NOT ON us DEPLOYING BIG LAND FORCES TO CENTRAL EUROPE to prop up dubious "allies" like France and Germany who've been defence-freeloading for decades!
These are not new weapons. Nor are they meant to be used against a heavily defended carrier group. They are free fall bombs fitted with a JDAM kit and Quicksink seeker and dropped from a B2. Their intended use is to stop masses of ships and kit. Such as those that China might throw at Taiwan. Blowing up cheap ships with very expensive missiles is not a great idea. Think cheap bomb (like WW2) fitted with small wings and GPS and a seeker that can lock onto a ship. You have to be pretty close. Hence the stealth bomber. In the list of threats that carriers face this is pretty low down. Think instead of stealth cruise missiles or hypersonic ship missiles. The DF21 is usually armed with a nuclear warhead to try and make up for the fact it will probably land in the vincity somewhere.
Not only don't you have as many ships, but you don't have the crews to man them. A Western problem with nations failing to reach forecast recruitment numbers for several years in a row. Add to that the modern retention problem and you have real problems. Lack of expertise as well as follow-up crew to man them. Britain will realise this soon that unless it moves away from the aggressive US military stance to a more diplomatic one, it will be faced with huge problems. Time that Britain cast it's own future rather than being lapdog to the US..
The complacency of fools lead to death. How on earth has successive UK governments allowed this dire situation to develope? They must have listened to the global elite without stopping their ears.
It's a europe wide issue. This immingration crap is happening everywhere. Instead of the corrupt EU demanding everyone take their share of these undesirables, there should be a united effort to repell boarders and stop them entering europe at all. Take Poland and Hungary as an example.
As an American I'm calling for my country to leave NATO altogether. Every new member is a dependent child that only presents liabilities. Europe should've been able to protect itself by now, some 80 years post WWII. We don't like it when Russian ships are in Cuba, I reckon Putin has a point not wanting NATO on his doorstep too.
The US Navy uses British destroyers to guard their carriers. Anything they claim to have done will have been studied and appropriate responses formulated by operational research groups a decade ago.
@@veryhappychappy12 I contributed to the initial design studies on several Royal Navy surface to air missiles, I watched the OR teams at work, I had access to the results of their effectiveness studies. Royal Navy destroyers frequently join US Navy carrier groups.
Look the patriotic people in this country already know we need a better funded military. You don’t need to use fear mongering tactics on the population
A country with a small budget shouldn't have aircraft carriers. Expensive defense of the Falklands maybe but otherwise does Britain want to project force away from our shores? We've lost a lot of little ships for these prestige carriers.
A bomb by its nature is a free-fall weapon rather than a missile which is self powered. So I would assume the critical factor here is how the "bomb" is delivered to the target. A bomb in free fall, unless dropped from space cannot glide over 150+ miles which is the range at which escorting ships can detect and take measures to engage any aerial threats.
One of the greatest realistic threats we could face is that of conventional and nuclear intercontinental ballistic and hypersonic missiles being fired from submarines or ships in the Atlantic Ocean. We have some of the best RADAR infrastructure in the world to detect these threats but have zero missiles capable of intercepting them. That seems to be a considerable oversight.

In the list of threats that carriers face this is pretty low down. Think instead of stealth cruise missiles or hypersonic ship missiles. The DF21 is usually armed with a nuclear warhead to try and make up for the fact it will probably land in the vincity somewhere.
Our curent operational navel power is 3 men and a rowing boat.......and ones a trans
Don't worry, one of them has a dog.
Sailing the sea cant protect are seashore what maritime protection of the invasion into England Scotland wales Ireland
What sort of name is 'Chip' for a British man? Sounds more like a Yank name.
If going to war you need to have a proud working class who respect the government, things have never been worse in that regard
No we don't need to support Ukraine we need to support our own first !
The complacency of fools lead to death. How on earth has successive UK governments allowed this dire situation to develope? They must have listened to the global elite without stopping their ears.
