The Cessna 404 still remains a great airplane to fly. Love the geared engines and the big props. Very nice plane to fly. My personal favorite is still the C-421 for piston twin.

Great video. flew the 404 as my first commercial job, single pilot with 300 hours🙈 really enjoyed the experience. Just button pushing on the airbus 12000 hours later! Fabulous colour scheme.
I have about 2000+ hrs flying the 404 Titian as a freighter…..a great tough airplane, but the engines can be temperamental and require care and planning to ensure you don’t shock cool them. Treat them right, they can go over factory TBO in 135 with FAA approval….but treat them wrong and they have a shockingly short life, often 600-900 hours…..
Hi Konstantin, really enjoyed your flights from Germany to Iceland and then to Greenland. It was odd to see Reykjavik Iceland without it being snow covered in December. Really enjoyed the White puffy clouds you flew in between on the approach to Iceland. The scenery coming into Greenland was really beautiful as well. I have considerable time in the C404 and found it one of the best non-pressurised piston aircraft. Massive load carrying capability and very versatile and a delight to fly.

Thank u for the video, what i can observe when you are landing - you are on final - the way you respond to movement of the 404 is correct - u don't randomly move the yoke, but feel the need of input. I have seen so many - even airline pilots randomly moving the yoke left and right up and down trying to control the aircraft when the plane was on a stabilized approach. Think this comes from education. Want to have a beer with u one day and happy new year....
Thanks for the comment! That is true, bigger planes from airlines make people think it needs a lot of action done, which is not true :) But even sometimes i saw that people do this “jerk😀” manoeuvre a lot when not needed in the airliner also 😭

Great adventures you're having. Nice to see you got a checkout in the Uaz Hunter! Long flight in that tiny plane. Cape Air in Boston flies a large fleet of them. Love to do that route in a bit smaller plane some day. I took a lot of notes.
Konstantin, my mistake, they run (60) Cessna 402C's that they are slowly replacing with Tecnam 2012's. Kind of the Daddy of the 404. Yes, we had lots of Uaz and Kamaz in Kyrgystan and Uzbekistan. Very rugged vehicles.

A question I always wondered: why is Wick the usual stop over on small plane transatlantics? Stornoway would look like being positioned slightly better. Does it have to do with available services?
I checked ant it looks good on services, fuel etc. I could only assume it is a habit + you fly closer to Faroe Islands - safety iceland half way down the route, but i will study that option to be honest. Wick provides safety equipment and raft rentals, i can also consider it as a benefit to land there…
@@KFEAvia I guess it's the raft rentals etc. And the folks you met seem familiar with that sort of mission. The one time I did such a route we went through Stornoway, Vagar and up to Egilstadir (single engine birdwhacker, so no attempt to go straight to Reykjavik). We brought the oxygen, extra tanks, rafts and life vests from the start though, so I guess the services in Scotland weren't that important.
Are you guys flying this VFR all the way? Also Konstantin quite curious about your customised Bose headset.... it looks like a noise cancelling non aviation headset to which you have added a microphone. Is that the case?

Have made that run a couple of times. Were you dodging th ehigher altitude winds? Why not get up where the engines were more fuel efficient? It's basically an unpressurised C421. Thos engines like the high teens.
Ralph, i get your point, but we try to cut the video to max 30 mins, that takes a lot of talking out, a lot of ATC too. They are mostly hardly readable 😀 Sorry, trying to keep it shorter 😁

Hello! Good question, it is different, but not that much. 100-200 Fahrenheit is ok. They don’t have to be the same, they have to be 125 Fahrenheit LESS then a PEAK EGT on a particular engine. Engines are different and can have different EGT, but the same performance.
It was an unexpected malfunction and when you ferry a plane - you never know what can be faulty (if not a critical thing of course). It worked particularly in the route though…
@@royshroud9536 good point, but to get it into a flat spin at 10.000 feet, what do both ATP and CPL pilots have to do? I mean 0.5% chance is there, but God must not like us a lot to do that 😀😀😀
Thanks Sam. I have a big hang up about flying VFR outside of the UK. I have a UK only restricted IR (no Class A) which I exercise almost every time I fly. So feel trips across Europe VFR are too restrictive. Your video gives me hope to get over it.

Sometimes you have to order 24 hours in advance. Sometimes just 2 hours.

Very dangereuse flight's with an very old plane I had to flight on it in France but never did it thanks God
Old doesn’t mean unsafe or dangerous. This aeroplane undergo mandatory maintenance which keeps them in a good shape.
