It's nice to see Cathay become more active again in the skies. I hope that they'll be able to catch up with the gulf carriers. It's also nice to see another Asian carrier in your review catalogue. Glad to see after a long while.
I am so glad I flew Cathay. They’re a very affordable alternative from Dubai vs the big Gulf carriers. I avoided them during Covid but I should fly them more often! More Asian airlines coming up, such as Malaysian 😉

Well, approaches from runway 30RL might get interesting after you realize that there are some people stuck on the road in the hustle and bustle of this city. I was just stuck in a traffic jam yesterday while going to Sharjah with E311, trust me it was amazing to see International planes land like an A330 from Aeroflot!
Aeroflot is back big during the winter season! I want to fly them but it is so hard to get the visa and I’ll have a lot of explaining to do in various countries, so don’t know if it is worth the risk.. And yeah, the good old 311 😂 But I never get stuck as I live on the opposite side so during rush hours I go the other way!
I had the same experience last week.Cathay Pacific really pampered their top tier guests & definitely one of the best First Class lounges in the world.Manage to book their most coveted Cabanas on both my transit in HKG.But imho The Pier First Class Lounge near gate 63 much much better in terms of services offered.Very personalised services & trust me it was 100% different ambience for this both first class lounge.Btw i love all your trip reports & keep on posting the best one!
Brilliant as usual. I only ever flew CP once and thought they were excellent (HKG to LAX). Your triple seat bed reminded me of red-eye US flights Mid-West to West or vice-versa, where the AA crew often insisted I go towards the back of the plane where there were empty rows and basically made me a bed. Some AA crew were fantastic and others........well, no comment. Thanks for the memories 👍

I had an unpleasant experience flying with CX when we went to London using a B777 due to a system glitch that they won't take accountability. Thanks for this video because it gave me an idea that A350 must be the better plane when choosing a flight with CX. I love the detailed information you put in the different segments of the video!

I’ve worked in an office but I slowly start getting sad if I don’t fly enough so I ensured it won’t happen again. It’s important to be happy. I collect toiletry bags and business/first class airline branded glasses. So nice you collect too! I use to collect boarding passes but the ink fades away quick. I wish you happy flights!!

I flew it's A350-900 B-LRB twice from HKG-CDG/CDG-HKG on 2019 , personally I didn't like the seat because it was too hard for me, but so far the IFE, meal, service was awesome.

Cathay is one of the ones with longest history in Dubai..! Flights to Mumbai, also Bahrain if I remember well.. And all the flights that used it as a fuel stop. Enjoy the nostalgia and see you around my friend!
The Wing lounge is really good, but I suggest if you have more time you can go to gate 62/64 area to the pier first class lounge. Personally I feel like that lounge is superior in terms of food and decor compared to the Wing. However the only problem is that HK airport only has one directional people movers. So if you decide to go the the Pier and you gate is 1-15 ish would be a trek back.
I later realized that my gate was right next to the Pier, I think I departed from either one of those gates. Silly me! But a reason to return next time!

The empty row the purser saved for me, how nice! She told me to go there. But there were a few. Usually I ask ground staff before boarding if there are any empty seats left.

I've always thought the demise of CX's on-board quality has been overstated. Yes they were financially bleeding but it has hardly been evident on the passenger side, aside from flight reductions.
Wow that was some lounge experience, how long were you there for. Cathay looks like they are bringing back the golden age of aviation with amenity bags for frequent fliers and printed menus in economy.

Hey there and welcome to the club! I do think Emirates is spectacular.. Lots of airlines are great but Emirates is just special. I trust that when they retrofit the older B777’s and receive the A350’s they’ll officially be the worlds best again!
The extra legroom I can select for free as a Oneworld Emerald member, and she invited me to the other row because it was empty and I would be able to lay down and sleep. So it’s a nice gesture!
Do you know how IFE controls work when sitting in bulkhead seats? The screen is too far away for touch controls. I've read that the seats are so thin, you feel everything put into the seat pocket from the person behind you, is this true?

