Best Halloween costume was in college … as a tall girl myself (5’10”) with a petite roommate , we went as the Jolly Green Giant and Sprout. We wore green leggings and shirts, twisted green pipe cleaners and fake flowers around our arms and legs and green make up. We were too cute.

Dressing as Lydia Deetz was definitely my favorite costume and the best part was that most everything I wore i already had.
I use a donut pan to bake extra pancake batter with a bit of sprinkles mixed in, the kids love them. They take them for a special school snack that is super easy.
I think the cookies could use a little marshmallow fluff in between to hold the back part up. Fun video Rachel.
Halloween is my favourite holiday. I love coming up with a costume and scouring thrift stores for the perfect pieces! My favourite costume was a ventriloquist puppet. This year, I'm dressing up as a gumball machine!
When I was in high school, I made a Dorothy costume and my 2 or 3 year old nephew was the tin man. Last year (15 years later) my daughter wore the same tin man costume… I definitely didn’t fit the same costume so I bought a Dorothy costume 😂😂

One of my fav costumes as an adult was when I dressed all in grey, put grey powder on my hair, and stapled grey paint swatches all over my shirt - 50 Shades of Grey 😊
For icing the donuts, you can put the icing in a shallow bowl and dip them. Dip the donut, lift it, give it a twist to catch the drips, and set it back on the rack. No piping bag needed, and much faster.

So to do the chocolate milk in advance rachel, you can put the fluff in all the cups, put the marker on them, set them aside and then when everyone gets there fill up the cups as people want some

As a Canadian living overseas, I still LOVE Halloween but good luck trying to justify knocking on random strangers' doors to ask for candy to my 12 yr old! "So, ghosts like to eat pumpkin and that's why you wore a costume!?!" "Why the vampire teeths, aren't they from Transylvanya?" Well, to my other fellow Canadians, Happy Halloween!!!!

For the ghost cups with the pudding, you could put the crumbled oreos on top with gummy worms to make it look like a graveyard 🤗. It would be so cute and “spooky”

You should check your local library for weird pans you're only going to use once. I'm in a small city in AB and ours has a bunch of different shaped ones that you can borrow so long as you have a library card!
I use a spice cake mix with pumpkin to make muffins. Also, you could dip the tops of the donuts into the glaze rather than pipe it on. I think the cookies were adorable but would be easier to eat with some frosting inside, making it into a cookie sandwich.

Several years ago I went as the Raven Queen. I glued black iridescent feathers on a corset, black sequins on a tulle skirt, wore black oil slick boots and black tights, and did my makeup very goth and purple iridescent. I found a black filigree mask and put feathers in my hair, which happens to be black with violet highlights. Oh, and black raven wings. I LOVE that costume!

I feel like the ghost one would work really well with like Jello pudding. You could prepare it ahead of time and store them in the freezer. Then the kids (or you) could draw on the faces
I'm an actuarial analyst and one Halloween at work I dressed up as an actuarial exam because those things are SCARY 🤣 As for a less geeky costume, I dressed up as Winnie the Pooh on another Halloween at work. I got a red tshirt and used fabric paint to draw on "Pooh", wore some orange-y yellow pants, my Pooh Vans shoes and Pooh Mickey hat from Disney World, and brought my favorite stuffed Pooh with me. It was cute. I never dress up for Halloween anymore (prior to these times, I think my last costume was during my high school days. I wore one of those creepy unicorn head masks hahah)
When I was a kid my mom used to make all our costumes. Here are a few, an elephant, ghost, hobos, refrigerator, and my grandma made a clown costume that they mom and grandma stuffed a ton of balloons, my mom used to own a vintage shop, she had a flapper dress and headband thingy. I took it in and my daughter dressed as a flapper girl.

If the perm marker smudges, you can put a piece of clear scotch tape over it to stop the smudging! I do this for binder tabs ect

Use melted chocolate to draw on the ghost face inside the cup (I would use a chop stick or wooden skewer) -
Let set till set, then gently apply the fluff ghost over the chocolate face -
The let set or maybe chill for a short bit to set, and then add the drink. - no mess to worry about and well chocolate!

