Just to correct you, Wrexham did not drop out of the League in 1992 - yes, they were bottom of the 4th division, in 92nd place overall, but that year there was no relegation from the League because back then there was no automatic relegation from the Football League (teams only got thrown out of the league if they were really bad over a period of years, or had gone bankrupt).

@@jackgrimse OK, the history is a bit complicated. Until the 1980s the Football League (tiers 1-4) was entirely separate from the National League System (tiers 5 and below), and there was no automatic promotion/relegation between them until 1987, but even after that promotion could be refused to a National League team if its ground didn’t meet Football League standards - this happened 3 years in a row, 1994-1996, but hasn’t happened since. The 1991/92 season was dramatic, as this was when the clubs in the First Division resigned en-masse to form the Premier League, while in the Fourth Division Aldershot FC had gone bankrupt, and Maidstone United had folded; also the Football League had a failed expansion plan, and it was for that reason that Wrexham weren’t relegated from the Football League that year even though they’d finished bottom of the old Fourth Division - they were just lucky, really. Wrexham finally dropped out of the Football League (the old Fourth Division having been rebranded League Two by then) at the end of the 2007/08 season.
