Hey everyone, what's your favourite tip Marc shared in this video?
Don't forget that you can pick up Marc's FULL Advanced Mixing course here:
promixacademy.com/course/advanced-mixing-with-grammy-nominee-marc-daniel-nelson/
Engaging 60hz without boosting on the Helios. Love it when saturation reduces the need for eq.
Amazing to see how he treated the synth. My first instinct usually to go in with a scalpel, but to see him just nudge it into the background with ease. Always love watching Marc do so much by doing so little. Master at work.
His dog having his best life at 2:10
I feel like a child leaving his nose print on the glass watching the master work.
Boom !
A comment as artistic as the song itself 😁😁
This is like ASMR or some kind of therapy as well as a mixing tutorial. Marc is like a meditation guru. I watched a second time to relieve stress😂. Thank you!
?!?
yeah whatever he is eating i want alot!!😁
It's his calm demeanor as someone said below.
Dude I hear you. I been listening to these on long walks. Learning but also allowing Marc to soak into my subconscious 😂
Amazing how Marc is 100% calm and 100% engaged in his work at the same time.
PAWS up to the producer resting in the background! 🐕 Thanks for the tips Marc! 🎹 Fantastic channel Warren! 🎸
Im producing such a similar song right now, I’m a 15+ years experienced producer and mixer, and I always leave here inspired and with new ideas, always learn, every time! ❤
Marc is awesome, how he explains everything, I think he's the best you'll find on youtube.... but the raw tracks are stellar really, they sound mixed already lol
The placement of the spring verb was beautifully balanced to me! Perfect sound and placement! Also, the Dbx on the guitar bus was a really nice call
Happy to see you back online recently!! Love these tips from you
Merci pour ce petit moment de magie...tout en finesse !!
Sounds great as always Marc. I love the Shadow Hills in the background just looks like a Supreme Audio Processor. I use the plugin on Mixbus. Love it
What a lovely song! Great work Marc!
Marc you a master of your trade my man. Great video and big thanks to the PLAP team. You guys and gals all rock!!!!
Perfect music to chill and amazing mix tbh, stellar reverb work!
By the way, the "Helios trick" mentioned around 5min, is not harmonic. It's really just an EQ shape. A lot of old EQ designs do this. As soon as you engage the curve (or the EQ), the EQ start to already boost or cut a little bit.
With the Helios, engaging the 60hz (with no boost or cut) actually boost the signal quite heftily. Giving around 2db of a very wide Q boost (ranging from 5hz to 2000hz!). Hence why it works perfectly on guitars ;).
But the harmonic on the Waves plugin, when doing this, are absolutely static, they do not change change at all.
Cheers!
Marc i really enjoy your tasteful choices, thank you for sharing, that Advanced course is in my todo list!
Great video! That tip about the Lexicon 224 and synths is one for the books.
just another awesome video by marc, great content as always. love you warren
That guitar sounds _sooo_ sweet 😻. Fantastic work as usual.
Thanks man! your my favorite affiliate of Warren, your advice is always tengiable were as the others are more talk talk and don't seem to add to this channel. I would like to see some great studio tours again if it would be possible. Great song Marc and cheeers!
English: It is always a pleasurable and educational experience to hear from the teacher Marc Daniel. Blessings
I realy can recommend thos course. Absolutly awesome.
Could watch Marc for hours to see how he turn Gold to Diamond.
Would like to see much more of the recording phase. Guess there‘s so much more stuff to learn and how to put your recordings to the next level
Sounds amazing and that doggo's sweet!
The drum sound on this track is super cool-present and up front yet within a distinctive lively ambience.
I'm a drummer myself and I'm just SO confused with the ambience. Is that brushes swishing on cymbals? Is that a compressor lengthening the tails of the cymbals? WHAT'S HAPPENING AAAAAAAAAAAA- ?
Love it! Hope you are well!!
Thanks ever so much!
Sunset Chamber. My go to as well on Seventh Heaven. Great features. Nice tones on the gats. Loving your plug in release. Mixing an important album through it. Once one begins to understand the Sidecar and EQ, they bring you down the home straight.
I have this course and it's awesome, as you can see.
Thank you for sharing. Always very insightful and far from all the b.s. I see a lot elsewhere.
Awesome as usual.
@Marc: Splendid as always! Is there a place where we can find your full mixing portfolio? A list of all the albums? Or songs?Just listening to your finished mixes teaches me so much! Thanx!
Damn this track is beautifully mixed great track!!! I'd love to see the multitracks to see it all layed out beautifully.
Love this track
Pingin bgt bisa mixing seperti ini....bagus bgt
Hi Marc great as always, just one info that maybe you don´t know, if you use the UAD Helios but the Legacy Version it acts like the Waves version , you can feel the low end just by selecting 60 or 100 like Andrew does.
Love this guy
thank you so much for sharing with us. it's so nice. but personally I always have difficulty compressing guitars with a recorded tremolo. in your example I find that the 160 kills the naturalness of the tremolo (maybe the yt compression) a question, how to control the dynamics of a guitar recording with its effects. follow manual or compressor? or both :) merci maître .
This song is so great. Listened to it several times yesterday. Whole album is solid.
Thank you!
@@ToddKessler Yeah dude! Best of luck to you on your musical journey; the world is better with your music in it!
