    Pasta is really low on the nutrition scale but probably one of most affordable prepper foods you can get. I always keep some on hand as it is a comfort food for us. We just try to limit intake. Few times when we've been snowed in it was nice to make big pot of soup with pasta added.
    GLASS JARS YES!!!!
    not only a healthier option but a reusable option. I save my jars and use for leftovers, seed storage, dry herb storage,etc
    With winter coming it's time to assess pantry levels.
    Great video!

    A good way to diversify your food for sure! Yes I agree with the mix between healthy and long lasting as well. Useful to see the seasoning as well.

    I do the same, I buy garbage food that is not healthy but have to have it just in case somethimg happens. Later, when the food is about a week to expire, i donate the food to my church food drive.

    • @holisticheritagehomestead
      @holisticheritagehomestead  2 місяці тому

      I think that is smart. It’s better to have some garbage food, than no food. In general, I lean towards healthier options for the most part. I do not believe people should stockpile only junk food. I believe people should have more healthy food, than junk food. I think that’s really awesome that you donate food to your church’s food drive. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!

      That’s a great idea. I’ve been thinking about some water storage content. I will definitely put out some videos about water. Thank you!

      That’s great! Wish we had a moose for our freezer. Food is so expensive nowadays. Most of these items were cheaper options. Thank you!

      We really like pasta too. It’s not healthy, but for many people, it’s fine to have in small quantities on occasion. Thank you so much!

    Store your pasta, rice and beans in glass jars

    • @holisticheritagehomestead
      @holisticheritagehomestead  2 місяці тому

      That is a great idea. However, the rice, beans, and pasta we leave in the containers that we buy them in, because we will eat them before they go bad. Any excess future storage, we will transfer to 5 gallon buckets with mylar, and maybe some glass jars. Thank you for watching and commenting!

    Reg ground beef been eating it for yrs u will be ok

    • @holisticheritagehomestead
      @holisticheritagehomestead  2 місяці тому

      Maybe. I think for the most part regular ground beef is OK, but it’s not ideal. That’s the same type of thinking for someone to say that they’ve smoked for 40 years and they are fine. If they are fine, they would be better if they did not. Cows eating pasture that has been sprayed with horrible toxins, is bad. Beef that does not have good omega ratios, and is lower in CLA than grassfed and organic beef, is inferior to grassfed and organic beef. It is still better than other foods, but grassfed and organic is better. Thank you for watching and commenting!

    Free range in commercial store buying whole chickens. Is a small open window to the huge chickens tunnel that’s all. It’s not actually “free range “ meaning they let 1500-2000 k chickens run around actually free.

    • @holisticheritagehomestead
      @holisticheritagehomestead  2 місяці тому

      I am aware that the descriptions aren’t quite what the reality is. That being said, I assume these are better than the ones that aren’t “free range.” Ideal are free range chickens raised at home. Second to that is locally raised chickens that are free range. Thank you so much!

    I transfer the honey we buy into glass jars. Don't want it in plastic.

    • @holisticheritagehomestead
      @holisticheritagehomestead  2 місяці тому

      Smart! Great idea. Maybe I will do that. I hope we can get most of the honey out without heating up the plastic because I do not want to heat the plastic up in order to get the honey to move more easily. Thank you for watching and commenting!
