I give you a ton of credit for not giving up on the Ryft. This is why you have the best RC channel. You may need to install the 2 speed conversion but I heard that has had issues with shifting and the servo setup.
Lower kV only gives you more torque per Amps, but a lower kV motor(same size) also uses less amps. So when you power the system according to the space sheet, they'll have the same toque.
What are you talking About ? Kv is a measure of rpm per volt if the motor would be used as a generator..... higher kv more speed less torque that’s all ..... don’t pull amps into this .... current has nothing to do with this
@@martinskamla6789 It seems you misunderstand what I'm saying. Two equal motors with the main difference being kV will produce the same toque. And it's calculated using Amps, not voltage. I'll link you a video that explains it if you want.

The ryft is not built for crawling or high speed. It is designed for bursts of high wheel speed and relatively low speeds. This is used to bounce up very steep hills. If you search on UA-cam "rock bouncer competition" you can see what the real ones do to get an idea of what axial was trying to mimic. I personally find mine always breaks on 4s but is alight when using on 3s for the intended purpose. In my personal opinion it's a very niche truck that requires specific conditions, however if you have the niche then it's great fun right out of the box but with your upgrades it's particularly great lol.
With the Spektrum systems, the delay is either how many milliseconds you bound it at. If you already have it bound at 11 Ms, then your delay is in the neutral position on your throttle. If you up your throttle trim to just below where it starts moving on it's own, you should be good.
@@KevinTalbotTV ohh, you are referring to the throttle curve. Probably a combination at both the neutral position of the throttle as well as the throttle expo. It's been quite some time since I fine tuned a hobbywing system, but look up something that relates to throttle curve or exponential
Kevin, that seems close to the same delay I used to have with my senton when new. Ended up being the radio system. I changed the receiver to work with my DX5c and all the problems went away.
If I had one I'd put the vitavon/treal axle housings and make it like an icelandic hill climber. Got some good hills my way, just go flat out up em, roots, rocks and all
Kev you should have a look at what Joe from Exocaged Rc did to his mate, he's got a lot of Vitavon upgrades bit he uses it as a basher on 4s. All the best.
This is so cool 🤭! For fifty years I've been researching whatever hobby I was into at the time by memorizing the catalogs. Now all I have to do is watch your videos 🤓 and I get to see what I used to think 🤔. Whether it's planes, boats, cars, trucks, motorcycles or whatever, it has to be overpowered 😎!
Rock bouncers are made to bounce over things you’d normally not be able to crawl, like a steep hill you just send it and get over stuff a crawler can’t. There’s some pretty cool videos of full size competitions they find near vertical cliffs and rip up em.
Try the motor calibration, unplug the esc from the receiver, power on the esc with set button held and keep it held for about 10 seconds and it should go into calibration and the motor start rotating slowly. Once that’s done plug it back into the receiver and perform the esc/tx calibration.
Great video Kev. I do really like the Ryft but with the issues out of the box I haven’t pulled the trigger on this yet. When I’m ready to drop 1k on a Ryft I’ll get mine. 😂😂😂👊👊👍👍
I had the same power/break problem as well. I tryed different sper gears with a very small increase of throttle response. I ended up changing the ESC ( funny fact; I had to put the ESC out of my XMAXX 8's. It worked for me so if I was you, try a different ESC, try a different receiver, or motor! I'm sure you know that your hand held remote control has a option to do 70% gas when trigger is squeezed and 30% break when trigger is pushed forward! That's training mode, then there is normal mode, 100% gas, 100% break, 100% reverse, then race mode, 100% full gas and breaks but no reverse! Have you thought about getting into rc construction equipment that is hydraulic powered and very heavy and powerful?

You need to bind the motor to the ESC. All the AXE systems are that way and you can't do that from the app.
I was thinking the same thing.
I have the hobbywing max 5 in my dbxl-e 2.0 and it has that hesitation on start. I went through the binding process and it didn't help.

its not that sort of delay, the esc takes ages to ramp up, its like the punch has to go up but theres no option to do it that i can see

Turn off the FOC throttle match in the esc setup.. I think that's the reason of the delay and smoothness.
The ryft was made to chase random stray cats. That’s why it’s fast.
I bet the delay might be the receiver and not the esc.
It'll certainly be good when you get it going properly👍
did the hair loss company give you a script? but RC companies don't?

Kev, what was the total cost of all the upgrades? Thanks buddy!!!
I recon that thing would be good over some sand dunes etc, and fast uphill runs.
Did you check if the esc was going into reverse when going forward ? Then there will probably be a delay.