My crowning costume achievement was when I was maybe 23 or 24. I went as Rose DeWitt Bukater post-iceberg in the water. So I took my senior prom dress, which as an Elder Millennial was of course Titanic inspired 😂, and added a life jacket I made out of blocks of foam and a white terry cloth towel. I found a make up kit at WalMart for an “Ice Queen” which was PERFECT: took a shower and washed my hair, immediately put gel in the wet hair to keep it wet looking. Painted my face white and glued the Ice Queen crystals to my face. I also had a whistle 😂😂😂 because it was like 2005, there are no photos of this bc it was pre-smart phone but I still think about how proud I was of that costume. (I also had a pretty great Professor Trewlaney costume once. And one year, a coworker and I went as a pair of contestants on Legends of the Hidden Temple…)
I was a box of crest toothpaste when I was 12. Hand painted the entire thing myself down to the barcode. Lol
FYI, Wal Mart and Party City have a 16” prismatic ghost! Walmart is a lot cheaper.

2016 my family went as the whole scooby gang, Scooby-Doo included. And then last year for my son's first Halloween i was a cow, and my husband and son were cowboys. This year with a 3 month old my husband and oldest are matching in work uniforms and me and my youngest will be jack-o'-lantern themed.
I am going as Joy from inside out to work. With wig and all!

My favorite costume I made was a Beetlejuice one back in high school! I handmade the wig to make sure I had a receding hairline and glued on fake moss on my face. I got LOTS of candy that year, people loved my costume.

I was Pocahontas and Jasmine when I was a kid. I loved those costumes. My grandmother made them, she made all my Halloween costumes when I was little. I wish I still had them. Another favorite was I dressed as Kirsten, the American Girl doll, and that year we were at Disney world on Halloween!
I feel like some spices added to the donut batter would be better to make them pumpkin spiced. Maybe nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice. Also, I think you may need to replace your confectioner’s sugar with a fresh bag cause it’s hard and clumpy. The donuts look amazing!

I do halloween siblings costumes every year for my kids. 1st year, my daughter was a cow and I turned her stroller into a barn, my son was a farmer. 2nd year they were a bar of soap and a loofah, 3rd year my daughter was Dorothy and my son was a tornado (my favorite costumes by far!) and this year my daughter is a slice of pizza and my son is the pizza delivery guy. 😊
When I'm out trick-or-treating with my kids I usually just wear a onesie too, it's a pink tiger type thing. We live in Quebec, so it's really cold come Halloween, too. Except last year, it was unseasonally warm! If it's for an indoor Halloween party, last year I bought a steampunk kit, and I'm in love with it, I'll be wearing it this year too 😅 but my dream is to get an Attack on Titan full cosplay gear

When I was about 10 my grandparents gave me an electric blue liquid eye shadow (circa 1999), so with that as inspiration, we took my grandmas clothes, stuffed pillows everywhere, and I went as Mimi from the Drew Carey Show. Still my best costume
Best costume I had I think is one I made by myself that is a cookie monster. I sew the face on a blue t shirt and made a blue tutu skirt. Also I took a basket and wrapped it in blue faders and filled it with chocolate chip cookies. 🤪🍪 Rach as the queen of chocolate chip cookies I dare you to wear one!😜

