Backpacking in North Cascades (Lake Ann) | Snow Camping in July 2022 | Washington

The delayed snow melt has put a wrench in some of our overnight hiking trips this summer. On July 8, 2022 - we decided roll with it and hike to Lake Ann, spending a night in the mountains within the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. I car camped at the trail head and the next day, my mom and I were in complete solitude. No people, only the crunching snow and sound of glacier water melting.
Washington is truly a magical place. I plan to explore more of Mount Baker and the North Cascades National park. I left my dog behind this trip as it was the first overnight of the season. But, the trail IS dog friendly!

Seems like a lot of snow for July. I wonder if this was an unusually snowy year? Also the "bear food bag" looked like it was only two feet off the ground. I thought the idea was to hang it high enough to be out of reach of bears.

I’m guessing from the music you use, you would be a fan. to then state another obvious, Haley Bonar, Canadian born, but now lives somewhere in the Dakotas, I think. Lastly, Laura Gibson. She’s from Oregon, but I’m willing to wager “Goners” is an album you would enjoy.
