I saw an interview with Annie after John's death. She said he wrote the song after an arguement. John had left their house and went skiing, and the words came to him while on the ski lift. Unfortunately, their marriage did not survive his celebrity and the travel that required. But you could tell from this interview, that even after they had divorced, Annie still felt love for John.
He too still had love for her. If I read this correctly, shortly before the crash he was out of town and they were on the phone together. He told her he loved her, she told him the same and that she’ll see him when he got back.
Watching this makes me cry a little. His voice was so perfect. His words were so touching. He died far too young. I can only imagine how many more incredible songs he would have written and sang. I miss him so much.
He was truly one of the greats! He had an incredible gift. I heard someone once describe John as “A song’s best friend”. Couldn’t describe it any better than that.
This was a live performance back in 1995. It was the Wildlife Concert. Two years later in 1997 we would lose him on an Experimental Glide Plane he was Flying. He was one of the greatest singer/songwriters ever! The world lost one of the greatest human beings who cared so much about the Environment and Wildlife. He is truly missed. Rest in Peace John Denver. You gave the world your gift of song that will last an eternity.
I have always loved this love song! The lyrics sound so sincere...though this live performance was amazing, I still love the original recording. It's the sighs for me.😊
I remember my Dad raving about him when i was young and he had some of his albums. I never appreciated Denver's pure talent and quality until i got older into adulthood. Now i fully appreciate how brilliant he was and how great his music is. Loved to have seem him in concert in his day. This song is particularly beautiful and touching too. RIP John. 😢
Great choice of song! This has to be one of the best love songs, if not the best songs ever written. So much beauty and emotion. John really was a genius and a beautiful soul. ♥
"Country Roads(Take me Home)", "Sunshine (on my shoulders)", "Calypso"... If you need to relax and have some warm feelings, you can't go wrong with John Denver!
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. John was a national treasure who left us far too soon Great selection baby girl. John has so many great songs to check out.
you're welcome, you're welcome, you're welome. This man had a love for Denver, Colorado and sang with music that's lasted for decades that people still listen to today. R.I.P. John
This song has always had a special place in my heart ❤️! As my name is Annie my husband played it at our wedding 🥰🥰🥰! Thanks Mo for another wonderful reaction👍🏻👍🏻❤️! Take care!
John had such a special talent for writing down what he was feeling in his heart,.and sang with pure and true emotions. You give the same vibe in your reactions. Thanks for sharing that.🤩
My wife melted the first time I played this song. Cried in the second verse. “Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms, let me lay down beside you, let me always be with you” Bars
Seeing you singing and dancing in the bloopers was a treat! Aside from that, John Denver was a musical treasure. I didn't appreciate him when he was with us but now that he's gone I recognize his artistry for what it was...beautifylly executed.
I've always thought John Denver was a wonderful singer. This has to be my favorite song of his. I loved your reaction. You're beautiful! Love your reactions!
John was a super star in the 70's. He wrote lots of great songs. Leaving on a jet plane, Starwood in Aspen and Friends With You are my favourites. Take care Morenikeji. 🤠
Hi, Mo. John Denver was one of my 'secret favourite' singers/songwriters as my friends weren't fans of his music, so I was really happy to see you react to this song. RIP John 🥀 You were so funny in the bloopers section. Thanks for sharing 👍
Grew up with my mother playing John Denver constantly. While I found many of my own musical paths to follow thru life, I can comfortably always go back to John Denver's words and music, and it brings me back. And it feels good.
Mo, once again, I am totally captivated by the way you react to songs! You feel the music with such sincerity, then you provide your insight as to the song's meaningful lyrics. You are a joy to watch!
So good to watch this with you. It always seems to me that you respond to something deep in the song, kind of to the songwriting itself. And John Denver was a really really good songwriter. Brings a tear just hearing him again. Thank you for sharing this, from your heart, as always. Keep going and bringing us so much joy and beauty. So much love for you my baby girl...❤❤❤
John denver had one of those beautiful..lilting .carrying voices that could transcend a simple lyric beyond its range...ideal for country music sentiment...for plaintive delivery of the heart wrenching saddest songs
I think this is his prettiest melody. The words are gripping as well. I feel like watching "Oh, God!" now, even though his music is not in it. He is so great in it, and George Burns is perfect. That movie makes me feel as good as his music does.
This really was a gorgeous arrangement of this song. It’s quite different from the album version but the orchestral arrangement and especially the addition of the mandolin made it even better!
I remember crying so much when I heard this song for the first time. This is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written. It made me want to be loved like this. Edit: RIP John Denver. I know your up in heaven singing your beautiful songs.
You are as beautiful as this song. Some songs may be as good, but no song is more beautiful. Kind of like you. There may be some ladies as pretty, but NONE more pretty or lovely. I took joy watching your joy