This year I am going with a nostalgic costume! Going to be a double dare contestant! Complete with helmet, pads, googles ect. the marshmallow fluff ghost on the glasses.. you could still do the chocolate milk idea if you just prep the ghost ahead of time, do not fill it with the chocolate milk until ready to serve...
could also do the same thing for other holidays by coloring the marshmallow fluff.. red or pink hearts for valentines day.. green xmas tree.. etc
My best friend and I have a private group for sending pictures and links and anything else that catches our eye instead of cluttering up our chat and the past month or so it's almost entirely Halloween recipes and decorations, so I've seen pretty much all of these XD
I think my favorite ever costume was steampunk Princess Leia. I put so much work into that costume, including making a faux leather corset and gun belt and painting a nerf gun XD my husband was away visiting friends that year, and my bestie was pregnant so we just made her belly into the Death Star and went together lol.
This year we're doing a circus theme - hubby is the ringleader (obviously lol), I'm a lion tamer, my youngest (almost 2) is a lion, middle is a tightrope walker, and oldest is a magician =) We do a trunk or treat with our homeschool group so I can get my fill of giving out treats since we live in an apartment, and our trunk is going to be a concession stand lol. I go all out for Halloween. We're working on saving to buy a house and I swear when we get it I'm going to be that lady who does a whole scene in the front yard XD

In high school, myself and three friends had the initials of the genetic code, GCAT. So we dressed up as DNA for Halloween.
For a couple of years (until my nephew grew out of loving the movie Frozen), I dressed up as Anna. He swore to everyone he knew I was her-an older, fatter her but her all the same. He was convicted that I was just hiding out in the States.🤣🤣🤣 Might I suggest putting the icing in a bowl and dipping the donuts for a cleaner look?
The ghost cups...why do they tell you to do the eyes after pouring in milk?!
If you wanted to make a big batch or prep them for a party, you could just do the marshmallow and faces and then pour them when needed.
I don't know how hard this would be but how cute would it be if instead of drawing the eyes and mouth, you removed the fluff to make 'holes' for the face (maybe a fingertip with paper towel?). That way whatever you put in them would make the eye and mouth colour...you could do different coloured jelly (jello? I'm Aussie sorry).
I work at a campy theatre restaurant called Witches in Britches so of course we love Halloween. I'll be working so probably in a pretty classic witch costume but my favourite costume I've ever done was a zipper face demon lady (sexy dress, red horns, spirit gum a zipper 'opening' your face up and then a lot of fake blood).
Best Halloween costume for me was the EASIEST one to make. Cut out a massive fried egg out of white and yellow bristol board. Attached safety pins inside so I could pin it to my sweater. Popped on a devil tail and horns. Taa-daa. I was a Deviled Egg 😅
18:07 it's at around this time that I realized our nails are the same color! Haha. I love the pudding ghost cups, I would put broken up cookies on top as dirt and maybe some gummy worms or gummy body parts. Make it a whole graveyard thing!

- Hidden valley is really the only brand that makes "ranch seasoning" . In the states it will be the top shelf of where the salad dressings are. It is not cheap even here. A bottle is normally $9-12 usd depending on what store you're in. I just looked on CA Amazon, they do sell it on there, but $34+ I'm guessing that cad and not usd....$12 USD is about $16.50....so Amazon is double the price. If you had a PO box id happily ship you some 😊 if not, if you ever come to the US, definitely grab some. It's really good!
I love a good pun-costume. My favorite I've ever done was when I used fuzzy brown fabric and made sleeves with paws. I was the Second Amendment.
Favorite group costume was gender-bent Scooby-Doo gang. I was Fred and it was incredible.
Favorite solo costume was a skull. Just a skull. I was 6 and my dad helped me build a giant skull out of cardboard that we painted. I was literally just a skull, no body
For a slightly healthier version of the vampire mouth, use red apples & caramel to stick the marshmallows onto.
For a couples costume, (I hope this doesn't offend Catholic friends) ... a Priest & a noticeably pregnant Nun. The wife was truly pregnant, so that's what the couple thought of. 🙊
A Medusa costume (the mythic woman with snakes as hair)
I usually make two or three costumes a year, so I've got a lot to pick from. One of my favorites is Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes (I even cut my hair for it, full commitment!), complete with a lightsaber and the tacky yellow aviators.

Wait! The cheese ball is supposed to have crushed nuts (preferably fresh pecans) or something crunchy all chopped up and stuck to the outside. Someone else suggested Doritos, which frankly sounds like the best idea ever right now.
Use a hand mixer inside your pumpkin and it will come clean a lot faster!
