    I think that this isn't an earlier iteration of the Nightsisters it's just another philosophy of the force. I did love when horned mommy called the Jedi "deranged monks" because that coven gives off major cult vibes too.

    It’s hypocritical for the Jedi to be against the Witches raising their own children in the force but the Jedi are ok with taking them away to the Jedi Temple. Without newer generations continuing their legacy the Witches will eventually lose their culture. 😢 Whatever portions of the dark side the Witches utilize it’s clear they have love for each other and aren’t currently conquering any one else. Seeing Mother Koril carried the twins made me think of Mother Aniseya as Mystique briefly becoming male with Destiny. 😁I’m enjoying the series and the introspection of all the different doctrines. 🌟

    I don't think they are the Night Sisters, I think we are led to believe that so we support the Jedi, but that it's really about the Jedi viewing any force users who aren't Jedi as evil. I think what ends up shaking the faith of the four Jedi is that they realized they targeted the coven just because they were different and their prejudice led, however indirectly, to their destruction.

      @NathanWeeks I think that whoever that is in the mask is the person that killed the witches and then took Mae under his/her wing. I've read on one channel that someone thinks the guy Mae is running around with is the guy in the mask. We'll see about that. The design of that mask though does remind me of Abeloth/The Bringer of Chaos.

      Yeah I'm guessing it's a someone on either side jumped the gun, possibly Torbin, since he felt the guiltiest. Everyone started defending themselves and the Jedi "won" because they are better trained in battle.

      The Force got angry with they/them (the witches) for misgendering it and corrected their Darkful misguided ways. And since The Force is everywhere surrounding everything, it just had to retract respirable air from around the witches and BOOM! Down they fell.
      Hence no apparent reason for their deaths.

    Rashomon was an inspiration here - so we should expect to see that flashback multiple times from different perspectives and for us to have our feelings change about the situation as we get the perspective of the other characters.

    I feel like I'm crazy. It's not as good as Andor, and sure, fire in space + bad old age makeup... but it's not THAT bad. The internet is acting like this is Rise or Secret Invasion. I just don't see it. And I can be pretty critical, like with Ahsoka relying too much on past content, AND feeling like it was all setup with no payoff. Like everything has to be Empire now. But I just don't get the absolute hatred here. 🤨

    I agree the dialogue is weaker than other Star wars shows. The weird changing and dancing of the witches felt poorly written and choreographed.
    I disagree that this episode is changing things like the force or the Jedi. The concept of Jedi taking children has been in the various shows like clone wars, for years now and also in the prequels.
    So many reviews are claiming that this show is breaking star wars because they are changing the force and the Jedi. People are mad that the witches called the force a thread but the mother Superior witch described the thread almost the same way that Yoda and Obi-wan have described the Force. The concept of force users wielding the force outside of the Jedi and even calling the force by another name, has been around in the comics, books, games etc since at least the 80's. I played the tabletop star wars RPG in the 90's and there was literally a primitive Force User class that had nothing to do with the Jedi. It had a very shaman/witch feel to it.
    I'm not sure what happened with the Jedi. It's possible that Mae did something with the plasma oil light sources that caused a massive fire. Like maybe instead of just blowing up the one outside Osha's room, she blew up several nearby ones as well.
    I didn't see any lightsaber burns on the witch bodies so if the Jedi killed them I'm not sure how. I would think the witches were powerful enough not to show themselves to get Force killed since they literally trained against that.
    I'm going to put forth a theory that the two mother's got into a huge THREAD/FORCE fight over their different opinions on whether to let Osha go. I think in that fight the reactor was damaged by a massive force wave of energy created by the mothers during their flight. Maybe the Jedi showed up during the fight because Sol senses Osha's fear. At that point things devolved into a general force fight between all of them. One of the witches had their leg weirdly bent backwards and the way they were all huddled close together, with the debris, makes me think that they all died in a fall when the floor beneath them gave way. Whatever happened, King Tommen got his eye injury during the incident. If you notice at the end where Osha wakes up, he has a scar across his eye. I'm one of the trailers it showed the Wookie Jedi launching attacking the Tommen Padawan in the Witch's fortress. So maybe some/all of the Jedi got possessed similar to how the Padawan was possessed, and they were forced to fight each other. Guess we'll have to wait to see more flash backs.
    Great review btw. You were one of the few reviews that wasn't incredibly negative saying how this episode destroyed star wars. Lol

