good while. It took me a while to start using the Tim Holtz Platform, but when I did, It’s the one I reach for. I haven’t really played with my Stamparatus alot. I do like it. Someone mentioned that you should have pointed out the hinged stamping. That is a plus for some, but is not something I would use very often. The Stamparatus is also good for 3 or 4 step stamping since you can use both sides of the 2 doors. I think it basically depends on what you need.

I have the Stamparatus. I bought a set of extra plates which is a nice feature. You can keep a stamp mounted on one or two plates and set aside for later if you need to move onto another project. I also bought a ruler stand (Millward) which I use to store my plates. They are meant for storing fabric rulers but hold the Stamparatus plates perfectly. I have the small one and it stores up to 4 plates.

I own or have owned each of these stamp platforms, and the new WRMK platform. I got rid of the Misti’s when the owner started her court cases and vowed never to buy another of her products. I like the Stamperatus and use it when I’m step-stamping, but the platforms I reach for more than any other are the Tim Holtz travel platform and the WRMK version 2. I know TH/Tonic have announced they are going to work with My Sweet Petunia to create something ‘she’ can live with, but I’ll stick with what I have now. Good review Alexandra, thank you so much 🌸
PS. I’ve never had a problem with any of them sliding about, but I don’t use hem on my glass mat, and Misti’s are way overpriced.

I have the MISTI, but I wish I had waited for the Tim Holtz/Tonic Studio stamp platform. My reasons are cost and the ability to you large paper sizes. The original MISTI is twice the price as the Tim Holtz version. I don't do much scrapbooking, but I'm going to make 2 identical scrapbooks for a friend that's taking her mom to Greece and Italy (3 weeks, so jealous) for her mom's 70th birthday. It would be nice to be able to use a stamp platform to speedy the process along!

With the stamperatus you can remove the platform and move it to a new position so that you could stamp the same stamp all the way up and down a page. Or stamp an image and flip it over, move it down a slot and stamp the next stamp next to it. Lots of options.

P.S. at about 11:10 in the video she actually shows the two-step stamping technique before she began to talk about it. As far as shifting the covers, you can just as easily do borders without shifting the cover too. One can assume that if you are a crafty person, you can figure it out.

Sandy Glover, Really? Talk about “haters” To begin with, I wasn’t even talking to you in my original response. So how about you start with your minding your own business. And who cares how long either of us have been stamping, really. But creative stamping didn’t even become much of a thing until about 35 to 40 years ago. And it was so incredibly young at that point that you had to know how to get your hands on supplies, as it was not readily available. So, whatever. You do your thing, and I’ll do mine. Meanwhile, again, you can start with minding your own business.

Thank you for emphasizing the NONEXISTENT Customer Service for the MISTI . She's downright nasty - all ego, greed & NO business sense whatsoever. The MISTI product quality has gone down significantly while the price has continued to skyrocket. MISTI Buyer Beware. ANY of the other stamp positioners will perform perfectly the intended basic function - BUT with better longevity, clean easier + have the added bonus of more versatility & full company support. (I own all 3 products reviewed here) I'm so happy you have called this out Alexandra, & that other commenters have voiced their poor customer experiences with MISTI. The skeleton deserves to be let out of the closet to potential buyers! Overall IMHO I feel the Tim Holtz/Tonic Studios is superior quality & gives the best bang for the buck. Unfortunately though I feel you overlooked features that set the Stamparatus a little apart from the others; and your testing method for all the platforms movement wasn't - let's say -'reality' to normal use :). TFS still helpful to those on the fence or doing research.

It changed the way I stamp and I will forever be in Iliana's debt for having the perseverance to bring this to market. I like the TH for not limiting the paper size. My Stamparatus is relatively new to me but I think it is the best built one. Very solid and versatile. Storage is not a problem for me. My favorite is “ The other one”. By we r memory keepers. I have Tim Holtz, I love that you can use clear stamps and red rubber stamps on the same card with very little effort I thought that was a brilliant feature. I should say that I like them all of course I started with the misty which was a game changer. It will always be awesome in my eyes. I was very surprised to like the we are memory keepers advance precision press as much as I do. That simple place the holes over the pegs system works perfectly every time and extra “ leaves”? I do not know what to call them but whatever you call them they are readily available pretty inexpensively so it would not be prohibitive to have five or six of them. Just shop around for price. So 3 layer or More flowers are effortless. The truth is I like them all! I do not know how everyone used clear blocks and hovered above them trying to Stamp perfectly on top of another Stamp?? Thank you MISTI for finding a better way....

The Misti came first and I think the fact I bought two of each sizes of Tim Holtz, especially after that ugly lawsuit from Misti when the Tim Holtz did not function the exact same way as the Misti was just a travesty upon the stamping community as a whole. I used to see Tim Holtz in stamping videos, but not anymore. Nasty Misti owner.

B B Tim Holtz is a bit of a guru for the mixed media and the crafting community. Sweet Petunia is a company who promotes one product really well. I think for many, there’s now a sour taste towards Petunia. They’ve sued a guru so they can continue to gouge buyers for extra cash on a far inferior DVD case.

I had an original Misti, but bought the Tim Holtz stamping platform a few months ago. I think the TM is much better quality than the Misti and also yields crisper, more defined stamped images. Iliana, the creator of the Misti, can be a pretty nasty person to deal with, even though she professes to be such a Christian. Very happy with the TM stamping platform. It's a better product for a very reasonable price.

Good review, however there is more to the Stamparatus that you didn't cover - features that the MISTI and Tim Holtz platforms do not have. As for having to remove the clear plates for storage, I simply remove the plates, lay them on the platform (as they came when shipped) and store it in the shipping box. The platform stays safe and sound. Stamparatus is more expensive than Tim Holtz and I nearly purchased his but I chose Stampin' Up because of the extra features (and their customer service is top notch).

Thank you for this. Do you know if platforms wear out? I'm disappointed in how my Holtz platform stamps so unevenly on larger stamps. I've removed red rubber stamps from their blocks, and can not get them to stamp evenly, even with pressure. I've been using new inks, and experimenting with both the acrylic and rubber sides, and also using foam. The results are mediocre. The platform is about 6 years old. It's so frustrating!

Please do not have both of the plates in the Stamparatus as you will break it to store it. It was not designed to have both clear plates lie flat and you will damage and possibly break the hinges and plates. I suggest that you watch the videos that Stampin' Up! provides to learn more about the various functions of this platform as it will help you get even more use out of it. I would say this about any of the platforms, if you are planning to buy one, do your homework and check out each company's website for information and videos that show how to use their platforms and determine which one works best for you and your situation. I was disappointed that the information about each platform as there were more features for some of the other platforms that wasn't covered. I think to show how much a platform moves around, it should have been demonstrated while actually stamping a project rather than just randomly pushing it around to give a true indication of how much each platform moves. Thanks for sharing your personal views on each platform and your preference. :)
