The Celtics started it, LeBron made it famous and KD made it disgusting
Facts
Facts 🎯
Lebron had every right to leave cavs failed to surround him with another superstar only reason he should get hate for it is that press conference he held with Wade and Bosh "not 1 not 2 not 3"
But also keep in mind that "The Decision" raised more than $2 million for the Boys & Girls Club
So looking back at it was it that bad?
@@sac1211yeah that pres conf was just dumb looking back from today...aside from that Lebron is great
That's sounds like some shit a bron fan would say.......I was disgusted when LeBron made that move to Miami.....all because of Celtics? That's stupid to me...the Celtics wasn't the only team he could beat in the East.... Did y'all forget about Orlando?
People forget the 03-04 Lakers. Kobe, Shaq, The Glove, Bozo. The last 2 were certainly not in their prime but were already Hall of famers. 5 HoF on one team....and they got bounced by the Pistons. Superteams have long been a thing.
Exactly and wanna say 2004 Lakers not but superteam 2022 Lakers with 38 year olds, 34 year olds
Stop. You dont believe that .
stop now.
Wilt going to the Lakers ruined the NBA. That inspired Kareem, Earl The Pearl, Moses Malone, Charles Barkeley, Dennis Rodman, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Pau Gasol, Lamarcus Aldridge; and a bounty of other names to leave in Free Agency to teams that'll pay them better or compete better.
There you go.
A fellow basketball historian.
Its hilarious and absurd that people think these "super teams" started with Lebron freakin James. As if 3peat Bulls didnt add Harper or Rodman. Or the lakers and cektics didnt exist in the 80s.
Kareem joined a 30 win team that did jack until magic came along. Most of the players listed were in their like mid 30s when they left, not in their physical prime like KD or Bron when they jumped ship
@@JimBob-jr5up80s lakers and Celtics mostly drafted their stars. Kareem was traded long before the lakers got magic. And Rodman was 34 and seen as a locker room cancer coming off a shoulder injury. Not a comp at all
@@jayanthsambaraju6562 What does age matter?
More broadly speaking, most of the players who "jump ship" do so toward the end of their primes. And theyll still be in those primes or a year removed for 2 or 3 years and get like two titles out of it.
LBJ, in his early/mid prime, won 2 with the Heat.
KD, in his early/mid prime, won 2 with the Warriors.
Regardless of the younger age the end result was the same or worse in some cases.
@@jayanthsambaraju6562 Explain why any of that matters and how its different.
NBA is the ONLY league where a star player is NOT allowed to leave a team no matter how DYSFUNCTIONAL the current team your own.
it’s so stupid

U just supposed to sit there and be miserable. 😂
I mean did Jordan leave or did he get stronger and scare his teammates into getting better? Did Hakeem leave to get his rings? Shaq left the Magic but only cause of money and ego. Everyone stayed with their squads in their prime until him. He also was scared of the dunk contest when the Dr. J’s, MJ’s, Kobe’s all did it before him as well
@@JamesSmith-ov5umnigga said Jordan scared his teammates into being better
I fw the energy sage brings to the ad reads 😂
I swear people always seem to forget what the celtics did when it come around to the "super team" debate, as if they didn't start that shit. They also try to compare bron's move to KD's. Where bron, went to an alright heat team, and brought bosh along with him. Where as, that mf KD joined the greatest team ever assembled already, and just made the league a clown show.
No no no you can't say that. The Celtics made great trades by getting Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen and Kevin Garrett. Those guys got traded over there to Boston, that's different. LeBron quit on Cleveland and build a superteam in Miami. LeBron James started it
@@Kings0424 that literally doesnt change the fact that celtics built a superteam and no, lebron didnt quit on the cavs. The cavs quit on HIM by being a shit organization and not getting that many a single ounce of help… did you SEE the team he dragged to the finals? Both his first finals and 2018.
@@Westbrook__ Again played in a weak ass Eastern Conference bro.
Alright too be honest both of yall wrong, lebron didn't quit on the cavs the east wasn't all that week and lebron 07 team mates was alright at best not bad like people claim it to be but alright at best.
@kobe2kallday Are you serious. The East was definitely weak and he got even weaker when he started the superteam in Miami
1:37 Solz dog looking up after the “BALONEY!!” got me😂😂😂
People are obsessed with Lebron it’s like six degrees of Kevin bacon but with Lebron lol. Lebron never sat out he only left when the contract was up .also he’s won everywhere he went unlike harden .
Also every "superteam" that lebron has been on has a losing record with him sitting out games.
2003-10 cavs- record was 10-16 without him
2010-14 heat record was 9-9
2014-18 cavs record was 4-23
And lastly lakers 2018-21 were 18-31 (this one still needs to be updated though)
@@sac1211maybe because LeBron is the best player on the team??? The teams are built around LeBron specifically so of course they're gonna be worse without him.
@@rolo_swirl1440Memphis had a ridiculously great record with Ja Morant missed a ton of games and GS usually has winning records while Steph is out…unless you don’t consider those two the best players on their teams 🤷🏾♂️

