I moved from MS China to MS US in 2007, when I was in grade 5. I met my first two American friends and one of them gave me an beautiful Independence Day hat that I’ve never seen before. We were hanging out together all the time and they taught me English. Soon I left because my free VPN service expired. My name is ChinaPaul but now China is banned from a name in game. I still kept the hat. Hope they can get back online again. I as a kid, used VPN to explore US, Japan, Singapore and Korea servers. Each with unique maps and cultures. It was truly a lifetime traveling experience. Friends I made 15 years ago are still connected with me through their wechat number in China. I lived in that world for my entire childhood while China and the world changed so much. Thank you MapleStory. This bgm is a time machine.

Pretty much every phone and box came pre-installed with VPNs. I remember even in 2006 when the PS3 came out, VPNs were already on computers for you to play on PSN.
My eldest brother dropped a bunch of potions for my 2nd brother to pick up. A thief whizzes past, taking all the potions. I have never seen my brothers rage harder. This song reminds me of that moment.
I dropped all my 3rd anniversary Maple weapons on the ground in Hennesy, at a spot where nobody could reach, and some steelys too. Some dude teleported through the sky and grabbed everything but like 2 things. I was SO SAD.
Lol, my brothers and I only had one PC at home but we had different accounts, so when we wanted to give something to each other, we went into one of Henesys' shops (I think it was the weapon shop) and dropped the items behind a small wooden wall (the shop maps had all kinds of layers and objects where your character and/or items could hide behind), so nobody could see it. We'd log out, and log back in with the other account and pick up the item. We had to be fast enough otherwise the item would just disappear lol.
For real that bass line is so catchy. And idk if you guys have seen it but there's this ad for the Star Trek mobile game on UA-cam and there's one part where the guy on the ad is talking about "and here is the spaceship where you can customize---" I swear the background song of that sounds like this

I used to not really do anything but hang out here. Idk why. I wouldn't even really talk to people nor did I really have a reason to be here. I think I just liked the song and liked watching the people do things. I played Maplestory a fair bit but was always very very low level because I spent all my time watching and enjoying other people. Weird, this song fills me with so much nostalgia its overwhelming.

Oh man, hours upon hours of joining a PQ group and vying with about 3 other groups to get in. Sending a scout to the sewer area to report on how many people were nearby, and insert some fake names and false info to throw them off. Then when the time was right, everyone rushed to the entrance again, and if the stars aligned, we'd get right back into the PQ and get to do it all over again. We'd sometimes get in 4 - 5 times in a row and really piss people off. God those were good times.
Brings back memories when rogues were a pain in the ass to train on the octopus mobs found just outside of Kerning, back when you couldn't use your lucky seven up close and kept auto hitting the mobs whenever they got up close, and considering how squishy asf they were just spamming away on red or white potions just to stay alive lol..times were harder then but really kept the game challenging.
Shoutout to the random level 45 dexless assassin who saw me trying to get to the third sewage pipe and gave me my first ever set of ilbis. Still playing this nightlord today.. only I'm level 205 now with fury's.
I used to look at the Nightwalkers class and really loved their character design of wearing a mask and the hairstyle. I worked quite hard to try and look like that lol and the Night lord standing upside down on the ceiling, I thought I could do that if I job advanced, I was disappointed but it was still good :D
I used to run kpq as a party lead. I would spend hours going through each channel, most channel 1 writing down everyone’s names for tracks. Over time I’d cross off the ones I found to be the most inactive and would end up with a solid list of active ones. Then sometimes you find those tracks to have leveled up and moved on to ludi pq and I’d feel happy for them. Those were the days.
Haven't played MapleStory for like more than a decade. Randomly heard this in the background of someone's UA-cam video and I'm not listening to anything he's saying cuz all I'm thinking is, where the heck have I heard this song lol. Man, good times.

Shit, Thief was the most popular class by far pre-big bang. Cool looking gear, ninja stars at a time when Naruto was still very popular, fast attacks, haste and flash jump before any other class got it. The prices for statted thief armor and weapons were so high because like 40% of everyone were thieves. Rogue job was shit just like anybody >30, if that's what you're talking about.

i remember finding a scroll for glove att 60% from a blue slime at kerning city subway and i sold it for 2k. the same guy that bought it told me i was a noob cause it was worth 6-7Mil. Im 28 years old now and i still remember it to this day ! It made into a maple trader and i stopped hunting and just made money from basil market & free market. i went up to 50Mil before my account got hacked for everything. i still played casually until a little after the big bang update. So many memories and heartbreaks. I will never forget this game

You guys remember OPQ glitch? I had to physically disconnect my router to do it correctly. When it was patched, Level 50+ of certain classes effectively had no way to level consistently. This was before CPQ2.

You guys remember OPQ glitch? I had to physically disconnect my router to do it correctly. When it was patched, Level 50+ of certain classes effectively had no way to level consistently. This was before CPQ2.
