    Just replaced my manifold and rebuilt my carburetor and yes the new manifold had rough edges. I ground them to a smooth rounded curve and the back of the T smooth. Runs great ! FYI , keep on hand a fuel valve o-ring, after 83,000 miles it split and leaked.
    Glad to be riding after two years of it sitting. When your 69 you have to stay in shape for this heavy steed.

    Nice video walkthrough. Just remember, any gain in horsepower by porting the manifold, is a trade-off with getting less miles per gallon on your fuel consumption. There is always a trade-off, between more horsepower and more frequent stops to fuel up, especially when cruising long distances. Just saying. I have a stage 1 mod, with a K&N filter and Cobra Speedster Longs, exhaust, but, and that was all the trade-off for me, decided against porting the manifold, and weakening the rubber manifold, walls, too. Too each his own, as I say, though. Happy trails to you.

    this is great video! I need to clean the carb of my 06 road* and I have never done b4, I feel kind of intimidated by this but after watching this video I think I can do it. My bike problem is that need the choke for about 2 min to idle fine, she runs fine after but the starting part is what is hard for her, hopefully a good cleaning will fix the problem. Thanks again.

    Hay there I have a 2000 Silverado has around 64,000 miles on it. Daily rider.
    Was wondering if that’s a steel manifold?
    The one on mine seems like it’s plastic and I’m sure I need to replace it has cracks all over it 😅

    Nice video, good information. But missing port matching. The mismatc between the manifold and the port opening probably is the most congestion you may have at your manifold. If you don't do port matching, all this work is - well, not pointless, but also not finished.

    So I'm basically rounding out the sharp edges inside the T correct also wanted to know where u got the lil plastic cap for the piece on the manifold I don't have on on my current or new one

    • @Jadams1911
      @Jadams1911  2 роки тому +1

      The cap blocks air from being sucked into the engine because it will make your bike run to lean and back fire.. The stock bikes have a hose connected to the nipple and it is routed to the front of the bikes frame with a plug on the end of the hose. Many hardware stores carry rubber caps that will fit the nipple.

      @@tkong35 Just round the sharp edges inside the manifold. and use new o-rings when you reinstall the manifold. only do one thing at a time to your bike just incase you have an issue, that way you will know what to look at that is causing the problem.

  • @jeremyrowe5602
    @jeremyrowe5602 2 роки тому

    I have both. The PR version and the stock one. The biggest difference in the PR version is that when you look through the manifold from the carb side you can see into both of the motor ports about 3/4 on an inch. Not on the stock one. The biggest gain is 1/2 throttle and above. The flat spot when it pulls with the stock manifold is gone, now it continues to pull all the way to rev limiter.

      The needle set in the carb controls the float and that's what regulate the fuel. So it doesn't matter if you use a pump or not you'll be getting the same amount of fuel. It should have no affect with fuel mileage by going humpless,

    • @Jadams1911
      @Jadams1911  7 років тому +2

      When have a pump and ride in hot weather the fuel can boil in the line causing a pressure build up that causes fuel to come out of the carb because the pumps blocks it from going back into the gas tank. My 06 still has the pump and it has puked gas from the carb a couple times after I've ridden for long distances in hot weather. .
