  • Today, we're taking a closer look at the Megamo Native 01, a striking entry in the lightweight e-MTB category that's turning heads with its sleek carbon frame and trail-ready capabilities. This Spanish beauty isn't just a pretty face; it's designed for those who crave playful agility on rough trails without sacrificing the boost from an electric motor.
At the heart of the Megamo Native 01 is the TQ HPR50 motor. This compact powerhouse is quickly becoming a crowd favorite, delivering a natural and exceptionally quiet ride experience. With a peak power of 320 watts and 50 Nm of torque, it offers three assistance modes to tackle any incline. The integrated 2" display on the top tube keeps all your ride data in clear view, while the TQ E-Bike app allows for seamless smartphone connectivity to manage your ride settings.
Battery life is a common concern, but the Megamo Native 01's 360 Wh battery strikes a fine balance between weight and range. Coupled with the bike's overall lightness and the smooth rolling Maxxis Rekon tires, range anxiety becomes a thing of the past. And for the long haul, there's an option for a 160 Wh range extender, bumping the total capacity up to a substantial 520 Wh.
Suspension is another highlight. The bike's rear can work with both air and coil shocks, and the frame can even accommodate a 160 mm fork, transforming the Native into a full-fledged enduro racer when paired with the flip chip in its open position.
When it comes to components, the top-of-the-line model doesn't skimp. We're talking about a Sram XX Eagle 12-speed transmission, Shimano Deore XT brakes with four-piston calipers, and RaceFace carbon rims. It's a setup that's as robust as it is refined, though the stock Maxxis Rekon 2.6" tires may be more suited to XC than aggressive trail riding.
Now, let's talk numbers. Weighing in at 17.43 kg for a medium size, without pedals, the Native 01 is competitive in its class, even if it's a tad heavier than the advertised 15.45 kg.
As for pricing, this top-tier model comes in at €12,499. It's a premium, yes, but when you consider the quality of components and the cutting-edge motor and battery system, it's on par with other flagship models.
Before we wrap up, let's not forget about the warranty. Since January 1, 2023, Megamo offers a lifetime guarantee on all bike frames purchased from authorized dealers, with a few conditions to be met, including bike registration within 30 days of purchase.
And that's all for today's overview of the Megamo Native 01. If you enjoyed the video and want to stay updated on all things biking, don't forget to hit that subscribe button.
