i really loved the addition of guns takedowns, it made the game feel more like john wick game (including slow motion for those high efficiency shots) also finaly i found a channel solely about game takedowns! i love takedowns in games
There's a few more pistol moves I didn't see like doing a choke hold and shooting them 3 times in the back and if you use the 3 burst weapons any kind it shoots multiple shots all the time. This game got soo much better once I stopped using square.
I'm always trying the stealth approach in games.. But. Those pistol takedowns look so badass, and even more badass without a silenser... So I'm playing watchdogs "half stealth". Enemy always knows that Aiden is here somewhere because of the gunshots and bodies, but never know where exactly
It would be wild to have actually decent melee in a GTA game, as so far, it has always been janky, clunky, and completely useless. The combat has always been "quantity over quality", where you just have a lot of guns, but you only use like 2. Adding some kung-fu would definitely make the combat more fun.
Its more the context that, at that point in the game, you, nor Aiden knows Quinn ordered the hit, hes the biggest mob boss on Chicago, why would he care about some random hackers in the merlout? Its revealed later why he cared about it, and the fact it was Damien's fault why he cared in the first place
Watch Dogs 1 and 2 have some of the smoothest looking and feeling gameplay in any Ubisoft game. The animations flow so smoothly and they’re quick, they don’t have pauses in between or look clunky. Animations aside the gunplay is fun and challenging, the stealth is really rewarding specially when paired with hacks and the general flow is just *SMOOTH*
This game was honestly great. Very Edgy and Grim dark story mixed with basically John Wick Gameplay. A pity Ubisoft took it and fucked it on the kitchen floor with asking.

But if the game limited your crafting spam and grenades, if takedowns would be the only way to heal or there was some other element that really forced the player to run in rather than shoot from afar, I think more people would've enjoyed the game and played it "the right way".
I think the most letdowns were from trying too hard with driving mechanics that Ubisoft could have borrowed from the Driver series or that in every installment your character can carry ALL weapons without impunity. Had they polished the driving, restricted weapon carrying or made storyline more interesting, people would stop call it a "GTA clone with AssAssIn's Cheek running animations".
Fun Fact for both of ya! What you're mentioning wanting were all cut from the game. In the earlier versions they are all present. Unfortunately due to different reasons, it sems they never got implemented along with cut cutscenes sadly.
Craftable black outs and hacking power outages helps a lot during night time or inside buildings, especially if you're already in combat. You should be able to chain a few takedowns before they start to see you again.

Man, I always liked the fact that character ACTUALLY uses ammo in kill takedowns.
And if the gun were empty, they'd use the melee one.

Imo, the game looked really bland when walking around in daytime. Dusk and nighttime, however, is beautiful.
