Ironically both songs use a comparison between love and the ocean, albeit in different ways - with Perhaps Love delving into a greater, less romantic, more wholistic appraisal of love. That being said it was made to be performed with Placido Domingo as it is on the studio track, I don't think it could sound right live.

The ONLY concert I've ever been is John Denver in 1992? in Boise, Idaho. Wow! 3 hrs easy with the Hell's Canyon quartet (classical quartet) playing in the interlude. He chatted us up during the breaks!
I first heard this as a teenager. I built my dreams around finding a woman that could evoke the emotion in me that he pours into this song. It destroyed me when I read about his divorce. I thought after these lyrics and those to "Annie's Other Song", if they can't make it what chance do I have.
