when you have the licensing and short supply you can do whatever you want. i think they should be able to give you money back for sending in your old pieces. or if you had to upgrade within a certain time frame.
The QR looks solid but you should have given everyone who bought your QR's in 2022/2023 a discount. You sold faulty products. The plastic QR was a danger and the metal one clearly had issues as well.
1:08 Do NOT use the torx tool to unscrew. You will strip the screw as wheels may come with screws too tight to unscrew for the little torx bit. Screws may have a combined slot that fits both torx and allen key, use allen key if you can and the torx bit only to tighten again.
Interesting to note that today I received my Fanatec order. As well as a CSL DD base and McLaren GT3 wheel, I'd also ordered the QR2 components. Interestingly, the GT3 wheel came preinstalled with the QR2 compatible washer. So I could skip that step 🙂 Not that it made the upgrade any quicker, because I was confused by the need to have to replace one plastic washer with what appeared to be an identical plastic washer! Next step, QR2-ing the base...
i hear that i just figure there’s many a person who’s going to just tighten them to what feels right, base side and wheel side. these wrenches aren’t cheap either, so it’d be nice to throw in a different kind of measuring method. also it didn’t look like they used any tools in the video. soooo, 😂.
i bought a csl dd with a bmw m2 wheel. At that time the v2 bmw wheel was already annuncied but fanatec send me the v1. Will i be able to fit this new qr? thanks.
It can be done but it's a bit fiddly and requires some third-party pieces and disassembling the wheel. I've done it but it wasn't simple to convert the internally mounted QR to the externally mounted type.
simple set up took me less than 10 mins I converted my base and all my wheels in under a hour. one thing though make sure you use a torque wrench when converting your wheel base set it for 8 NM no more no less.
This will take some getting used to. I am used to the old loud click when the base and the wheel are connected. Now, it doesn't make much of any noise at all that I get nervous it isn't properly locked in when it is.
@@MaxHasManyHobbies Not really. I would describe it more like a barely legible "thunk". There's not much of any difference between the sound of it sliding onto the shaft and when it locks.
If you are talking about the screw on each far side of where the new QR connects to the wheel, you're not supposed to undo those. Just the 4 screws that are around the base.
When are new hubs and rims coming standard with QR2? I would like a new hub but not buying now only to see new Hubs come with QR2 just after i buy one.
I bouth the CSL DD and Mclaren rim. The wheel isn't at the center even after calibration. If i try set it to position zero, then it turn itself to the left 3 degress. Even at the track when i take off hands from the wheel or hold it light at the straight for some hend rest car is definatelly turning to the left. The QR1 ligt and FFB was great... for the first 3-4 days. Then the sound of the clunk did appear, but thats not the real issue. The issue is the clunky feeling of the ffb because of it. Because of it even my old worn out thrustmaster felt way better.
@@momorious It is an issue. In the game when i drive slow car turn a lot to the left for me so about the 3 degress. When i drive fast at monza it still do this a bit, when lets say I wanna write something fast in the same moment. At the old wheel I could do it no problem. With the CSL DD I cant...
@@peterenis4752 but this is normal for the CSL and GT DD due to their design regarding the magnet placing. There is nothing you can do other than increasing NDP and NFR which help to stabilize the wheel.
@@momorious Then i start regretting even more I didn't buy moza. This is very annoying issue for me because I like to write at the straights while driving.
Oh great, qr2 is finally out, but how would you release this with an outdated wheel lineup that's 2+ years old , and not something new and fresh. No wonder moza is taking over.
We are sorry to hear about this. Currently our Customer Care Team is facing a high number of requests due to logistical delays in Europe. This means that the current response time will take more than a couple of days, but they’ll take care of your concern. We want you to know that once our Customer Care Team is aware of your claim, they’ll file a claim with FedEx and then send you replacement units. Your Fanatec Team
This QR seems to be good this time. BUT, a discount would have been welcome for former customers who have to go back to checkout for your mistakes.
Exactly! But they don’t care at all. Very greedy, selfish company

Cant wait to get my package "completely shipped"/really shipped. My order is in progress since I ordered them an hour after release.
Same for me, checking UPS daily to see if Fanatec missed out on updating my order.

So you need the QR2 base side for the QR2 Wheel side?
Yep

Beautiful Al! Thanks for the feedback. We hope you could already go around for a few laps with your new simulator! 😊
Is this compatible with podium button module endurance?
Yes
how do you know what 3nm is ?? i’d prefer something like hand tighten and a quarter turn… thanks for the allen key though.
You have to buy a torque wrench that can switch ends for an Allen key or Torx key.
i hear that

Seems similar to the first version (aluminum not plastic). What am I missing?
A lot
Compatible with F1 Esports Wheel?
Is it fine to attached the QR2 without washers? The GT wheel doesn't have washers
No, we don’t recommend attaching the QR2 Wheel-Side to your steering wheel without washers underneath the screws.

Im new to Fanatec`s tech, im not sure if you need this thing to use your wheel, its just a quick release right ?
This will take some getting used to. I am used to the old loud click when the base and the wheel are connected. Now, it doesn't make much of any noise at all that I get nervous it isn't properly locked in when it is.
It still clicks if you don't pull up on the ring when you push the steering wheel onto the base at 3:07

What screw s do you use on the mclaren GT3 V2 around the pins
The new ones.
@@momorious Thank you
No instructions for Formula v2 / v2.5. There are two fasteners that are inaccessible from the exterior?
What do you mean? Everything is accessible from the outside on every compatible wheel.

Hey there, you can already buy almost any rim or e.g. the Podium Hub together with a QR2 Wheel-Side. 😊
Wish I could actually buy one to play !
Why do we need this now? Do the new wheels not come with the connection anymore?
A QR gets attached AROUND the pin connection.

It's normal that the wheel moves 3 degrees to one side due to the magnets. This wont be an issue in game due to active FFB though.

Is the in-game wheel perfectly straight when the wheel base goes to the 3 degree off position ?

Looks like the coating is different than the final one… wondering why. Looks more like the coating of a QR2 Pro - less abrasive.
No stock of wheel side C type, been that way for a while, and the older QR1 is out of stock too so Ive been told. Fanatec still in a bit of a state
Fed ex lost my shipment and fanatec is doing nothing why do i pay for shipping i should get the insurance money then since i paid for it

Why's this better than last one
Because the last one is QR1 and this one is QR2. This is the 2023 model. 😂
