This is a different developer, both under the Slitherine publishing umbrella. Broken Arrow will easily be their biggest game this year, doubt they’ll forget about it!
Just tried this. I'd love to see a good 3D Close Combat (wasn't a fan of The Bloody First), but the pace of Platoon Commander was too slow and the controls were very unintuitive. Glad I could give feedback during the alpha.
Are the squad comps, in terms of weapons, random or is it more reflective of having a standardized composition with squad DMR, squad rifles, squad support etc? Also, the Battlefield game you're thinking of is Battlefield Heroes. Don't look up its anthem unless you're ready to have an earworm for a few days. Already, I can hear it in the back of my mind.
In the current build it appears they always have the same composition. Not sure about the full game, as it has a lengthy campaign. Battlefield Heroes! That’s exactly it. I will have to go listen haha
Yes, I think my initial impression was a bit off thinking it should play faster, but really it’s much closer to Close Combat, where the units do move at a realistic pace
This is a Real Time Tactic game, not Real Time Strategic game. No long term aspect to this, not covering the overall war, no base building, just a focus on single battles. That makes this a tactical game, not a strategic game.
oh my gosh! it looks like a modern Close Combat, a series that I adored as a kid. thanks for putting this one on my radar
Yeah! I grew up playing Close Combat in computer lab, it put me on the wargaming path!
Close combat looks better.
"Battlefield Heroes" was what you were trying to reference for the art style.
That’s the one! I had to look it up afterwards.
looks like if Bolt Action was a video game instead of a table top game
Man, I hope they didn't forget about broken arrow

That was some of the feedback I gave as well. Lots of little things they could do to improve the controls.
its 2025 updated relalictic graphics are a must
I think there is room for many styles. But of course we each have our own taste!

Hope they change the unit models, because I seen them a tremendous amount of times in anything remotely WW2 themed. Rest looks great!
Whats with the campy art direction from pixelation to tele tubby modeling peeps seem to be enjoying so much?
Variety is the spice of life and all that
It's not slow, it's realistc. I can't stand games like Warno etc, that move at a silly speed.

After playing the demo I was underwhelmed TBH.
Definitely some work to be done. But I think there is potential for something like a modern Close Combat.

You are correct on the primary gameplay, there is a campaign layer to it, linking all of the missions together.
Is this built on the same old engine that plagues the Combat Mission series?
No, I don’t think it’s connected at all. Different developer, different mechanics, totally different style.
Combat Mission is so much better.
@@adhabens Its janky as fuck and won't be updated by the grognards at all.
Bloody awful in its current state. Needs a ton more work on it.
Be sure to send them your feedback on how it could be improved!