    • @VampX13
      @VampX13  29 днів тому

      Maybe the Jedi were also split on how to best deal with the situation and they got in a fight too! Either way, I really like your theory and thank you for the well thought out response here. I appreciate you taking the time to engage and comment. :)
      It feels like we have quite a mystery on our hands and I can't wait to get more perspective on this catastrophic event as we probably slowly piece together what really happened here.
      Also, I agree. I'm not sure why people are saying this show breaks all of Star Wars. This also takes place during a time we haven't explored a lot in live action, I don't believe. So there is a lot of opportunity for us to flesh out the lore and introduce new ideas and concepts to the world while expanding on stuff that is pre-established. And I feel like they are doing a really good job of that here. The world-building aspect is on point for me.
      It's interesting with Star Wars. I feel like there are some fans who basically just want to watch the same story on repeat. Which is interesting when that is what they want from new stories - because, like, you could just go back and watch the or read or playthrough those stories. They all still exist. lol
      I personally am glad we are exploring a new (very old) time period in Star Wars history. This series is making me want to check out the High Republic comics too. When I read the Star Wars comic book event, Dark Droids, and when I checked out the Star Wars: Yoda limited series, I got so many ads in my comics for the High Republic stuff. I think I might have to go check it out after this. I'm curious. :)
      Appreciate the kind words and the comment.

    I find this episody pretty interesting, you can see another interpretation of The Force, as valid as any other (like religion in our world: judism... muslim... christianist... different ways to pray the same god), pretty interesting to see what happened from the point of view of a child (I'm pretty sure we will see the same but from the point a view of an adult in a later episode).
    The problem is that the witches concern the Jedi because they are afraid of the menace of a dark cult (and well... they have a lot of experfience about that, their fears are valid) but is true too that that was not a republic planet, at least they only concerned about children, not adults.
    As in real life, the problen surges when a group think that THEIR way is the "true" way, the ONLY way, conflict starts when clash with other ideology, despite having the same goal.

    • @VampX13
      @VampX13  28 днів тому +1

      So interesting. And so true. It's when both of these groups are not willing to bend, that we see a break happen likely. Although there is still a lot missing in terms of perspectives from what happened with this incident, so I'm sure there will be some more context given here, like you said. I do really like your observation though about how neither group is good or bad, but maybe a bit too committed to their way being the ONLY way. Unwilling to see someone else's perspective. Honestly I feel like perspective is the big theme here in regards to what The Acolyte is really exploring, is really about.

    The script and editing are so rough on this project it feels like a first draft. Story overall is very interesting but there is so much missing cinematic language that it comes across as very fan-filmy and amateur. Sucks cause I was actually stoked on this project but its lost me now.

    One odd thing this episode made me think about is what should the Republic and the Jedi do about force-sensitive groups in the Galaxy. Because the Force is dangerous. Having someone around to make sure there isn't a new Sith cult being made somewhere is probably important. But how do you do that without coming across like a power-mad group of tyrants? It's like "Okay, this stuff is powerful. People can even use this power to eat planets sometimes. So, we need to watch it." But how do you do that without becoming a bunch of bullies that just fly across the Galaxy telling other cultures what they can and can't do with the Force?
    I guess they could build droids that fly across the Galaxy detecting m counts. "M presence detected." Then those droids could mark the M people with an M and keep them separate from everyone and... oh wait this is something else never mind.
    Also, if you're interested in the Nighsisters they made their debut in the book Courtship of Princess Leia back in the 90's which also had a lot of other witches who weren't Darkside or evil. Really this group doesn't feel like the Nightsisters. Maybe kind of the Singing Moutain Clan. Which is another group that shows up from time to time. Of course, that's all Legends but it is where they started. For new canon there is an Asajj Ventress book called Dark Disciple that goes a bit more into the Nightsisters that is very good as long as you haven't made the mistake of reading the Republic comics since it kind of butchers and abridges some of the characters from those stories(RIP Aayla Secura)

