I never understood why people went with hearsay as opposed to THE SOURCE! Read Brando's AUTObiography, read his interviews, his video and audio interviews..

Such an unappreciated movie. One of top 5 Brando performances and it's got a lot of heart. Glad to see some light and background given to it.

My all time favorite Brando films, Apocalypse Now and Last Tango In Paris, are extraordinary, could never be made again works of incredible art. Dark. Brutal. Depraved. Seething. Scary even. In that they’re portrayal of the utter worst of humanity is shown to be regarded with apathetic shrugs of meaninglessness. All is horrific. And it all means absolutely nothing. And that horrific reality that is the ugly side of human nature is scarier than any horror movie ever could be. Perfect films. Absolutely brilliant films. And Brando in these films is utterly transfixing and mesmerizing, and these are two roles only he could have pulled off. Truly spectacular. If you’ve not seen them, take care of that. Immediately.

Last Tango is such a bizarre, dark, profound film, and his performance is raw, and deep. The scene in the funeral home with his dead wife is one of the best scenes in film history . The simplicity and realism are extraordinary.

As this creative artist expounds, generously, about Brando when setting up the video clip, I cannot help but hear the words often yelled by every film director, “TIME IS MONEY!!!” The host enjoys the memories, yet strives to address the very subject(s) his professionally written questions and notes prefer to gain specific insights on. And finally, the memories are graciously trailed off.

This interview is awesome. What a treat to be introduced to Frank Delaney. ("Where's this guy been?!")

I enjoyed The Freshmen, especially when it first came out.
What surprised me, was that it was Brando's idea to play it like the Don, and not them talking him into playing it that way.
It says a lot about how he perceived his role in The Godfather, and it's significance, in cinema history, and him personally.
For all intents and purposes, he reprised the role of the Don.

Until we see the video of his acting classes directed by Frank Oz , we shall never know what he wanted to teach at the later part of his journey. They have been confiscated: we wait to see them.

The documentary about him (with Johnny Depp, etc.) has also been confiscated. It aired, I believe, just once. Do you know the story? Is Brando's estate causing the problems?

There are so many great actors and actresses, its always been bizarre that one can select just one and say he was the greatest. Surely he was up there with the best. Possibly what turned us off to the guy was his off stage life and abuse of other people. Nobody should get a pass on that.

    • @8lata
      @8lata 11 місяців тому

He did NOT abuse others. He was gentle and respectful even with people who were bad to him like Frank Sinatra.

His wife Anna kashfi LIED and married him and he should have thrashed her but she writes a book saying Marlon ruined her. The fact that he remained married to her for almost a year and nursed her through tuberculosis in the hospital for ten months.. The t.. T forgot than. She was so ugly how did he bear the torture of having her around.

I have a theory as to why Brando became SOOO obese.
If you watch any interview with him, he poo poo's damn near everything in regards to acting, the biz, and the fame that comes with it. I don't know if he really felt that way, but it seems he did not like the attention he received as a result of his acting. Mostly however, he rejected how people commented on his appearance, and just how beautiful he was in his younger days. To him vanity was the worst trait anyone could have. He despised it.
So in order to stop that flattery and attention ... he "marred" his own beauty, by becoming the very opposite of what the culture perceived as beautiful. It was his own self-loathing, the loathing of other superficialities and the loathing of those who wanted a piece of MB. By that I mean sex.
By taking his obesity to staggering proportions, wad his way of self harming, and disfiguring his body and image.
It also probably was exacerbated by depression.

Thank you in return ... you're the only one who's picked up on it, or even reacted with agreement.
I believe he had tapes that he did himself. Unless I'm confabulating that with Cary Grant, but I do think Brando did as well. That is what came across to me, along with his interviews. Going back to Connie Chung and Cavett..
His transformation went far beyond simple over eating, and medical conditions, it seemed deliberate. Once you have that revelation, then the next question is why.
His interviews fills in the gap, as to why. Whether he was cognizant of it, I don't know. But if he started to see results, and went A-HA !!!
Then proceeded to eat Tahiti. People will do the strangest things to harm themselves, short of committing suicide. There always seemed to be a mental health issue there
Yes, he was an amazing actor, and in his younger days ... you can see why EVERYONE said he was beautiful.
I just wished he could have been more prolific. Like now, many older actors are now being given opportunities to work, even in their 80s and 90s. Which up until about a decade ago, it was rare. We get to see actors whom the next time their name came up, would be at the Oscar's

Because he wanted to make a self-parody of himself as Don Vito Corleone, one of his most iconic characters. Only Brando could reprise his role as Don Corleone in such a humorous fashion. In my opinion, and with due respect, the fact you don't like the movie, which is very respectable, does not mean it is a bad movie at all, on the contrary, it was well received by critics at the time of its release, and with the passing of time it has become kind of a cult movie. Stay well!

He needed money for his son Christian's legal fees. Christian shot a man in Brando's house in 1990. His many children were always expensive. Brando did a few movies in th 90s for money to pay lawyers.
