Thank you Barbara! I too love it when you film in real time. Seeing how you lay out and figure out what you like and or need in different spots is so helpful and I so enjoy your conversation along the way, whatever it is about. It feels like we are in one of your crafting get together parties! Thanks again dear Barbara, 😷🤗🥰❤️
I came here after Jo mentioned you as an inspiration in her videos and I am so glad that I found you. After losing my daughter recently I had given up all hope and was just living by biding my time. Your videos have infused me with newfound love for life and creativity. I always blamed myself for letting my daughter down, not being there when she needed me the most but I guess I am finding peace in the fact that she is somewhere out there wanting me to live my life in best way I can. Your videos give a 60 year old lady a purpose and a hobby to live by. God Bless - Charlotte
Oh my goodness, I can’t even imagine what you must have been through emotionally! It means so much to me that junk journaling can provide some comfort! ❤️
Charlotte & Lucy, I too lost a child it's been 6 yrs. I wish I knew about Junk Journeling in the beginning. I only found out about it 2 yrs ago when my son gave me a cricut joy for Christmas. It really helps when you r feeling down. Wishing you wonderful projects that will give you some peace. Welcome it's a awesome community!!
I am watching all the videos I can with collage in them to inspire myself for the piles I've been saving! So, thank you for slowing down and letting us watch your process. You have a very gentle voice and always interesting things to say. I feel like I can watch some, and collage some, then rewind if there's something I feel I missed seeing in your video. I like working with you by my side, Barbara. Thank you!
Wow, so viele Highlights für ein Journal aus einem Bogen Collage... Ich bin fasziniert! Du hast so ein gutes Auge, das alles zusammen zu stellen! Toll!
You have no idea how much a part of my art life you are now. During this lockdown I come here to escape from the daily horror show and spend my time involved in your precise, magical, rational world. It has helped me immensely. Sometimes just the sound of your is enough to centre me. I have been in self isolation since February 2020 because of health problems. Thank you so much for adding such positive energy to my day to day being.
Here in So Texas we are finally getting back to kinda normal! I understand about want to pamper ourselves! Go for it! And yes we want to hear you talk yourself thru the process ... thank you for sharing!
I enjoy hearing you explain your process as you work. Why you did or did not choose a certain paper or put it in a certain place helps me see options I may not have seen on my own. I have watched others turn the master board over and cut it from the back. I think that would make it less “personal “ as you cut it if that makes sense. Then once it is cut, you forget what it looked like as a whole and just appreciate the uniqueness of each piece. Of course, you would copy or scan it first. I think it would be cool to then cut the copy again in a different way to see a whole new group of individual pieces emerge.
Don't feel bad about letting us experience your gluing and ripping... I love the sounds and watching the whole process gets me itching to play with my paper!
I want to take a moment to let you know how inspiring this video is . I’ve struggled with making master boards, in fact I had given up on making them, after having watched numerous tutorials and struggling with composition. I’ve watched this at least 3 times and in the past 3 days I’ve successfully completed 10 master boards . It was all about shapes, rectangle and squares only and sticking with neutral . Thank you so much for all you do, I truly appreciate you and look forward to many more videos. 💙
LOVE LOVE LOVE watching you in real time! Hearing your thoughts and reasonings truly helps me learn to ask myself these things. Being super new to this world... Finding courage has been tough. You help so much! Thank you!!!!!!!!
I love watching you! You start my day out right. I am in an ephemera trading group. I used a large children's book with heavier weight paper. Covered all the pages with collage papers. Patterns on front. Plain on back. If you need a tag you just cut out the size you need. Worked out nicely.
I collaged using strips and used them on covers for a journal. I haven't made a whole mastrerboard, but when I needed a page for a signature, and only had scraps, I glued them all onto a plain white copy paper. It worked out nice.
Love, love, love! I enjoyed watching you cut and paste the base of this down. It's relaxing to me. I know how you feel about needing to get out and do something normal. We were taken off lock down last week and so far I've gotten a haircut, my eyebrows waxed, and a massage. Pedicure to follow on Monday! Enjoy your manicure!
