Funny that he WONT ever make a rap album. Also 'its a trope' is funny. Unless its literally his life and ended him up in jail for real reasons. But you'll cheer like free him. But would you free someone to live in your house under the things he's been charged with?
(Irony, most people say yes. And I hope they have to experience the crimes he's committed directly to them.) Cause you'll make a scene about "free someone" but you'll do that still knowing you don't want anything like him around you. But you'll still yell about freeing him.

1:05:00 Barter 6 and Rodeo are 2 of the three trap "holy trinity", along side DS2. They all came out in 2015 when trap was really starting to become mainstream by the three biggest artists in the genre. They are all some of the most important and influential albums at the time, and have prevailed in just about any trap albums that have been released since. DS2 is the most traditional and raw, Rodeo truly took cloud and made it mainstream along with giving trap an energy it hadn't seen before, and Barter 6 is the epitome of leaned out freestyles over hypnotic instrumentals which was the groundwork for the SoundCloud boom to become mainstream. So, to answer your question as to how fans rate Rodeo and Barter 6? They are THE MOST influential trap albums released in the past 10 years and music today would not sound the same without them.

This album I think will reframe the way you look at trap going forward because you just listened to the father of almost all of modern HipHop. For example I think if you relisten to die lit with that unexplainable subtle feelings you get from the vocals in mind I think it could hit harder. That trance feeling from the vocals being an instrument is special with thug and a lot of his clones. Obviously these guys have a rep to uphold also so just outright saying their problems wouldn’t fly so they convey those emotions with subtle lyrics and feeling in the voice. Same way the blues works really. It’s beautiful. Barter 6 is perfect. Thug is the goat. You have to do the rest of his album’s chronologically to hear the growth and experimentation in his later albums. Like he makes country HipHop at some point and it’s hard af. Lol

48:05 that’s exactly what he means. Dope that you caught that so quickly. Barter 6 being a play on Carter 6 which at the time, Wayne was being held back from dropping due to contractual issues, and at the time a TON of people were comparing thug to Wayne (I never really understood that, other than them being affiliated with most of the same people). Thug was the newer / fresher artist for Cash Money and Wayne was sorta seen as the old legend trying to keep up with the kids. a lot of people thought thug was using this whole album concept as a diss to Wayne. When in reality he meant it as honoring Wayne. So yes, he had to check the people who were creating that false narrative, that he might “eat it, lick it, but never bite em”. He’s honoring Wayne big time here, basically admitting to being inspired by Wayne, but he’ll never bite his style.

Trap excellence is the best way to explain thugger's albums. Often in hiphop, vocals, lyrics and beats/sound engineering tend to "fight" in the sense that every artist specializes in one or at most 2, young thug is one of the few artists that can mix all three things together at will, with any track and on any beat. People mention the silly lyrics, but if you pay attention there's a pattern to when he blurs words and when switches the rhyme scheme, it's either to allow the engineering to transition the beat or to let the melody follow into the next. He didn't always have this skill, his older projects contain some very rough attempts at this but I genuinely think he perfected it now

Slime Season 2 Reaction! Thug's best album imo, and has some of the best singing/rapping flows you'll ever hear. If you like Barter 6, you'll love SS2.

Like I said on the last vid, if your interested Young Thug made a remix version of Drake's "The Language" called the "The Blangauge", it's pretty great, I think you would enjoy it.

27:35 It was a miss with a majority of people at the time. I remember I was in middle school listening to Barter 6 and many people either didn’t take Thug serious or just didn’t like it due to the “mumbling.” It was really pushing the limits of rap at the time with the outlandish lyrics and it was something people weren’t accustomed to. I would say it wasn’t until So Much Fun that people starting giving Young Thug his props. People since have gone back to give Thug’s discography a chance and realized what they were missing, just a guy having a good time.

Saying it was a miss with majority of people is kinda hyperbole. Most people enjoyed it only the super uptight, hip hop community full of mainly oldheads hated on it as well as every other southern artist that came up when that style of music was unique and different( future, migos, e.t.c).
