If only the Arma series had this level of polish
I remember you playing Mount&Blade: Napoleonic Wars. This game has a game mode called "Commander battle", where each player commanded a battalion or something (the amount of troops determined by what the server could handle) and players would fight each other. That would be so damn cool in this context! (could also be cool with Arma, but Armas AI would screw us over in that case)
Just imagine 2 sides with players each leading a squad or something fight each other on the map. That would make for nice and epic battles! One could only dream right? :)
long before I had a pc I had an xbox360 and the closes thing to arma I had was this game still love this one and the very first on my pc
I think this game is better just because if you have a decent pc you can actually run this game
The more I watch of this game, the more similarities to Arma I see.
Very similar, except Operation Flashpoint is actually optimized. Arma 2 and 3 have huge potential. Multiplayer servers and poor frame rates just ruin it though. Arma has great ideas, with poor execution.

You're right, nothing is downloadable anywhere anymore. Also most information about modding this game is lost. Tutorials, tips, tools, it's all gone.
Perhaps your community could be a new "base" of... something. There are no real forums up anywhere about this game afaik.

Great! OFDR was the first milsim I played, seeing someone play it again after all these years is absolutely amazing.

I think I remember playing one in the demo where you started off across the water from the objective. There was a helicopter pilot named "Donkey" that always ended up getting shot down. There was a fortress up on the hill you had to take
This is much more immersive than Arma 3
Gonna say this now but strategically speaking you should have pushed south and take the airfield. Denying the Enemy the use of that airfield. Then use that airfield to bring in heavy stuff and Air Assets...just like that gunship that definitely came from that Airfield. And dont let me get started on the fact that you did not a have a force screening your flanks....but thats just me lol Keep em coming Bluedrake and please be this game's savior.
I love this game , always have, I hope code asters do take note of these vids, so much potential. I used to play joint ops too I wonder if that's had the same treatment, that was an awesome game!

Having finished this game after release I was so disappointed but it looks better than I remember. I think my problem was, at the time, I was comparing it with CWC and Arma. Might give it another blast
I'm dying for a gameplay experience on a larger scale for the console community. I'd feel alright spending $60 on a game with more than just shooty shooty boom boom as an objective. Battlefield lost its strategic edge with BF1, and CoD is CoD. Rainbow Six Siege is alright for small scale tactical play, but just imagine cooperating with a whole battalion or even just being able to coordinate operations with your platoon and individual squads via squad leaders, or even a communications officer? Organizing the proper chain of command and channels to communicate through would revolutionize the FPS class. It's not new to blend elements of games together, but come on: large scale FPS with RTS and cooperative and vs multiplayer elements is a win no matter what. The only game I play on PC is EU4, so I don't know that the communities for Arma and Squad are all that great, but I do think with enough backing, the trend of a more in depth experience of what is essentially Modern Combat could become the new norm. At least I hope so.
I mean, just imagine playing the role of the Battalion's General, or even a platoon commander. Hell, I'd enjoy playing a lowly private rifleman, being fed orders the whole time, if I got to work alongside others with THIS sort of gameplay.

Hey BlueDrake, does the game work on Win7 x64 ? I have played it looong time ago but the CD doesnt work for mwe anymore, so iwanted to buy it on steam but it says it supports WinXP (doesnt say anything about windows 7)... I would LOVE to get back into it (considering i basically would help revive the game, maybe somebody interestred can peraphs answer me?)
Awesome vid only played this on xbox, so have never seen missions like this and it's what i wanted missions like that i could play with my team.
I played this for 10 years..just wished they did more for it..pretty sure this would be the death of all other milsims

I really like how intuitive it is in general and the immersion with ai chatter, ai requesting at other ai and general effects. Why can't arma be like that?

hey man do you know which mod make scopes open so there's no black layer around them? Bluedrake has it and its way better than this weird black void while aiming your gun. Unfortunately all forums and sites dissapeared and I cannot find specific mod that makes it happen :((

Hi. Only way to get rid of the command you gave your self is to move to it. Once that happens it will vanish and you can give vehicle commands again.
Pretty much the only thing that ever annoyed me about this game.

I made a mission one time, where I was the commander of an entire squad. Why the fuck didn't they do anything like that in the campaign?
The AI mod that comes with this turns the chinese into PUBG/CSGO pros

This game puts arma's ai to shame. I knew there was a reason Operation Flashpoint and Flashpoint resistance were so good compared to the other arma titles.
I play this game on console and there is literally 20 serious players on it everyone else thinks if they jump out of a helo at 200 ft up they'll survive

no mod support and codemasters pulled the plug on the servers. plus it was aimed more torwards console players.
