Hey Kevin, your questions are gold. I actually used your questions and I was blown away with the "out of expectation question". Like what you said, my client said something that even I didn't expect.
Heading into a new testimonial shoot for a construction biz doing my research and collecting my thoughts - and you my friend have earned a sub! You spoke clearly and plainly and I have a bunch of takeaways I’m going to use. Bravo - keep it up my friend! My notes, combining your ideas with my current practice and understaing: ① What is this testimonial going to accomplish? It’s going to REDUCE RISK to the potential customer by providing social proof. They won’t be left wondering ‘is this going to work?’ ② Roll into the interview to where they almost don’t even know ‘we’ve begun the video’. Small-talk and find a natural-in to the story of working with my client. Communicate with my camera operator that a tap from him on my shoulder means ‘we’re rolling’ now and I have the freedom to get into the purpose of our conversation. ③ ‘Why was it important to you to dedicate your energy towards this?’ delves into the ‘pain’ and the ‘why’. The viewer/reader must care about the problem before they can care about the solution. ④ ‘How long before you took action?’ ‘What were some of the self-talk, fears, doubt before you dove in?’ More of the above, more ways for the viewer of the video to see themselves in the story and think ‘I feel that way right now’ ⑤ ‘What attracted you to the service?’ Allows the customer to put in their own words what the business ‘does’ and how they saw them as the right fit. This puts no words in their mouth at all. This is a true measure of the perception of the business, instead of feeding them talking points, however unintentionally. ⑥ ‘What came up that was unexpected during the process?’ This question does open the door to having them express something that was less-than-perfect with the service they received, which can happen. I might rephrase this as ‘Anything unexpected come up in the service? Something that put a smile on your face that you didn’t expect?’ ⑦ ‘What has been the result?’ ‘What has this done for you?’ Provides the black-and-white answer to what the service is and also the ‘feelings’ angle on the service. ⑧ dude - time-machine question is a whopper. To turn to the camera. To have them tell their past self - because they’re looking into the eyes of the customer who’s vetting my client right now! That’s amazing. Can’t wait to try that.
Thank you so much! This was so helpful! I usually ask, what would you say to those who are still doubting to do/buy XYZ? But asking them to talk to their past self will give it so much more impact.
These are excellent questions. it looks like it's going well with the story brand marketing that i love. thank you co much for this. can you share a sample video of your testimonials.
That’s a good idea if it means you’ll get the recorded testimonial. Some people can get nervous getting questioned on the spot. You just want to make sure their answers to come across as scripted or to rehearsed. You want them as authentic as possible.
Hi Kevin Fremon, I'm Sankalp from India. I have successfully registered in Twenty20 website, so my question is what type of photos can I upload on Twenty20? Please tell me...
Hi Kevin. I just found your channel after watching a video by Dad Dare who mentioned you. I think you should have way more subs by now because you are a great personality and enjoyable to watch and listen to. I have a suggestion for you. There is another youtuber, Gillian Perkins, and she helps people start and/or improve there youtube channels. She is a great teacher and has had a great success on youtube as well. Just a thought. I recommend her to many youtubers. She has a course you can take. Watch some of her videos and you will see why she is so great. I have no other affiliation with her except being a fan. Good luck and I subbed and liked! :-)
Hey Sheelah! Thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate it very much. I am familiar with Gillian and have seen a few of her videos. I watch Sunny Lenarduzzi for tips a well. I've considered investing in a course or some group program so it's on my radar for sure. Thanks for the sub and like. I appreciate you!

Btw, where's the eight question ❓ Is it asking the client to intro him or her self
Awesome! So glad these questions were helpful. Thanks for taking the time to let me know.
