My husband has been gone for seven years and I still close my eyes and remember how it felt when he held me in his arms while dancing. George Strait songs still carry me back to the good times. Just wanted you to know. 😃 My family have roots in this small town. Ace in the Hole not only played in Gruene Hall also at the Crystal Chandelier. Don't know where I was when this song came out, but I heard it for the first time last summer at the Little Big Town/Chris Stapleton/George Strait concert in Nashville. And it broke me. My late wife introduced me to Strait Country as well as Gruene Hall (which is in Gruene, not New Braunfels). I can't even listen because I'll get to missing her. Then the hurting gets worse. But OMG. It tears me the f*** up, but man, what a great song.
For 18 years I had the pleasure of loving one of the Kings biggest fans ( I would say the biggest ) but there are many out there. I lost her on 22 Jan. 2022, she now looks down on me watching over me helping me get to the other side. When I hear the KIng on the radio my eyes fill with tears as they are now.
