LIVING IN ISTANBUL FOR 40 DAYS | ISTANBUL HIGHLIGHTS

Our previous Istanbul content focuses on some of our single day adventures, but this video is meant to highlight our favorite moments of our 40 day stay!
Istanbul, Türkiye was not even on our radar when we started this worldwide traveling journey. We have enjoyed having very little commitment to where we venture next. Originally, we were eyeing Portugal; however, after researching what the city of Istanbul had to offer, we decided to take a chance on calling it home for the next 40 days.
We couldn’t have been happier with the outcome! We fell in love with our neighborhood, Balat, and loved that the entire city of Istanbul seemed to always have something fun going on. Each area of the city, on both the European and Asian side, is different from the next. There were parts of the city that felt completely unique, as well as areas that reminded us of places we've visited before.
The kindness of Turkish people was astounding! Neither of us have been anywhere in the world where the goodwill of people was so noticeable. It was refreshing to be greeted with hellos every day as we walk down the street to the bus stop and constantly see smiles on everyone’s faces.
One thing we never expected is that our apartment in Balat, Istanbul would feel so much like home. As the weeks went by and we made connections with the people in our neighborhood, we started to realize how comfortable we felt, which is hard to find when hopping around from country to country.
Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with the city of Istanbul. The food scene, city events, parks, people and architecture were all impressive. We definitely plan to explore more of Turkey in the future, and will make sure to stop by Istanbul again!
