One thing to note : swapping belt doesn't take as long as reloading , it take around 0.5 sec to swap.

One "unusual" thing about this VBCI : it has dual feed magazines, which means if you take two types of ammo, you can switch between them instantly, meaning you effectively have 150 rounds in the belt rather than 75. However it doesn't work if you only have one ammo type.
The Puma already got that, so... "unusual" indeed as its not the first one to get it.

Weird how you cant just jam the same belt in the other feed "tube" considering it is the same caliber. I get that dual feed exists to swap between ammo belts but there should be nothing stopping you from swapping to the same ammo.
@@Conner_2100 It is most certainly a coding issue. Kinda like the fact tanks with dual barrels have dedicated ammo for each and cannot reload with the other's (even though it's obviously the same ammo).
Gaijin could circumvent that by creating duplicate belts, but that'd be only for a real niche use, and as you say it goes agains the IRL purpose of dual-feed mechanisms
That turret is actually on a Stryker, Stryker Dragoon. That would be cool to see.

I imagine the french tech tree with IFV and APC, it will be horrible to fight against but so much fun. Actually the french tech tree is half of what it will be in the future

Bought it on the day the update was dropped. I always wanted an 8x8 NATO IFV as a premium since years ago.
This thing is one of the most fun I've had in War Thunder Ground RB in years. Also Gaijin gimped the VBCI 2, the Kongsberg brochure for the MCT 30 turret on the VBCI literally states HEVT are a part of the package.
They also messed up the way amunition feeding works. It has a linkless feed system that consists of two ammo racks connected to the gun, so there should be no time delay when switching between two ammo types.

As a French main this hurts my soul, the fact i had to carry with a mephisto as a "scout" to get my mirage out but hopefully the next one they add is a tech version with a missile or something. Oh, and Justin In field test it's not aquatic sadly, maybe they will change it in the future but for not it's a baguette flavored rock. Keep up the good work boss!

From what I saw is that this is the export version of the IFV. There is one with a 25mm, one with a 40mm, and I believe one with a cannon and atgms
There's the VBCI with the 25mm, the VBCI 2 with the CTA 40 and launchers, a remote CTA 40 of pretty much the same thing, then there's this with the MCT-30 turret.
The VBCI can also take the turret of the bmp-3. But I'm yet to find a photo of it.
@@wifi_soldier5076 I forgot about that one. Would actually be a pretty good addition. I wouldn't take it over other options, but it's not CTA 40 & Akeron levels of potentially overpowered.

@@wifi_soldier5076 Only a model photo with BMP-3 turret, Patria AMV is rn the only western APC/AMV/IFV/etc with BMP-3 turret put on and in use.

At least it's the least know VBCI variant that Gaijin push as premium.
We still can have for the TT the first VBCI with a 25mm, and 2x VBCI 2 with 40mm + akeron atgm (F&F), the difference between the VBCI2 is the basic VBCI 2 have crew in the turret, and the VBCI Philoctète is like this premium, no crew in the turret.

The regular one in use in the French army is armed with a 25mm so I think the regular will be in the tech tree

@@lsq7833 the 25mm one doesn't have all that, this version with 30mm bushmaster is a modernization export variant of the VBCI
@@lsq7833 It doesn't have the unmanned turret and the 25mm would be even more unusable against any Soviet armor at 9.0. Maybe if they gave it the Titanium armor package, but I doubt they would since it's not on this one.
As a top tier _light tank,_ France should get the Jaguar EBRC. 40mm CTA cannon, Akeron MP missiles and excellent thermals, all that on a 6×6.

I hated seeing this vehicle as a premium. France's TT is sorely lacking in high to top tier vehicles, especially in light tanks. Anything with a stabilizer. But nooo, we have to make it effing premium. Very big yikes.
Probably will get the T40 version (cannon + missiles) in the TT. Glad we didn't get the T40 as a premium ... yet.
@@Kwisssidk what to expect for France tbh. So far, Gaijin has been largely uninterested in adding stuff on the French TT, in top tier or otherwise, and the gaps are ridiculous. I get that France isn't the most popular TT these days (especially after the overall nerfs and BR raises for French autoloaders), but the unique and quirky vehicles should not be locked behind a paywall on an update dedicated to France lol.
You know, when I 1st saw like a thumbnail of this vehicle on YT, I thought Gaijin had added a Patria vehicle into the game. Looks surprisingly alike.

be cool if they made a small chance the wire would break and watch your missile go crazy. happened to some Marine buddies was scary as fuck and we had one where the ojive plunger went to far down and held the outer shell of the missile in the round and the guts flew out. I never saw Marines move so fast and never track the IR siginiture of the missile seen that once too

This version being a premium is fine since it’s an export model but it sucks there’s no tech tree equivalent that should have been added as well
They will likely add the 40mm version as a tech tree vehicle

i've gotten a nuke with this vehicle sniping, i've tanked a bunch of shots cause its so massive nobody knows where to hit it, its super trolly to the fact that i've actually managed to tank multiple ATGMS, i love this vehicle
The class 3 is even more trolly. Spaced armor inside and just a general abundance of space. Used it to grind out the last operation suffer very effectively because it has dm33 with a nice stab and speed at 8.7 with its trolly gaps. If you do not shoot center of hull it usually takes no damage.

Take. 1. Belt. Of. Default ammo. To take advantage of the 0.5 seconds belt switch.
I tried initially during the day one patch and it did not function.

Switching belt is nearly instant... unfortunately, you have to have a different kind of belt in order to enable this, which is unrealistic by the way. Normally you should be able to fire 150 rounds without reloading...
I feel like modern IFVs/wheeled vehicles are really lacking in WT. I'd love to see a major IFV/wheeled vehicle update that adds things including but not limited to:

On some brs are more ifv being played than the mbt cause they got all the shiny tech earlier than the mbts usually even tho thats not a reason to dont add more of them thats just caused by balancing

The premium vickers mbt is basically the 7.7 mk1 but having heat which will help alot, but the drawback of not having as much mobility as the mk3 vickers or laser range finder, id say it is a good buy but the khalid, rooikat or even the challenger ds is a better buy

Yes, that is the CROWS. That turret is Norwegian, made by Kongsberg, so the same company that designed the CROWS.

@@macekeeks3085 Was it installed on the VBCI 2 though? I know the Protector RWS with a Javelin (also on the same turret as here) was put on the Patria AMV 28A, but I haven't seen it anywhere else.

what if think of this thing is its an absolute waste of £50, when you can get a turms for that price. Or a AMX Super, comes with GE and premium time plus its way more versatile and just flat-out better. Theres no reason to get this, especially at that price

Getting so fed up with premiums now. 8.3 to 10.0 has been killed now with the one tank no idea brigade. Games are over in a couple of minutes with the headless chicken rush, then they all die and before you know it your on your own because you are the only player with a lineup!!! It’s killing the game!!
I faced this thing yesterday, I was in a pt7657 and I could not kill it, I hadn’t seen it before, I came out the game and looked at this thing in the X-ray to find what the heck happened, the crew is SO LOW DOWN and there’s so much stuff in front of them, seems kinda op tbh