@@billiamwalker7495 cheers!
just adjusted my speakers eq and position to this
Amazing content, thank you
Thanks ever so much
Is there any more info on the tracking session in this course? Wondering which amp was used. That guitar sound is so, so good.
He is an academy..,❤❤❤❤
To make a band dynamic on Q3 no need to activate anything you can just pull downward from the sort of top center of the big GAIN knob. And to expand, pull upward.
Magic ✨
Ahhhhh.....for once, an audio production video with music i actually enjoy. It really makes so many of these instructional videos hard to bear, also a reason why i was never able to become a full on sound engineer, so much music around that either annoys me or bores me to death. I love love love working with musicians/bands i appreciate though, what an experience that is/was, every time.
amazing video as always, can we have a question answered video approaching how Marc and other top notch mixers and producers deal with having to hear the same 8 bars for days ? I go to sleep with the melodies in my head and "working" while trying to get some sleep, how do you guys deal with this ? am I crazy ? Im afraid to get stuck on a melody and lose track of the whole song
What is you opinion of the Ferrofish Pulse 16 MX converter with 16 ins and outs?
The JazzMaster Baby! Ya!
What a cute dog!
Came for the mixing, stayed for the pup
His dog always cracks me up! 😂
Very tasteful drums.
Marvellous!
Thank you so much awesome
Thanks ever so much
@@Producelikeapro my pleasure maestro

With my eyes closed this video looks amazing 😂
Great,no multitracks for download ?thx
The multitracks are included with Marc's course over at promixacademy: promixacademy.com/course/advanced-mixing-with-grammy-nominee-marc-daniel-nelson/
Ahh Marc does wonderfully tasteful mixes
Glad you like them!
Great Marc!!! with the Helios i prefer the UAD legacy version for mixing rather than the one you use in this video.
So. Is there anyway u can help
I just bought focusrite scarlett 212 and idk what else to get. I have a Microsoft desktop. Do i need to buy protools? Is Vida the site for this? I am stressed. I have disabilities from brain surgeries and chemo, radiation, i just struggle with tasks but my emotions and musical passion must be expressed. Im lost
First, decide what your goals are.
"What to get" is a matter of what you want to do (that is, getting better results than raw lo-fi recordings with a cel phone). For example: Some people need several microphones to record different sources; other people don't need a mic at all - or maybe just one to do a voice-over or podcast. Microphones are a wide-ranging topic altogether.
And consider another path. You may prefer a simpler approach than a DAW/ProTools, because most DAW software has a long learning curve, and the variables can be endless. Garage Band is as simple as it gets in that domain.
Alternative: A self-contained Multi-track Recorder, along the lines of what Zoom and Korg (and a few others) make. They typically range from $100-$700 in cost depending on the # of track/channels. As a self-contained recorder+mixer with its own dedicated operating system ONLY about music, these things may be much more direct and free of the minutia that PC/Mac systems bring.
This approach can save you a lot of time and energy and money you don't need to be spending/stressing over just so you can make some decent recordings.
you can also get Reaper for free
You don't need pro tools. Reaper is only $60, and there's an unlimited demo that doesn't expire. Check that out and get a feel for what it's like using a DAW to make music on a computer. It's very capable and many pro tools users have switched to it because of the ridiculous pro tools subscription model.
I hope your situation improves 🙏
Ty brother, need to be around artists@@The247t
The dog haha
Sounds
Whats the name of the song?
What is the name of the band/song and is it released?
Todd Kessler, Only Love is real.
I’m mostly concerned about what happened to Marc’s sweater button. I need to know the story. 😂
Close your eyes and just listen to what this man has to say.
Any idea if Todd has a new album in the works?🙏
I do! And Marc will be mixing it😊
That’s great news I can’t wait!! Your music is amazing and in constant rotation 🤘
wow. almost 11,000 views in 24 hours. Go Marc!
Most acceptable weim!
How to get better _ get amazing sounding tracks from people who play amazing and do very little - got it
10:52 really tought you will start singing
Dude blew an epaulette. Damn.
Put some headphones on that dog!
I can’t watch Marc’s videos without seeing Jimmi Simpson.
not sure who that is but there’s meds for that
@@chinmeysway McPoyle from It’s Always Sunny, the man in black from Westworld. Also… there’s Google for that.
Sounds like someone's tapped into their Mark Knopfler collection...
recording is way more important than mixing.
This track definitely doesn't need pads...
I love how all of the instruments fade out completely and naturally. I can't stand recordings where things just end so abruptly and you don't get to hear everything else. I want the songs to fade out naturally as the music draws to a close and I love to hear the sound of instruments fading out completely Because it gives you time to think about the song. I can't stand when records are mastered where the songs just are all space together with no end. Gapless playback is great when you throw a party and you're telling your smart phone or speaker to play music without gaps but I don't think it's great for mastering an album.
damn! that music is such a yawn
Nice . But then , audience doesn't give a duck
What Amp was used for this guitar track?
Very nice! 😊
Thanks ever so much
How did he turn the two guitar tracks into one stereo track for that compressor?
Stereo aux
Yea, not sure what daw he's using looks like he transformed them into a single stereo track, not panning them both and sending them to a bus. I just learnt studio one cannot do this. So a bus it is@@NoQualmsTheArtist
@@barneyrubble8255 he didn't do this. Just panned the 2 mono tracks and sent them both to the same stereo bus and processed then together. And Studio One can do this, it can also combine mono tracks and split stereo track just like protools, but you have to do it in the pool not on the track.