You should do a review on Southwest Airlines they are the best US LCC I’m not going to spoil it for u but try them they’re amazing.😅 Also do a review of JetBlue😜
On a flight to Toronto I stupidly left my Kindle in the seat pocket, I never had it returned to me. On another flight to the UK from Canada I left a bottle of perfume in the overhead locker, again I never got that back. On both occasions I contacted the airlines but nothing ever came of my enquires about my losses.
Strongly recommend trying out China Airlines. I think currently they are the best in Asia including their lounge. Cathay is great but I feel they have yet to reach their pre Covid glory.
A very nice video indeed reminds me of the stories my father used to tell about the DXB-BOM-HKK route he used to fly from DXB-BOM though at that time this was a pinnacle of luxury the economy class in Cathay Pacific

Have travelled in Cathay from Vancouver to HKG. It was a very bad experience mainly due to the cabin crew. Cathays standard has dropped a lot. The same with the previous Dragon Air.
They went through a very hard time in the past years and the crew suffered a lot, I was told some tough stories. But yes, no need to pay that with customers. I hope it was a one off experience. I found everyone beyond great to me and loved it. I hope it’s the same for you next time!

I travelled in Malaysia Airlines a few days back. Their pilots happened to be the most detailed I’ve ever heard on the PA

I've always thought the demise of CX's on-board quality has been overstated. Yes they were financially bleeding but it has hardly been evident on the passenger side, aside from flight reductions.
Wow that was some lounge experience, how long were you there for. Cathay looks like they are bringing back the golden age of aviation with amenity bags for frequent fliers and printed menus in economy.

I do think Emirates is spectacular.. Lots of airlines are great but Emirates is just special. I trust that when they retrofit the older B777’s and receive the A350’s they’ll officially be the worlds best again!

Airbus by a mile! Far wider seats in economy, always. Specially on the A350 and A380. It makes a big difference.
I always fel safer in a airbus, dont know why.

The extra legroom I can select for free as a Oneworld Emerald member, and she invited me to the other row because it was empty and I would be able to lay down and sleep. So it’s a nice gesture!

great trip report once again, did you notice that engine scraping on the engine lining on the a350 as you walked into the plane?
Do you know how IFE controls work when sitting in bulkhead seats? The screen is too far away for touch controls.
I've read that the seats are so thin, you feel everything put into the seat pocket from the person behind you, is this true?

@odzergaming you are correct on that and if you asked Taiwanese and Hong kongers about 國泰航空🇭🇰 vs 菲律賓航空🇵🇭 A359s/A35K it comes down to this you want a wider seat great food CX B-LRx B-LQx B-LXx if you want something like Filipino cuisine at the cost of cramped seats PR RP-C3501-RP-C3508 and future 3509 fleets.
I hope that Cathay will fly to Istanbul since Turkiye is now become a favorite tourist destination.
Probably won’t happen because there arent any transit demand for someone from Istanbul because Turkish airlines is so big

On a flight to Toronto I stupidly left my Kindle in the seat pocket, I never had it returned to me. On another flight to the UK from Canada I left a bottle of perfume in the overhead locker, again I never got that back. On both occasions I contacted the airlines but nothing ever came of my enquires about my losses.

Strongly recommend trying out China Airlines. I think currently they are the best in Asia including their lounge. Cathay is great but I feel they have yet to reach their pre Covid glory.

A very nice video indeed reminds me of the stories my father used to tell about the DXB-BOM-HKK route he used to fly from DXB-BOM though at that time this was a pinnacle of luxury the economy class in Cathay Pacific

Have travelled in Cathay from Vancouver to HKG. It was a very bad experience mainly due to the cabin crew. Cathays standard has dropped a lot. The same with the previous Dragon Air.
They went through a very hard time in the past years and the crew suffered a lot, I was told some tough stories. But yes, no need to pay that with customers. I hope it was a one off experience.
I found everyone beyond great to me and loved it. I hope it’s the same for you next time!
