0:23 Why have they edited that video onto the screen? Pointless dramatisation

Probably didn't have a shot or good video of him doing that, although that's what he did and means better transition

For those commenting on the cables. If those dotted lines were to scale, the cables would be a couple hundred of metres thick. Besides, they're not hard to find with the right EM equipment.

This is starting to look a bit Royal Navy Top Gear from the trailers!. Amusing to watch but likely a bit more so for the lads on the ship hamming it up. Best production values sods opera of all time though!.

So the Russians tried to play submarine and crashed into the Type 23’s towed sonar array which has them well and truly found long before any incident.

No, it looked like the ship turned acrosss the sub and the inevitable happened.

Makes then look like they couldn't manage a rowing boat.

There is always an older submarine sitting in that spot acting as gate guard for newer more valuable submarines
going through the SOSUS line heading south. A predictable target in a predictable position.

Royal Navy vessels “porcupines” of the sea, well-defended but little bite ?

More like hitting a Russian submarine haha. Accidents happen nonetheless, keep up the great work. Not a frigate fan but can't wait to see the type 26.

I don’t believe the loss of a single cable would result in the loss of internet. The internet was originally designed in the event of a nuclear war that if a route was destroyed, data will automatically switch to a different route. The internet sends data through packaging that takes many different routes.

It wouldn't, there making the point the Russian's can cut or damage our communication's, the internet can only re-route if that route is still active. It's not new the Russian's were at in my RN day's.

Still stunned this stuff is about to be broadcasted to the general public.

@@henryvagincourt4502 when I talk about rerouting, traffic will literally go down other cables, even via different countries. This is happening all the time as normal. Packages for a single email or UA-cam download can even get to you by different countries. They are broken up into bits and reassembled.

When Snowden made his remarks about the NSA and GCHQ intercepting Continental European - US internet traffic, as well as hacking Merkel's personal mobile phone, various governments immediately tried to re-route "sensitive" traffic away from the U.K. They failed miserably because what routes are available either lacked capacity or went via even less secure routes such as Africa - South America or Caribbean.

@@photoisca7386 It was disgraceful that Snowden whistle blowed those secrets. At least one of the reasons why the UK bought OneWeb was that it would be more secure.

I'm not ex-navy but this lot look unprofessional to me. Everything from filming with their phones on the bridge to the giggly girls. I like how the officer says, oh we will cover up the gun from the elements. Yep nothing like closing the door after the horse has gone. That's my opinion of it anyway.

All the videos I see of UK Navy, it seems very amateurish, poorly prepared ! The proof of that is this incident, the F-35 incident ! Unacceptable ...
