Great question each MOBO manufacturer will install a different code or sequence to tell what the MOBO it having an issue with they will also sometimes includes beeps and noises to tell. It really makes me mad that they discontinued this product. This sounds crazy but I really wanted to be able to upgrade the whole motherboard because of how bulky it is. That’s the whole reason why I bought it

I believe not the r1 comes with 4 ddr4 slots where the r2 comes with only 2. It also has a SD card reader. Where the R1 doesn’t.
