      We're hardwired to judge by looks, often for good reason. You're probably not going to let a guy with prison tats on his face babysit your kids.... just sayin'...

    "A DREAM COME TRUE!" She became the biggest thing in all of the United Kingdom and had a great run as the most popular singer in the land. She had a TV special and she had a guest performer join her, yes, Elaine Paige, who she admires very much and they actually sang a duet together. "ANOTHER DREAM COME TRUE!" During her life, before and after her appearance on Britain's Got Talent she's had health issues and it was so sad she was so victimized. I'll leave it at that. I believe what made this such a special moment of connection was that Susan Boyle was channeling the character Fantine who sang this song after she had been abused and thrown aside - the lowest a person can go with no hope left. But she could at least tell us, the audience, that she'd had a dream though it wouldn't come true. They only ray of hope was Val Jean taking care of her daughter. For Susan, she was also telling her story - we could see the pain she had experienced and that it was about to change in a big way.

    All these years later, I still get choked up at this performance, she never sang professionally and had to put her dreams on hold to take care of her ailing mother and this was her time to shine.
    Please react to her coming back on the show and performing “Wild Horses”, another jaw dropper, I’m still shocked she didn’t win.She’s now known all over the world and worth $40 million or more.😊

      @Christian_Adonis1 Sometimes those that don't win on these shows actually do better commercially than the winner does. I'm so glad that Susan was one of these who became wildly successful.

    The song itself makes me cry, but it was the perfect choice for someone who dreams to be a singer and she absolutely killed it!

    the extra sad thing is, yes it is an incredibly beautiful song, but she picked this song and those lyrics for a reason.
    "but there are dreams which cannot be, and there are storms we cannot weather. i had a dream my life would be, so different from this hell I'm living. so different now from what it seems. now life has killed the dream i dreamed."

    Keeping in mind that a British Audience is usually very quiet and reserved, that they got to their feet is amazing! But yes, they were judging her on her appearance; then she sang and they stood and applauded. A Complete honor and What an Amazing voice! After a lifetime of taking care of her parents, her dreams came true.

    Elaine Paige is a Broadway star most known for playing the old and mangy cat, Grizabella, in the musical Cats.
    Here she is singing the hit song, Memory:

      Not just Broadway, Elaine is English and is better known across the pond than she is in the USA. She is more a stage performer than a recording artist, which is perhaps why you don't hear her on the radio. This is not unusual for a big musical artist to be better known in Europe than in the USA.
      One of the most successful and prolific singers is someone else you probably never heard of, a Greek lady with a golden voice named Nana Mouskouri. She has recorded over 200 albums in at least thirteen languages.

  • @Fadamor
    @Fadamor 12 днів тому

    She was wildly successful even though she was only the runner up in BGT that year. She got a recording deal and earned £5 million in her first year. Sadly, she's retired after announcing in 2023 that she had suffered a stroke the previous year. She DID get to perform onstage with Elaine Paige - her idol.
    The song is from the musical "Les Miserable".

    Susan Boyle is the kind of artist i appreciate and gladly support. She doesn't carry herself like some stuck up obnoxious diva so filled with herself and her accomplishments. I detest such an attitude and it shuts me off to their music and to purchasing their music. Susan had remained a humble and grateful person for her career and dir her fans. She is not arrongant, trashy, obnoxious, vulgar, rude, or filled with entitlement like far TOO MANY singers. She's unique and as far as I'm concerned better than most other artists out there. Susan has character, integrity, compassion, grace, and a beautiful voice whose time finally same. Simon did right by her. Since her appearance, talent shows changed, and people now expect greatness from seemingly unlikely artists. That's the power of Susan.