I was fortunate enough to be at his live concert so many years ago. His performances totally absorbed everyone. And he was such a kind. sincere person. He stayed with his wife as long as humanly possible, in spite of the fact that there must have been millions of women who would have gladly stayed with him. no matter how often he had to travel for his concerts. This song made us know that we had someone to share our ride through life with. We felt loved.
Hi Mo, great to see you back again. Usual great reaction to an emotional, straight from the heart song ( my favourite of his ). Great to see some braids back, keep on smiling beautiful girl!
John was one of a kind, not "in a Lifetime... But EVER! A Duet he did with Olivia Newton John called "Fly Away" is a MUST REACT TO! But make Sure it's either the Televised or studio versions (they had Olivia in them)... In the Live Shows Olivia couldn't be there, so John had the Ladies in the Audience do her part.
Its a beautiful song. You always pick p on the lyrics and I love your face lighting up as you listen. The laugh at the end with the bloopers and your smile just made my day❤❤
You just made this old man’s night. Don’t wait so long next time. We need to see that pretty face more. Oh yeah, John Denver music is fantastic. One of my favorites when I was young. He left us way to soon.
I love his songs especially this one. He actually went to my country to sail in Viking boats. Later he was killed in an airplane crash. And he wrote "leaving on a jetplane"
I was fortunate enough to attend one of his concerts. He was the most amazing singer I have ever seen. His voice was absolutely pure. It was a long concert and at one point the band had to take a break due to union rules. During the break he sang a capella. It was amazing. 🎉 Unfortunately he and Annie divorced. The pressures of his never being home was too much for his marriage. 😢
Hi Mo, another great vid. If you are still in that slow and sentimental mood, there's another great song called ''Stay With Me Till Dawn'' by Judy Tzuke (pronounced Zook) You will love it, I promise! Make sure you get the official video.
now to my real comment! 😊 my favourite baby girl is back with a new hairstyle! 👏😘 And such a cute opening! A heartfelt song - i enjoyed this live version. I loved the bloopers! (with the added surprise of you dancing - YAY!). also when your bag fell off the hook it made me laugh too! Have a great weekend and lots of love 💞💞
His story is sad and gut-wrenching for me, as someone who has loved and lost but also, I was frequently told I look like John Denver when I was young. I also played guitar and loved nature. I am still alone, deeply cares and is not afraid.
Denver wrote this for his wife at the time, Annie Martell, i.e. Annie Denver, after they had a major fight and brief separation. Apparently, Denver wrote the song in 10 minutes while he was riding a ski lift up an Aspen mountain in Colorado, reflecting on how thankful he was they didn't break up.
You mentioned earlier that you enjoyed instrumentals and I saw your reaction to Nessun Dorman by Pavarotti thus enjoy the same piece by Jeff Beck, best guitarist of all TIME many say.
RIP John Denver... one of the most talented song writes and performers. Annies song is my Favorite !!!
At 59 I wish I could write a song like this for my wife. She deserves so much more than I could ever give her.
❤
You just did bro. Eleven simple words that say everything.
You Still Can. Please don't let it Pass.
I grew up with Denver. Took him for granted. Musicians that can paint feelings into music like this are rare.
I got to see him perform in 1980, very enjoyable.
And to have such a clear, pure voice with much emotion is indeed rare; but to be able to touch our hearts with his songs is a gift to the world.
Your comment was poetry......"paint feelings into music"! Wow!
Well put!!
“Paint feelings into music” 💯💯💯
We still miss you so much, John.....
& We Always Will 💔😭
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. I loved this performance. Just lovely.
and yes he wrote this beautiful song in ten minutes
👏❤️
I saw an interview with Annie after John's death. She said he wrote the song after an arguement. John had left their house and went skiing, and the words came to him while on the ski lift. Oh to have a man write a song like that about you!!! Every line is a jewel. He was a poet. Miss him.
After listening to this song for almost 50 years, I'm still touched by how beautiful it is.
Its simple. thats why its magic. just raw emotion
This was a live performance back in 1995. It was the Wildlife Concert. Two years later in 1997 we would lose him on an Experimental Glide Plane he was Flying. I have always loved this love song! The lyrics sound so sincere...though this live performance was amazing, I still love the original recording. It's the sighs for me.😊
His voice was slowly morphing as he aged. I wish je was able to coninue his amazing contribution to the music world
I remember my Dad raving about him when i was young and he had some of his albums. I never appreciated Denver's pure talent and quality until i got older into adulthood. Undeniably beautiful.
John was an amazing songwriter and absolutely awesome vocalist! He had a golden voice!
💯👏👏
This is the most beautiful song ever written in my opinion.
The greatest love song ever written. By one of the best singers ever. I loved your reaction and the smile on your face when you listen to it.😍❤️❤️❤️.
A very unique musical artist. I've heard this song from John Denver all of my life. There won't be anymore of him or this kind of music unfortunately.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. John was a national treasure who left us far too soon