I think you are an absolute delight, and I enjoy your conversation. I really like to see the process of your gluing things down. I don’t find it boring at all.
This was sooo enjoyable! I NEVER listen to a whole video because I get too impatient but I didn’t skip once because it was fascinating to see and hear your process! You have a gentle and relaxing voice too and now I feel chilled! Thank you!
You works so nice. Today I was very low, on the buttom. It was horrible. But I just had watching this colorful and nice video and I feel better that all today. I'm very grateful to you because now I'm thinking of a new project. I can't just believ!🙂 1 hour ago I layed on my bed and I was sad. Now I will DO something! It's so good! Thank you for your nature, your voice, every laughing. These mean to me very much. 🥰
Aaaaw Im so touched by your comment! I’m sorry you had such a horrible and sad day and to think that my video made a difference is just amazing! Thank you so much for your kind feedback and enjoy your project! ❤️
This was lovely! I love making mastervoards and watching others do it. I always see something new to adapt for my purposes. For instance, I must remember to cut a butterfly in half and add it the way you did. I have a box of butterfly die cuts remade and ready to go, so why don’t I use them more? I will now. Those calligraphy letters from the past were gorgeous thank you for being brave enough to use them! 😀. Your work is always a special treat. TFS. Enjoy your manicure. TFS I did. God bless and stay safe.
I really enjoyed this video. I don’t think it’s superficial to treat yourself, especially since most of us are just trying to survive the pandemic. Self care is important. Also, I have made master boards that I like and don’t want to cut up. What I do before I cut it up is scan it. That way I have a digital copy that I can print and use over and over again.
Yours is lovely! I chop mine with out a second thought. I have been on vacation and I packed 3 grocery bags of scraps to make these. In all I made 24 masterboards! Once home I will be chopping into journal covers and tags, postcards and ATC sizes.
I love this process.I enjoy your thought process as you go along. The first 1 did a couple of years ago I did wrong I think.I used all heavier paper and odd sizes. I keep running across it and throwing it back into a tag box. Maybe I should get them out and decorate them and see how I feel then.I was new then.Maybe a challenge would be to try and save them .I didn't add stamping or anything. Now 2 years later I have ephemera and nice supplies You have inspired me.Love your voice and stories and your cute laughter Thanks Barbara
This turned out very cute. Love the baby duck tag. I also enjoy making master boards, but mostly use mine for backgrounds. I almost always make the 8.5x11" which is standard paper size here in the US, then I can scan or copy them. I liked the not fast-forwarding through because you are great at speaking while working and you don't fade away like some others.
Awesome video! I enjoyed hearing how you chose the papers to use in your collage master board. So glad to hear that you are able to get a little freedom from the virus now. My community too is just gaining a little freedom. Take care Barbara. Hugs💕
Thank you Barbara for this lovely video. I love how you work and how you arrange your images, so neat and precise. The whole masterboard was lovely, but the "cut ups", WOW......... super cute. Love what appeared after you decorated them. Hope you enjoy your manicure tomorrow morning, but your nails and hands always look so good, you do a good job yourself. Enjoy the rest of the day, stay safe and well. Blessings and hugs. Diana - Cape Town, South Africa.
I was searching for "How to make a Masterboard" and came across your video. Lovely job! But what impressed me most was your stamp storage; How simple and easy is that to quickly find the stamp you are looking for. Mine are in a big tub - so I can't see them all at once (and forget I have them and buy another copy - oh dear!) and the one I want is often at the Bottom ! I'll get busy reorganising today! best wishes 🗄🗄🗄🗄
Beautiful master board. I do make them from time to time. I should do more. I usually make cards. I enjoyed this processes video and you have a wonderful cheerful voice. So much of a welcome these days.
If you don't want to cut up your master boards, take them to a printer and copy them and use the copy to cut up and save your master boards. Love your creative process!
Love your master board. I too have been making mine on 12x12 scrap paper so there is color on the back of the master board instead of just white for journaling. Then I cut mine up for tags, pockets and journaling cards. Love how yours turned out. 😊
For me it's easier to craft along with you if it's not fast forwarded. So I can finish the 12x12 paper this at the same rate you do. So I appreciate the regular speed video.
