I've been all over the Caribbean (Bahamas, Cuba, St. Lucia, Barbados, and Jamaica), and I can confirm that Caribbean people are awesome. Every island has their own unique culture, but they all share some of the same traits, and one of those is their super laid back disposition.
What are the “best”/affordable/in your opinion best restaurants or fast food places in each country that you went to in the Caribbean
This is the trait I do not like. That’s why I could never live in my ancestral home of Puerto Rico sadly.
Way too laid back.

@@trinigirl1994 Not really. Nicki didnt even grow up in trinidad shes just trinidadian cuz her family is. She grew up in New York. Who's here after Barbados is becoming a republic tommorow?
Hi Paul B, I loved your video for the most part. This is the first ever video I watched from Geography Now since I love Geography and teach Geography. I also loved the humour. We are actually in the hurricane belt and yes we hardly get hit from our position. They usually come from the Atlantic though. Most of the Caribbean islands are mountainous not flat unless we are speaking about The Bahamas. The thing about the trident points we were never taught. It's pronounced Bay-juhn (Bajan) and Crop Over.
you teach geography?You're like,a teacher?cool.
Yup, if there are volcanoes on the other islands they are mountainous. The only other flat island I know of is Anguilla
🇧🇩👍
That country did became a republic almost last year.
These are really well researched man, I appreciate the effort put in.

Do you guys have a emergency alert system

We aren't really outside of the hurricane zone. Although most hurricanes tend to pass to our north, we have been battered by some pretty monstrous storms over the years. The worst was the Great Hurricane of October 1780 which was believed to have had winds in excess of 200 mph when its eye passed just north of the island. It killed about 4500 people here and many more in the other islands of the region. Another strong hurricane was the one in August of 1831 which was a category 4 and killed over 1500 people (I think). But many other hurricanes have struck Barbados.
i think his point still stands... barbados big hurricanes you listed occurred 240+ and 180+ years ago... barbados is lucky geographically when it comes to hurricanes compared to other islands. just ask haiti....

@@LizNeptune Then there was one in 1831 which destroyed most if not all the Anglican churches. Then again, when I was 10 yrs old ,in 1955 Hurricane Janet wreaked havoc on the island . We are still very much apprehensive during the Hurricane season. Chances are, if a hurricane develops south of Barbados, it is likely to hit the island on its way north.
Barbados will sometimes get hit but most of the Hurricanes/Storms miss or just hit the north part of the island but when they hit they mostly weak and aren't very strong the strong ones that hit Barbados like (irma) are special because the intensify early before the storm hits the island and most storm don't really do that much damage when they hit the damage start when they pass and hit our Caribbean neighbors

@Jermaine Singh its not ruled by the queen, its and independent nation part of the commonwealth with the queen as their head of state though she does next to nothing within the country and has no power just as Canada and Australia.
@Jermaine Singh For one she does not make any decisions for "me" I am not a resident nor have I ever been a resident of Barbados. She simply possesses a title within the commonwealth. You don't seem to be knowledgeable on this topic therefore I have nothing more to say.

this country has declared independence in 1966, and it has been independent since these year. Yesterday they just broken the ties with british monarchy and changed their political regime from a monarchy to a republic but they are already independent of Britain like Canada, Bahamas, New Zaland, Jamaica and Australia which are Royalties with british monarchy but they are independent. However, I think that the exemple of Barbados will be followed by theses others countries in the next years to come.
Barbados is an island country in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies, in the Caribbean region of North America. It is 34 kilometres (21 miles) in length and up to 23 km (14 mi) in width, covering an area of 432 km2 (167 sq mi). It is situated in the western area of the North Atlantic and 100 km (62 mi) east of the Windward Islands and the Caribbean Sea; therein, Barbados is east of the Windwards, part of the Lesser Antilles, roughly at 13°N of the equator. It is about 168 km (104 mi) east of both the countries of Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and 180 km (110 mi) south-east of Martinique and 400 km (250 mi) north-east of Trinidad and Tobago. Barbados is outside the principal Atlantic hurricane belt. Its capital and largest city is Bridgetown.
Fun FACT*** It is also the ONLY non-Volcanic Island in the Carribbiean, For it is made up of Sea-Floor and Coral Limestone. Also it being 100 miles east of all the Islands it gets the blessing of SUN's first light everyday.