John was the number one world wide recording artist 5 years in a row. I saw him several times and his concerts were incredible
One of my favourite songs from this period.
So worth it💯💯
Seeing you singing and dancing in the bloopers was a treat! Aside from that, John Denver was a musical treasure. I didn't appreciate him when he was with us but now that he's gone I recognize his artistry for what it was...beautifylly executed.

This performance is a world treasure.
There's a reason this song was played at every wedding in the mid to late 70s.
So assuring💗
John was a super star in the 70's. He wrote lots of great songs. Leaving on a jet plane, Starwood in Aspen and Friends With You are my favourites. Take care Morenikeji. 🤠

What a great performer and reaction! Two John Denver songs I really like: I'm Sorry and Matthew.
27 Years Without John In The World Never Forgotten RIP John 💔😭 We Miss You This Was Johns Best Concert Done In 1995 2 Years Later We Lost Him 😢😢😢
So good to watch this with you. It always seems to me that you respond to something deep in the song, kind of to the songwriting itself. And John Denver was a really really good songwriter. John Denver really was a good songwriter. Those were really intentional lyrics 🥹❤️
John denver had one of those beautiful..lilting .carrying voices that could transcend a simple lyric beyond its range...ideal for country music sentiment...for plaintive delivery of the heart wrenching saddest songs
I didn't appreciate John Denver in my younger days but his songs are really beautiful, and he's a fantastic singer.
Really fantastic singer👏😊

Greatest love song ever done.
Listening to John Denver is like a drink of fresh cold spring water when you didn't even know your throat was parched.
This really was a gorgeous arrangement of this song. It’s quite different from the album version but the orchestral arrangement and especially the addition of the mandolin made it even better!
Love watching your face and emotions when you listen to these songs
I remember crying so much when I heard this song for the first time. This is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written. It made me want to be loved like this.
Edit: RIP John Denver. I know your up in heaven singing your beautiful songs.
The most romantic song there is imo. I'm old so I've heard a few. Hugs from Sweden.
Since you like this song I think you'll also like another beautiful oldie by James Taylor, "You've Got a Friend."
Beautiful reaction you are a gem

Among the most romantic lyrics ever written. Your expression hearing them for the first time is every woman hearing them for the first time. Melting ❤
Song about what life and love is all about , truth eye to eye

I recommend the version with John Denver and Placido Domingo. For me the best. Greetings from Vienna/Austria 🎼🎶🇦🇹
They just don’t write them like this anymore ❤beautiful
He gave his life
Years since I heard this.
Aww☺️
Beautiful song! Hard to think a woman wouldn't fall in love with you if you sang this to her.
She will love this song!
You’re right!👏
just beautiful!
Nice choice. Your reaction is like it was for most of us who first heard it. Hope you do some more of his music.
Thank youuuu😍
Sorry if sound shallow but I just love how genuine you are, you seem like a lovely human being. Greetings from Sweden.

Love your reactions. You seem genuinely moved by music, as I am. Thanks, keep doing what you do.
One of my most favorite "beautiful" but powerful songs is "Why" by Annie Lennox, and I really think you would love it.
Well noted❤️
Thanks, girl! What an amazing songwriter and performer.. would you not love to have someone write a song like this for you?? I know that I would...