No one said that was a Superteam which is why it's not really an issue that he missed the playoffs.
@@Christopher._M then he said Heat was 9-9 and called it a losing record lol
The thing that made me realise that rings are that matter was when the minute KD won that ring Steven A started calling him the best player in the league.
He said that cause LeBron dissed his show 😂
@@JohnDoe-ld7op That’s actually hilarious if true. But also said. 😂😂
People always conveniently forget about the Celtics when talking about building superteams
And people will say the Celtics are not a superteam because they were old smh 🤦

@@DarrelWashingtonJr9002Facts for real
@@DarrelWashingtonJr9002 "Kobe never ran from them" is an empty argument because the only thing stopping him was his ability to hold his own franchise hostage with his NTC despite requesting a trade. @@DarrelWashingtonJr9002 Kobe threatened to leave if they didn’t build him a good supporting cast
@@BlueGrovyle he is loyal he put in 20 years.... LeBron on the other hand you know is not going to stay with a franchise long term.. no matter the situation... that's not who is....he likes to join other players to help win more championships to catch MJ
Sad part of that move by Lebron was thay he linked up with rival superstars in the same conf. Lebron, wade and bosh teaming up ruined the balance in the east. Imagine if that didnt happen EAST wouldve been hella competitive with celtics, cavs, bulls, pacers, heat, raptors
I said this alot. When LeBron did the decision, in that moment he created the snowball effect of as the gamestop slogan is "Power to the Players" and doing so, threw the loyalty code out the window because with social media and narratives, only 2 things really mattee which is Rings and Finals Record. For example Steph Curry is 4-2 in the Finals. While we can always bring up the 3-1 lead blown, you don't really hear that anymore because hes 4-2 in the finals. If you have a positive record, your loses are kind there but not as many people are going to focus on it verse if your 4-6 in the finals
Sorry but Lebron going to Miami didn't ruined the NBA. Outside of the big 3 miami was nothing but average or out of their prime players.... KD went to a team in their prime and multiple all-stars
That's true nba competition was still high even when he went to the heat. Rivaled the Spurs, Celtics, okc, pacers , all great games and series warriors was a move that shook the nba balance only reason they didn't 3 peat in 2019 is because of injuries
the warriors had 2nd and 3rd best player in the league and dpoy in draymond and top 3 shooter in klay it was broken@@sac1211
@@sac1211what makes it funny is the heat was not even favored to win the 2 years they won the years they were the underdogs they won the years they was favored they lost
@@sac1211 expecting 22 year old PG and 23 year old KD to beat lebron in his prime on a super team is simply unrealistic. the celtics and the spurs were old. the only reason that team isn’t remembered for being that great is because lebron choked in 2011. That was supposed to be the 3peat. revising history 😂

14:49 Sage’s whole take right here is perfect, it’s 100% true
That 2011 convo would have been nasty. BUT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN! RIPBOZO
About the dunking thing, it mostly has to do with ability to veiw them, so with social media everyones super "And when everyone's super...no one will be."
I think the lack of defense being played contributed to the whole”dunks are boring” trend. Cuz they definitely still are amazing to see especially when you see someone who doesn’t normally do it throw one down like kyrie. Shit was a rim grazer an it still was a top dunk last season. But if 6/10 times someone touches the ball it’s either a fast break or a wide open cut it gets repetitive. As for the dunk contest that’s still amazing they can do that but there’s only so many dunks that are humanly possible an not many in the nba got the Kilganon package. So there’s only so many times you can see a windmill before it almost becomes the norm
Sage said 15 years ago like he’s 40 😂😂😂😂
This is such a silly and absurd claim.
Be it LBJ or KD.
People know of the Lakers and Celtics teams of the late 70s to early 90s, right?
Are they aware of the Bulls? Do they know MJ and Pippen added Ron fvckin Harper and Rodman for the second trio?
Or a few of those Spurs teams?
08 Celtics?
Kobe/Shaq Lakers? Kobe/Gasol Lakers?
What about the 06 Miami title? You know, the one where fvckin Zo was back up center to Shaq or hell, sometimes he was at the 4?
This idea that Lebron going to the Heat created something weve never seen or "ruined" anything or that KD to the Warriors did, is a point made by people who think the NBA started with Lebron.
A FRANCHISE player is not the same as a star player. Wade is on a completely different level than Pau or Pippen it's like MJ having Bird and Hakeem as teammates