So much fun! It’s always so surprising how much different a board looks once it’s cut up. Here in British Columbia we are still restricted in our activities and travel, masks are mandatory and vaccines are just beginning to roll out. Fingers crossed this virus will be defeated soon. Thanks for the video 😊
I like to add the punched out dots, which I punch out on purpose, usually from a colorful paper that fits the page, and add them in sets of 3. When I make junk-envelope-journals, I like them to have a color scheme, so I always slosh some paint on a scrap, and use that for the dots.
Love these. On my masterboards I mainly use paper that are misprints (I make many oopsies 🤔) and once I have finished mine, I turn it over and cut it into pieces to use as tags and journal cards. It's always a nice surprise how they come out 😊. I put focus points/elements on my masterboards after I have cut them up and want to use them ☺.
I have just found your channel and I agree that cutting up the masterboard is very difficult. Sometimes I have to turn them over to cut them. It’s like the first time you rip a page out of a book. Thanks for a fun and interesting video!
I am really enjoying master boards right now. I found a video from Teal and Tattered and learned some different techniques. I love your perfectionism, i get it. I cut my master boards for tags and journaling cards. Yes, it is sometimes really challenging to cut them when i really like the whole collage. I really enjoyed your whole process, even the glueing!💙
I ❤❤❤ this! Thanks so much for not fast forwarding through it. Seeing your process really inspired me. I also loved seeing how to use the cutouts from your master board. I can’t wait to make one!
Nothing bores us while watching you!! Have you ever turned a masterboard upside down & cut it? It's really a surprise!! (You have to let go of your/our perfectionism!!)
I love this, I actually want to make one of these to put in a rustic frame and hang on my wall. This was great inspiration for me on how to do and what to use 👍❤️
I’m so glad I found this video!! I’m fairly new to junk journaling and have never heard of master boarding, but absolutely LOVE it! One of the reasons I fell in love with junk journaling is the beauty in randomness and how things that aren’t necessarily pretty on its own can be paired with other things to make something beautiful!! Great video, thanks so much!!! I’m going to go look for one where you use the mixed media in with it. 😀😀😀😀- new fan/subbie
I teach a class for Seniors in WA Australia and we cut our master boards to make backgrounds for cards and also note books and they look great. Thanks Andre.
I have just become apart of this journaling world. Loved this video, I am slowly watching all your videos. Love them. I do live in Utah so you made me laugh. Thanks for this wonderful inspiring video.
This turned out beautiful. I enjoy making master boards and cutting them into postcards to send to pen pals. I just made a new journal. Making a master board that matches it would be great so the tags, etc are ready to go.
I love watching these master board tutorials and watching the whole process in real time. These turned out so well. Hoping you will do more videos like this:))
Sometimes I watch a really good video and I go to hit the "like" button and realize that I have ALREADY done so because I was enjoying the video so much already! That's good content.
Hi Barbara. I made a master board using all different colors of mulberry paper intending to make tags. But once it was done, it was so pretty I framed it and hung it on the wall.
Ha! I love that you love the Southwest of the USA. I’m originally from New Mexico and miss it so much. I now live in Melbourne, Australia with my Aussie husband!
I make copies of it on my copier and then use that for other projects. That helps me to cut them up. I agree it is hard. I love your style, thanks for your great site.
I both like to make collage masterboards, and watch how others make them. Your videos are always interesting and inspiring. Keep up the good work! /Ditte
I enjoy listening to your thought process. You always make it look so darn easy. I went to visit each of the 6 new team members. They are all different but lovely; As I would expect them to be. I have not seen Maude on, she must be busy designing. I hope she is well.
@@49dragonfliesYou are pretty talented too! How many languages do you speak and or understand? That is a wonderful gift to have. You can reach so many people. You can probably travel extensively and understand what is going on, that would be awesome.
@@debraschultz8945 thank you Debra! I speak English and German fluently, some French and a tiny bit of Arabic. I would love to learn more Arabic, it’s such a beautiful language!
