If this was a year ago we were living above Bar Zona on the west side of the plaza at the time. Moved to privada La Paz, still within walking distance but much quieter and less dusty!❤️

The church and the town are named after San Antonio de Padua,(the patron saint of the town).greetings from S. California.

Looking at random videos and noticed something crazy. My aunt owned the property where the brown metal gate to the left of the first frame is at now. My aunt I believe purchased in 84 and built a small house for my grandma to live in. When my grandma passed away, my aunt sold the home and property to her younger brother who then sold it to who knows who...
The house in green to the left next to it, my uncle Eduardo bought I believe in the 70's. He passed away young and left it to my aunt Celia who still lives there.
Still in the first frame, the brown two story home with black garage after the the yellow home in the right lives my aunt Hilaria. Still there since the 70's. those three homes I believe were some of the first built on that block.

If we wanted to live there without a vehicle, how would we get big stuff home or go to Costco in Guadalajara, for example?

You can live here without a car. If you make a big grocery run you can take a taxi home. If you need to go to Guadalajara you can take a bus or rent a car or hire a car and driver for the day. Lots of options for you
A guy make a weekly trip to Costco. He takes orders and delivers your purchases to your home

Indeed, having a car is a convenience, but I don't know that it is enough of a convenience to warrant the additional cost. You can do very well in this area without a car. public transportation is good here. Now, we do have a car, but we intend to travel Mexico quite a bit. From that perspective, it is useful. Still, for daily needs, We can and do walk to get most of what we need. We're living in Riberas del Pilar and do walk to Chapala occasionally.