Looking back players like Tmac and AI should’ve teamed up (in the early 2000s era) I’m not mad at Lebron for doing that … did it change the Nba yep but he had a tougher situation than most superstars as the Cavs couldn’t put him with real legit threats outside of a past his prime Shaq… 🤷🏽♂️
its amazing people TO THIS DAY either feign ignorance or are actually still ignorant on the cp3 to lakers thing. the hornet at the time were owned by the league dealing their superstar to the league's most watched team is the definition of self-dealing. the trade wasnt even remotely fair.
Aye that food was nasty as fuck and y’all can’t lie 😂😂😂
Two things: #1 define Superteam. Some of these teams we consider super teams, pre-Heatles are only considered such based off of hindsight and success. Name more than 2 of these pre-2011 “super teams” where the star players intentionally teamed up via free agency. (I’ll wait). #2 the Celtics big 3 came together through trades, and the ages - KG 31, Allen 32, and Truth 30yo. The Heatles??? LBJ 26, Wade 29, and Bosh 26. Big difference with what Lebron started versus what happened in the past.
Shrump looked fried😂
The cp3 lakers trade was going in to the 2011-2012 season
How come everybody forgets about the 1969 Lakers superteam with Jerry West, Elgin Baylor and Wilt and the 1997 Rockets superteam with Hakeem, Clyde Drexler and Barkley.
Those superteams were before the 08 Celtics and they were a manufactured superteam with players joining to play with each other Wilt forcing a trade from the 76ers and Barkley forcing a trade from the Suns
All past their prime, all front office moves. Did you even watch the video?
@@HighStakesBBall The 1969 Lakers was not a front office move. Wilt forced Philly to trade through trade demands and he wanted to go the Lakers cause Wilt felt he was able to have more access to white woman in LA compared to Philly.
Barkley did the same type of move KD did but possibly even worst. When Barkley was with the Suns, he lost to the Rockets in 2 consecutive playoff years which was the 94 WCSF & the 95 WCSF where Barkley choked a 2-0 lead in the 94 WCSF and choked a 3-1 lead in the 95 WCSF.
After that, Barkley joined the Rockets 2 years later by Barkley demanding the Rockets trade him to PHX with Charles in verbatim saying “I’m excited because I called the shots. When push comes to shove, I think you have to stand up to the system.”
Wilt & Barkley didn’t leave their teams as FA’s but FA was different back then & you couldn’t do the FA process the same way you Lebron did in summer of 2010.
The difference is that 69 Lakers failed as a superteam and were only able to win a chip with just Wilt & Jerry in 72 with no Baylor who was out that whole year with a serious injury.
The 97 Rockets failed bad by not even reaching the Finals. You can’t use they were old argument when the MJ Pippen Rodman Bulls & the Stockton Malone were old too & went consecutive years in the Finals in 97 & 98
"Yall normalize greatness." Yes bro thank you, shit just don't hit the same no more in A LOT of mediums.
The REAL reason KD went to GS is because GS beat them after being down 3-1 and then GS went on to lose the finals to lebron after being up 3-1. KD was terrified of GS, but even more so terrified of Lebron, so he joined the enemy of his enemy 🤣.
The trade that was gonna bring CP3 to the Lakers Pau Gasol was apart of the trade Sage it would have been CP3 Kobe and Bynum but no Pau
If I’m not mistaken the Bynum Howard trade was basically done already