Love your twist on this. I liked what you did. I have quite a few papers like you to choose from. Going to make some myself. We have 7" of snow now, so I staying in and charting this weekend. Thanks so much for sharing.
This is my first time watching a video of yours. I did not know what a collage board was supposed to be. Thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed the process.
What a fun project sweetie 😍 love the journal cards and you inspire me to make more masterboards. Actually you inspire me to make some journalcards with special elements on them🥰 will let you know soon!
Glad you are getting to do something for yourself. Happy fingers. My weakness is getting my hair cut and highlighted. My customers would always complemented me on my hair. Then one day a customer said You must be a Leo? I didn't understand. Until she said Leo is a male lion, and the male always have beautiful manes. Laughed and said yes I must be because I roar like one too when I don't get my way. We all had a good laugh that day. Now I'm retired and have great memories to look back on. That pop up now and then. Which this one did when you were talking about getting your nails done. Have fun...
What a lovely masterboard... I haven’t watched you lately... fell down the rabbit hole and watched so many different artists on collaging/junk journals/journaling, etc. It really helped me though and been making lots of things!! But, I realize I miss your lil laughing throughout.. and your wonderful tips.. so I’m going to watch you more again.. 🥰
Barbra, I absolutely love your style! Thanks for sharing your master board process. I’m inspired to create this afternoon. It’s just too hot today in the 106 degree Texas heat!
Thank you Barbara! I too love it when you film in real time. Those calligraphy letters from the past were gorgeous thank you for being brave enough to use them! 😀. Your work is always a special treat. TFS. Enjoy your manicure. TFS I did. Thank you Evelyn! ❤️
I really enjoyed this video. I don’t think it’s superficial to treat yourself, especially since most of us are just trying to survive the pandemic. Self care is important.

Cutting up master boards is my favorite part. It always comes with surprises.
I think wanting normalcy in any capacity is super valid. I hope you enjoyed your nail appointment. :)

Thanks Tina! Good idea to use them for postcards! 😃👍🏻👍🏻
Hi! Your collaged master boards are great! Tfs!😊❤
I love watching these master board tutorials and watching the whole process in real time. These turned out so well. Hoping you will do more videos like this:))
Thank you! I will try! 😃
😃👍🏻❤️
💕 lovely video sweetie. I like it that it is in real time. Makes it so much more peaceful. And listening to you is always nice 💕😘

Ha! I love that you love the Southwest of the USA. I’m originally from New Mexico and miss it so much. I now live in Melbourne, Australia with my Aussie husband!
I so love your eclectic style... you give me so much inspiration!! Beautiful art!!
I make copies of it on my copier and then use that for other projects. That helps me to cut them up. I agree it is hard. I love your style, thanks for your great site.
Thanks Melody! ❤️
I had never heard of a collage master board before. Love this idea! Definitely going to make some ❤️
Thanks Tammy. Have fun with this ❤️☺️
A return to this one to refresh my memory.

Thanks! They are very addictive, aren’t they! 😃
I enjoy listening to your thought process. You always make it look so darn easy. I went to visit each of the 6 new team members. They are all different but lovely; As I would expect them to be. I have not seen Maude on, she must be busy designing. I hope she is well.
Thanks Debra! I’m very lucky to have such talented design team members! ☺️ I think Maud is ok, probably doing her own thing 😊
I'm a fan of "real time" videos❤

Glad you are getting to do something for yourself. Happy fingers. My weakness is getting my hair cut and highlighted. My customers would always complemented me on my hair. Then one day a customer said You must be a Leo? I didn't understand. Until she said Leo is a male lion, and the male always have beautiful manes. Laughed and said yes I must be because I roar like one too when I don't get my way. We all had a good laugh that day. Now I'm retired and have great memories to look back on. That pop up now and then. Which this one did when you were talking about getting your nails done. Have fun...
Love love 💕 the beautiful layout and tags 🥰thank you so much for the great ideas,
What a lovely masterboard... I haven’t watched you lately... fell down the rabbit hole and watched so many different artists on collaging/junk journals/journaling, etc. It really helped me though and been making lots of things!!
