make sure you don't let him jump! especially off furniture. dachshunds are very prone to back injuries so you need to be very careful! what a cutie

Your life has been changed forever.. in one of the best ways possible... I got my dog for my 24th Birthday and she is now 10 😱, i can't imagine life without her. Dogs are the greatest! 💖

I know you will be getting a billion opinions from people BUT a great tip I can give you as a dog trainer is to understand a bit about 'extinction bursts'. Winston will cry at night because he misses his littermates & bitch but if you can ignore the whines/crys, within only a few days that behaviour will becomes extinct as he realises whining/crying isn't doing anything for his survival & is taking too much of his energy. Whining/crying will continue forever if you keep going to him and trying to sooth him as this will teach him 'every time I cry, Georgia comes and gives me attention'. Dogs learn everything in patterns!

at night if he keeps whining play some soft music or the radio so he thinks someone is right there! it worked a treat when I got my dog. I’m so excited for you, Winnie is the cutest ❤️

Hey Georgia! Congrats on Winny. He is so adorable 💛 I bought home my little pup 3 weeks ago and wow it is a whirlwind! That crate gets easier to assemble, lol be careful not to pinch your fingers every time. I’m currently going through puppy school and the trainer swears against plush toys for pups (what?!) as the stuffing comes out from the seams and when swallowed can swell up in their intestines. So just monitor his toys for any super destructive chewing 😁 Good luck and get ready to really test your patience! Also, try and avoid google, it is so conflicting for new puppy mums and can really overwhelm 💖 lots of love!

I bought a carrier too! Mine opens from the top as well as from the front. I think it's a great idea. I'm planning on making her sleep next to my bed in it the first few weeks so that she feels safe.

I don’t know if this will be the same for Winston but my pup got an upset stomach from just dry kibble, I would recommend soaking his kibble in some water if that happens ☺️ such a cutieeee !

You’ve done everything right, crate training is the best. I got a dachshund last year and as much as I wanted him to sleep in my bed with me cause of how much he cried it was so worth it! The crying last amount 3 months but they are so worth it, best dogs in the whole wide world. I can see already you will be wanting another one in no time
