I love the way you start out this video - what you learned from your own pantry experiences, and the fact that you made mistakes along with the wins. The FB statement about looking at your neighbor's bowl is so right. ❤ I was better stocked on the 'open and eat' supplies when my girls were still at home. Thanks for the reminder that I still need to prioritize that category. I sure hope my garden does well this year so I can try dehydrating and canning some things. I've never done either, and don't have a dehydrator, but I figure the oven might work for peppers. You are so right about those funky stale dates from 2020! I feel in a state of flux and conflicted about stockpiling at this stage because of wanting to move to KC next year. But meanwhile prices seem to go up weekly. ugh. LOL on 'two words for Cory - "hot sauce" 🤣 You win the most variety in the spice preps category, hands-down!!! You have spices and powdered flavors I've never heard of.
Thank you Shari so much for your kind words. I don't use my dehydrator as much as I would like to but I love making fruit leather and beef jerky. You are so right about prices going up like crazy. We are almost at the mercy of whatever is on sale when meal planning. It's ridiculous.
Living in Arizona, I find comfort in our outdoor kiva (fireplace) and island grill and bar. If the power goes out we can use either one of those to heat our food.
The beginning of your video was so perfect. I struggle with the BB dates, I know they're ok for longer than that, but I still get caught up on the dates. shredded squid? what on earth. ha ha ha LOVE me some Arby's sauce!!
Sorry for the delay in responding. I don't always get notifications when people comment. My husband eats some crazy things like shredded squid and worse. Lol
Outdoor girl here, not sure why it’s saying otherwise but anyways that my lack of computer knowledge...lol Thank you Kelli for the tour, I also started taking out one item and replacing it with a healthier choice, I’m going to watch your spice tour next, I noticed on next level chef there spices where labeled like the periodic table which looks so cute, I picked up a couple flats of jam jars and put all my spices into those jars alphabetically and labeled them as well, the packets or Bulk are cheaper to buy here , some of the small jars run over 8$ a piece 👀 I watch for sales and dump them into my jars. I started using Classico spaghetti sauce and I save the jars which are also like a canning jar and started filling them with all my dried goods to keep the bugs out. My pantry shelves are organized by all cans in one area, all the boxes together all the jars together and all the pouches of foods together. I just find I have more storage space because all the pieces Aline up. The biggest thing I enjoy is making a list of meals or a home menu for breakfast lunch and dinner with the items I keep in my pantry and then I have ideas to pick from for dinners ect, I write them down as I hit a delicious meal for menu. I tried gathering 31 or each so I had a choice of 31 breakfast ideas 31 lunch ideas and 31 dinner ideas, and 3-desserts. It would be fun to see a video of what item you would like to subtract from your pantry one-at a time you want to replace with your homemade healthier version😁 Love you and god bless ♥️
Hi Outdoor Girl! Your pantry sounds very organized. I hope I can get to that point one day. It's awesome to repurpose jars too. I admit I haven't been great about that. You had a great idea to show what junk food I replace with healthier stuff. Maybe that can be my theme in 2025. It will be here in no time. I can't believe it's already almost March! Hope you are doing well, my friend. 🥰
Luv your videos, especially the pantry videos. I starred canning not to long ago,I started out with a book case like you,I think sometimes,it almost becomes an addiction, and you have to tell yourself ..do I really need that, just bcuz it's clearance I have OCD as well. I wish there was a way we could share our pantries (pictures) with each other, Mines not huge but just so people can see different ideas. Thank you so much for sharing with us 😊😊
I would love to see pics of your pantry. If you want to email me at kellidianek@yahoo.com or I'm on Facebook at Kelli Cumbie Hoffman if you want to message me there.🥰
Do you have a PKU’r too? What do you store for yours? We are storing freeze dried veggies and potatoes for our son. Of course any veggies I can too. I buy him canned jackfruit, mushrooms, some cereal and rice milk. I worry I don’t have enough to sustain him. What else do you store for your protein free family member?
@@blendedwithmadonnadevlin6520 My daughter has Citrullinemia which is one of the more rare urea cycle disorders. OTC is the more common one. What we store vs what she eats are 2 different things. She is super picky. She will occasionally eat green bean casserole so I store the ingredients for that. She will also occasionally eat baked beans or butter/lima beans. My other daughter is a vegetarian by choice and she likes tofu so I have that shelf stable tofu and bags of soy textured protein crumbles. She also likes the Amy's vegetarian chili and Indian sauces like tiki marsala and butter chicken sauce that we put over tofu or paneer cheese. It's just tricky because I am learning that certain products don't last as long as others and for maximum shelf life they made need to be repackaged so they don't get bugs in them (rice, pasta) and we need to be careful with mashed potato flakes if they already have milk or butter flakes in them the oil will go rancid faster. Canned goods and freeze dried foods seem to provide the longest shelf life.❤️
Hey, thx for the vid. I have a question, do you use your pantry for all the winter, and then you do not do anymore groceries for the winter, or do you store but just use it times by times ?
@@gentaina.universe Hello. I use my pantry year round and we just go to the store for fresh items like vegetables or milk. We try to look for sales too like buy one get one free and just put away extra cans of meat, potatoes, beans or vegetables as we can.😊
About 2 cases of drinking water but we also have some cases of flavored sparkling water as well as about 50 2 gallon jugs of tap water to run through our Berkey if we needed to drink it.🥰
We have no idea when the end times are here as the Bible doesn’t tell us..we are going through some things but it could be 100’s of years from now when Jesus returns.
@@Livingforgiven -I agree. Im of prepared mind for over 20 years. Always interested in learning a new to me skill to add another level of preparedness.