The Celtics absolutely pulled off the first super team.
Was it because KG/Ray/Paul Pierce were older is why it’s not viewed as super OP? Possibly.
But they pulled off the first super team.
The Heat was the first super team to unite 3 players in their prime.
KD joining the Warriors was the first super team built where the joining player was in his prime, he was leading an already competitive team, and the team he was joining was already a super team and had eliminated him months prior.
There’s no way you can criticize Bron, but then make excuses for the Celtics and Warriors, when Bron had the most understandable circumstances.
Bounce bros is crazy
People be acting like Lebron’s Miami heat was the first super team ever bro 😂
Players trying to get paid more??? And play for good teams??? The game is ruined!
Finally someone talks about how casual nba fandom is dying. That’s where things like the dunk contest, highlight reels, or even fun teams that aren’t contenders shine. Like i grew up loving the Lob City clippers as a lakers fan just because they were fun to watch. Now when I try to say “hey this kings team is crazy fun to watch” niggas wanna talk playoff matchups and ideal trades instead of just enjoying the game
Yall better make a video on the Hawks vs Bucks, that was terrible for Damian.
i will NOT tolerate Clint Capela Slander
The Heat were a subpar team when Bron and Bosh joined. Whole new team in 2011. The Warriors meanwhile were a fucking 73-9 team, and people are out here comparing the two moves???
Shump a W but this might be one of the worst takes because he saying "KD yeah sit in this small market and loose because you not beating no miami" which is exactly what happened to Bron. Not mention the fact KD lost to a very beatable team that he blew a lead to not a "super team"
The refs rigged for GS vs Cavs again they didn't call nothing on Nutcracker Green
Wilt chamberlain started superteams
Kobe has a super underrated run from 08-10 had the best the 3 playoffs ever
there is someone who can grab the top of the backboard, dont know if its was high school or a college court but he got up there and it was on worldstar if thats still a thing
Celtics aquiring a ton of talents is what teams are supposed to do. Bron showed superstar talents you can control your career
The only problem I have with this argument is that no one ever takes the teams shitty job to build a team around these players and iguadala said it best, these teams are run so shitty that good to great talented players get tired of loosing, cuz the teams main goal is ticket selling
if we keepin it a whole stack moses malone started it. he literally went to a team that was jus in the finals while he was in his prime winning mvps

Yea he would have.
The thing with curry and kd tho is curry still pulls his weight massively and other teams win chips with multiple good players but if another superstar joins golden sate it’s a problem I feel like
And it’s not like curry wast chip worthy
People leave out the fact lebrons move was reactionary because his team FAILED to build around him compared to other stars. Instead of stayin he left for a team that would (that team didn’t have a good record prior to his arrival) (he wasn’t the only star to go to said team) Bron left and did the thing y’all have been begging DAME TO DO FOR YEARS NOW!
Matters like sage said because LeBron was him, when youre him you get to go where ever you feel like, and when youre at the top everything you do is so much louder cause all eyes are already on you.
Kd’s was just gross though. The going to a team that was already dominant and beat you. Just a trash move.
And kd lost a 3-1 lead to the warriors kdisney fr 💀💀💀
Ok but nobody speaks on the Celtics being the first big three 🤔
A question: Do you think the reason people aren't impressed by what they're seeing is because they aren't playing the sport?
What I mean is, is there less understanding of the effort to pull these moves off that they do in the league because their interaction is more to do with watching the sport than engaging with it?
So y’all gone act like Celtics didn’t have prime Rondo too ??
Hahaha prime rondo 😂😂
Lebron has 4 rings, you can argue that he should have 6. People don't like the KD move because it was a better version of what Lebron did with the heat.
14:15 facts 😂😂😂
Wtf is the camera so close
1:16 Kobe couldn't do what without what?
Kds is the worst. He needed a stacked team to get all the rings
it isnt normalizing greatness to just accept the ceiling is much higher now using that exact same logic why are yall so against cousey and stockton? wouldnt downplaying them be normalizing greatness?
The Celtics teamed up to whip kobe and tim Duncan. The heat teamed up to whip the Celtics.
Stop please y’all don’t even know how the Celtics team came together. Dude said Paul pierce was traded to the Celtics.
As a matter of fact Lebron is directly responsible for the 2016 Warriors. Lebron was the VP of the NBPA and he and the organization rejected the salary smoothing in 2015 which meant the salary cap had a huge increase the filling year, that increase was the only reason the warriors could afford to sign KD 😂😂. So either way you gotta blame Lebron 🤷🏾♂️💯

Chris Bosh and Ray Allen saved LeBron by scoring 0 points in game 7
Honestly dunk contest might as well b done by the ppl that does nun but dunks n I’m not talking about NBA players
There would have been less of an argument for kobe as the goat if cp3 played with him
Question tho so if Kd didn’t start it but bron did don’t that mean KG and ray Allen really started it when they joined to beat Lebron? Or is this just for bron hate so we don’t hold anybody else accountable
No lie though, the worst fans in any sport is MMA.
We acting dense about the cp3 trade? It was vetoed because he was trying to sell the team and the team losing their only good player for Bums woulda dropped the Value significantly
Day 4 of suggesting 2016 Finals drinking game
Here's the word for y'all "Lebron popularized teaming up with superstars" he made it famous to team up.
So let’s be honest, if Lebron stayed in Cleveland what free agent would of signed with them? Players already exposed their views on playing for Cleveland and staying in the city.
Basketball is about competing! Real players play to compete