Couldn't GBN get an ex-naval officer to comment?
no matter the situation, the answer is ALWAYS more money
Two aircraft carriers and not enough British aircraft to man the ships. Pathetic.
why is a general talking about naval affairs? IT'S NONE OF HIS BUSINESS
We have no army so f
Global Britain waves the rules
I blame the French for not stopping the boats reaching Great Britain
It's a europe wide issue. This immingration crap is happening everywhere. Instead of the corrupt EU demanding everyone take their share of these undesirables, there should be a united effort to repell boarders and stop them entering europe at all. Take Poland and Hungary as an example.
As an American I'm calling for my country to leave NATO altogether. Every new member is a dependent child that only presents liabilities. Europe should've been able to protect itself by now, some 80 years post WWII. We don't like it when Russian ships are in Cuba, I reckon Putin has a point not wanting NATO on his doorstep too.
I magine in 1939 people near to Dover saw hundreds of young Germans coming ashore "looking for a better life " what would we have done?
Peace and goodwill to all. 🕊 🕊 🕊
I wouldn't be concerned about foreign powers weakening our navy. Our own politicians have done that quiet comprehensively over the last 60yrs or so.
We have always been short of escorts. Two aircraft carries mean this is essential. They can't operate without escorts..
We got your back, y'all.
Sorry for the mess.
😘🇺🇲🇬🇧🇺🇸
You been sending weapons to nasssiiieegermany as they've taken north,Ireland.
You OK?
Haha! I love how they cut it off when the presenter clearly didn't get the SAS joke. 😂
Yes , we’re fucked
The US Navy uses British destroyers to guard their carriers. Anything they claim to have done will have been studied and appropriate responses formulated by operational research groups a decade ago.
Really? Which destroyers are those then? Most are still alongside in Pompey being 'repaired'.
@@veryhappychappy12 I contributed to the initial design studies on several Royal Navy surface to air missiles, I watched the OR teams at work, I had access to the results of their effectiveness studies. And you?
"Duncan joined the USS Wasp's task group in early July, operating as the sole escort providing defence for US Amphibious Squadron 4."
Royal Navy destroyers frequently join US Navy carrier groups.
Look the patriotic people in this country already know we need a better funded military. You don’t need to use fear mongering tactics on the population
🇬🇧 Well said, Major! 🫡
Ask a Senior officer of the British Armed forces get a long winded word salad.
And the service men and woman to man these ships are coming from????
The entire world.
@@allybally0021 Or worse, the French. Yes that might be the thing, armed forces fighting the populations not other armed forces.
@@malfunction8165 The French? That's going too far!
A country with a small budget shouldn't have aircraft carriers. Expensive defense of the Falklands maybe but otherwise does Britain want to project force away from our shores? We've lost a lot of little ships for these prestige carriers.
Houthis..... hold my beer! 😂😂😂😂😂
This guy is smart, he recognizes what is England's national interests and they need to expand the Navy and the RAF by probably a factor of five.
Could our naval power get any weaker🤔
A bomb by its nature is a free-fall weapon rather than a missile which is self powered. So I would assume the critical factor here is how the "bomb" is delivered to the target. A bomb in free fall, unless dropped from space cannot glide over 150+ miles which is the range at which escorting ships can detect and take measures to engage any aerial threats.
3T economy .. we should compare our military strength to other 3T economies and question why our military strength is not equal to theirs if it isn't.
What did he mean when he said he knew five thousand people who were on the balcony of the Iranian embassy (during the siege) ?
What actually do these carriers do apart from going backwards & forwards from Portsmouth to Scotland !! & have actually got any aircraft Togo on them
A very strange line of questioning, How on earth do you see an Allies advancement as a threat to yourself ? Unless you intend on abandoning that Allie
A navy is supposed to combat threats at/from sea. Theyndont. What is thenpoinof a British navy when you're being invaded so clearly? ❤😢
The UK is weakened because like us your Navy has been under resourced and under staffed. Also, needs to be procurement reform in both countries.
Thankfully the us is our ally 🤷🏻♂️
And the forces are incapable of defending our coast like now !
