- Looks like BouGear is on a Peavey testing spree!
A nice friend of mine, Ken, told me that I absolutely had to test the Peavey JSX. Ken lent me his JSX so that I could put it under the BouGear microscope!
I have to admit that this amp surprised me a lot! Performing under several sound fields, a beautiful quality of manufacture with a fully functional FxLoop, etc...

I'm really enjoying your videos!
I always find myself coming back to this vid. This JSX sounds great. I had been all about EL34’s in mine, but after seeing you have 6L6’s in this … really makes me want to try 6L6’s again.
4:08 nice little Bloodbath snippet
Opeth, not Bloodbath.
Nasty tones
I own the Bugera 333xl Infinium, literally a copy of the JSX. Great Amp!
The best Peavey amp hands down. I was comparing it to the 6505 and it blew it out of the water.
The Beltway Bandits Mat 👍🪘
Machine !
Nice tolex! 😀
This sounds killer! Are you using any post eq? Sound tight like a tiger
All BouGear video are with raw audio take (except for the intro or the mixing section). So, no, no post eq after the Sm57 mic.
@@bougear it really sounds amazing. Those are EL34s I presume, would love to get my hands on one. Currently I'm playing through an Iconic (really not doing it for me) I'm using a prs with mojotone tomahawk pups. Probably a voicing issue as opposed to my pickups..... Anyway I was really really impressed with this amp and the tight riffing.
I make sure to keep the tracks RAW so that an individual can get a feel of the sound of the amp without gimmicks or post-eq studio magic.
@@nathancloud6344 If I remember well, the JSX in that video was equipped with 4x 6L6.
what do you think 5150 vs jsx ? which cuts through better in the mix and whoch one hads more dynamics range ? cheers
For the cut through the mix question, the 5150 is a solid beast who always CUT in the mix. The middle growling is killer on this one.
For the dynamic range, Im not sure if I understand correctly the question, you can cover more tone possibilities with the JSX, but the 5150 cover a RAW ANGRY TONE field where the JSX cannot greatly cover compared to.
I writed some sentence about the head at the end of each video usually.
Rock On ! Gear On ! Peavey On !
@@bougear thks man ! by any chance would you have kept the WAV audio files of the shootout jsx vs 5150 ? cheers
@@soundsokokI only made one video for each amp. I did not compare the two in the same video. Are you talking about the tracks of the two videos? I only have the JSX files still in the bank. I quickly delete this kind of test once archived on youtube.
I own a 5150 II and a JSX. And the JSX does infact cut through better over the 5150. Active EQ(JSX) vs none active EQ (5150 II)
@@bougear if you still have the wav for the jsx do you think you could send a link on we tranfer please ? that's d be nice of you !
Can’t believe I almost sold mine.
I have a 3120 and would luv to trade for a JSX, but I've been told both amps are somewhat similar.
I actually have one 3120 on the bench test. I will make a video on it. Great amp!
@@bougear looking forward to that
Where can I get those knobs and screws for my JSX??!
Knobs look like stock ones powercoated. Screws are stock. They just took off the goofy chrome plates.
Doesn't have any low end
19:48 - No low end ?
The crunch channel CAN be a little thin, but it's very easy to dial in. Overall the JSX is way fatter than the XXX and the only Peavey that's got bigger bass is the 5150/6505.
Haha.
These amps can EASILY have too much low end ... just fiddle with the bass and resonance controls and you will see what I mean.
Well... Joe Satriani used to crank the overdrive channel's bass knob of his JSX
Not really alot of gain even considering youthbe audio sucks