    This ruined the uniqueness of Anakin because it is very similar. Yes, there are differences, but in both cases, the key points are the Force and not having a father.
    Anakin was unique because he was the chosen one. It was even supposed to be visible uniqueness. Now it no longer matters.
    And it definitely destroyed the logic of the Sith. A group of witches possesses knowledge of creating life before the Sith.
    So the Sith didn't discover this knowledge? Didn't sense it? How?
    Ok, I understand that a few generations might have missed it, but here we are talking about a line that spans millennia, with each succeeding Sith becoming stronger and more fascinated by such topics.
    Plus if random witches discovered this secret and can use this Power, why not others groups?
    This is an obvious disturbance in the Force and should immediately attract the attention of a Sith.
    Let's assume for a moment that this is not normalized and that, for some reason, this is an exception.
    Explaining how Plagueis or Witches created life in any way also takes away cool mystery.
    The fact that someone else possessed that knowledge diminishes the Sith and importance of that discovery.
    But at least it would make sense if it immediately attracted Sith attention.
    Furthermore, according to this logic, Darth Plagueis shouldn't be the first to discover this knowledge and create life with the Force if it has been so normalized. This secret should have been discovered much earlier, and Darth Plagueis and Palpatine should have gone even further.
    In this case, the Sith are made to look like literal idiots because they wanted to discover something that was already known by a group of random witches.
    This is the biggest flaw and that, in my opinion, makes no sense.

    • @VampX13
      @VampX13  28 днів тому

      I think we need more time to figure out what is really going on here. A lot of folks are making assumptions about where this is going - or rather where they really don't want it go - based on their own thoughts and fears. Let us remember that fear & hate is the way of the dark side. I think I need to watch more of The Acolyte before I make a judgement on if this ruins the Sith. I want to give it a bit more time before I condemn or praise the series because there is still so much that is unknown here.
      Also I believe it was the first sith Ajunta Pall who discovered how to create life initially and that is also I believe the catalyst of how he became a Sith. Darth Plagueis later relearned how to create life. :)

      @@VampX13 What the Acolyte is doing is very risky and it is better that series somehow recover from the problems it caused to itself.
      By suggesting this option, the series has done a lot of harm to itself, and stil it may be true.
      Edit What is definitely certain now is that Anakin's uniqueness has been ruined. Unless someone was lying.

    😊 hello there. Sorry long one. from my understanding the original Star Wars when George Lucas wrote it, he used inspiration from Frank Herbert to Dune, which he white. So he borrowed little bits here a little bit there to create the first movie. I know you’re familiar with Dune and you know how heavy that is themed with Eon and Mystic powers and all that fun stuff. Now go back to George Lucas, and he hast to not create a mythology to a set of movies that he may not have originally planned on doing. Then you get rabid fans who want more so books are written novels are written comic books are written. Things start to get out of hand and now you just kinda have to do the best you can. For me as a toxic fan of all genres I know the same thing happens to comic books and you might understand this pretty well how many times have they redone storylines reinvented Superhero origins and all that stuff and in the end they had to Redcon a bunch of crap because things just got out of control. That’s kind of how I see Star Wars things are just all over the place. Problem is much like in comic books. There’s a section that is rabid and toxic and are not willing to flinch and that is always the part that makes me sad😢

    The saddest thing about this era of Star Wars stories (even going all the way back to the prequal days of Star Wars), is that every main faction is bad. The Sith are evil. The Jedi are evil. The Witches are evil…Even the rebels are depicted as incompetent, corrupt, and rapidly becoming the villains (especially in things like Asoka, and the Mando). It just fills like War Hammer. Everyone is just bad, and it sucks to not be able to root for anyone…at least since episodes 4, 5, & 6. And even by the end of 6, luke was set up in a way that he understands that going forward means he and the next generation of Jedi need to be a balance of both Light & Dark side, which just got abandoned with all the new movies and shows.

    This episode was strange.
    The writing is still lacking, Master Sol still carries the show, and I still do not like the "Evil Twin" trope.
    I think they intended for us to empathize with the Witches against the Jedi, but I wasn't feeling it. I thought the Jedi were 100% okay and reasonable, and the witches felt very evil to me, and much more cult-like.
    I think the Witches are related to the Night Sisters of Dathomir, but not a part of them. I think some of the Dathomiri were maybe split to factions while moving to our galaxy, just a feeling, maybe I'm making this connection just because of the Zabrak.
    Overall, this show has sadly not improve in my eyes yet, and still is not for me, which sucks because I really wanted it to be, but hey, stilll got hope for an Mortis Gods/Abeloth-related lore drop.

      Completely fair in your feels here. I personally did side with the cult and did at least connect on that level with this episode. But I agree that Lee Jung-jae as Master Sol is doing some heavy lifting here. Although I did also like the actress that played the Mother Aniseya, Jodie Turner-Smith. I found her performance to be captivating as well as the conflict between her and her fellow partner, Mother Koril.
      I'm not sure though if we are supposed to side with the cult or if we are simply supposed to feel conflicted here. Something that I think is troublesome with this show is I'm not really sure at times what I'm supposed to be feeling as a viewer. That's either intentional or a blunder. I'm not sure which. I honestly can't wait till we have the whole package, the whole season, and I can really pick this apart. I'm very intrigued by this somewhat odd show. lol

    Agree, amazing story, subpar dialogue. I'm getting prequel flashbacks.

    I appreciate your generosity with this show. The way the force is changed, the fact that the Skywalkers aren't nearly as important to canon because of the story, and you are willing to see it through. It's impressive

    I don’t think these witches are Night Sisters, I think they are a separate cult of Witches. And these witches definitely aren’t good guys, they clearly use dark force magic, it’s even implied they did the biggest crime to the living force in creating life.
    I didn’t think this episode was bad but I also didn’t think it was super exciting, and I think there is more to the story, I don’t see how the Jedi could feel sooo guilty based off of what we saw in this episode. But overall pretty good episode given us some backstory

    • @VampX13

      Fair enough. lol Some of the dialogue was pretty cringe, I agree. I want to watch an episode muted and just read the dialogue on screen aloud without context of anything else. I just want to see these words purely on page so I can determine if the script is really as bad as it feels for me in terms of the dialogue.

    Just hearing you calling this coven the nightsisters lets me know you don’t know anything about star wars and calling them notoriously the bad guys in a lot of Star Wars is crazy. How did my algorithm get me on the side of the fandom that’s ruining the franchise I’ve loved for 34 years?

    • @VampX13
      @VampX13  29 днів тому

      This is 4000 years before the Nightsisters existed though. So this could have been an early iteration of them. Their origins I know is very mysterious in the franchise. No? Although as I said in the video, I'm not super familiar with ALL their lore. I do know they are usually from Dathomir and based there but not all Nightsisters are Dathomirian, I believe. Also - are the Nightsisters usually the good guys? I haven't seen that but like I said, I don't know all the lore. So I'm always open to learning something new there. Anyways, thanks for the engagement. :)

      @@VampX13 no it’s not 4000 years before the Nightsisters existed, this show takes place 100 years before the phantom menace. If you’re gonna make content, make sure you know you’re talking about, on top of that the second half of your response to me was something you searched on Wikipedia. You represent exactly what the problem is, somebody who doesn’t know the franchise, but you engage with it because of the resurgence in popularity the last decade & you support this woke pride, positive Disney bullshit. People like you and your side of the fandom have ruined. The franchise that I have loved all my life and I have a special place for. Do me a favor and go ruin a different franchise…

    I think the weaker script is partially due to the lack of familiarity. Fans know Obi-Wan and Anikan and there was a lot to call back to. We could connect. I do think that they could go forward and see a new group emerge. Not Jedi or Sith but just force users.

    I'm happy that the studio is exploring the other side. I enjoy making the audience change their beliefs about who is good or bad, and then having that suddenly change. I'm excited to see where this story goes. It's disappointing that the coven was basically wiped out, and it's probably the Jedi's fault. The night sisters or anyone who wields magic is much more interesting. 😊✨

      That was my understanding. Thought it was pretty clear. People are complaining about things that we're not even sure of yet, as if the creators themselves didn't compare this to Rashomon. It's not as good as Andor, and I suppose they could blow it like Secret Invasion or end in an unsatisfying cliffhanger like Ahsoka, but I mean... let's see what happens first maybe? 🤷‍♂
