I'm a believer, anything DIY Detail puts out I'm trying to get. Great products and videos to learn from. Already ceramic coated with the stack and all the products from start to finish. Now this is what I was looking to do next.
Right on
Great video, I’ve had that want to see something like that from you guys for a while now. So many answers in one simple video! Thanks a million!!
Glad it was helpful!
How cool, been waiting for this. Can’t wait to try.
Hope you like it!
This looks amazing for my trucks running boards! Can’t wait to order
Hope you enjoy it!
Love that the lineup is Growing! Still waiting for the wax to come out. 🙂
Thank you.
Ive been using your competitor's product and yes..its great.
Great to hear!
Excellent looking commodity which I will need to add to my arsenal.
Thank you.
Excellent!!! I can’t wait to see more.
Thank you.
As a 2018 Subaru Outback owner I appreciate this new product.
Thank you.
Great video! This looks like a great product and I can’t wait to try it!!
Thank you.
Oh amazing this is coming. I was just thinking that I need to do something with the plastic on my jeep.
Great candidate
The standard is the standard!! Diy Detail keeps raising the bar!! Looks great!
Thank you.
That is super interesting because I was wondering a while back if if were possible to integrate dyes into ceramic coatings. This has potential to morph into something else entirely. Imagine fixing faded wraps, or extending their lifespan with this technology.
It needs to be a very porous surface to function
@@diydetailofficial do you mean for the dye/tint to work?
Correct
Happy new start to this new DIY Detail Product!!! 🎉 Would this work on some older vehicles’ plastic that aren’t only faded but also have a little bit of a “wavy” faded pattern?
Yes
Looking forward to putting it on my new vehicle 😉💪🏼💪🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hope you enjoy it!
Honda owners are going to love this.
Yes!
Finally the trim restorer👍🏼👌💪
Thanks
I love when Yvan unveil a New product 😍
@@loic4691 but of course!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
So it looks like you were able to combine the outstanding features of Solution Finish and Vonixx V-Plastic into one product! I will give it a try!
Thank you.
It would be helpful to see footage of the finished/dried/leveled surface and also to see how it compares next to untreated trim. Can't see the entire trim due to the Play Next card.
I’ll post pictures in our Facebook group

@@diydetailofficial thank you!
Any chance you guys will start shipping to Canada anytime soon? Would like to get a rinseless wash and sponge setup and would rather go with what you guys offer over the other brands.
Yes we do, we have distributors in Canada
Https://diydetail.com/pages/distributors
Great video as always. Also, wouldn't one of your DIY Detail ceramic 3 of 5 year coatings have worked for this plastic application?
They will slightly darken and protect, but definitely not restore.
gotta order this with diy v2 rinseless
Thank you.
Wow surprise product. can you please do a video on how to apply if you don't have access to a machine polisher?
Here you go
How to restore and protect car plastic

Will it be slick on running boards? Cannot wait to get this!
That's what I want to know as well.
Yes
@@diydetailofficial Thank you
My wife got some road paint on her trim that has been a beast to clean off. I got most of it but there’s still specks here and there that I can’t get. Will the dye in this cover that white road paint?
Unfortunately not
So I've got two 2012 BMW X5 diesels (with fairly prominent plastic rocker panels and fender flares) that spent their first 5-6 years in the Texas sun. I don't think they were ever properly detailed or protected before I owned them, just the typical car wash scratch pass treatment.
I've restored and maintained them as needed with Solution Finish and Over the Top sealant, which I have been happy with, but it requires at least two steps.
How does this product compare, and what happens when the trim inevitably starts to fade again? Can it be reapplied with the same prep steps as shown here? How long would it last on a garage kept car that is washed properly by hand?
I really enjoy these vehicles, have put a lot of work into them and plan to keep them for a very long time, as I'm just not a fan of most new vehicles these days. Where else are you going to find a diesel SUV (that drives like a tall/heavy sports car) these days?
With DIY Detail Plastic Restore & Protect you will get much longer durability, and it can be re-applied to itself if needed
Nice. I had always this thought that we shouldn't polish plastic parts but now i understand i was wrong. Which part actually shouldn't we polish?
With many polishes, you do not want to polish plastic parts. With ours it’s designed to do so.
Looks like an ideal product for faded trim. Any advice in terms of the prep if you don't have a machine polisher? Cheers, Yvan 👍
I would use a Scrub Ninja or a small hrush and some polish maybe. Or just use an APC at 15:1 and the Scrub Ninja or both.
Using our DIY Detail All Clean on a short nap MF
What’s the quoted protection timeline on this trim restorer? Is it similar to BLCK or Cerakote trim wipes?
Easily one year or more
Can we use this for black door panels (or anything in the interior) ?
Yes
Awesome, For how long is it expected to protect? Months to a Year?
Thanks!
A year
Can you add the 3 year, 5 year, or 8 year coating on top to extend the protection?
Yes, after 12 hours, but it’s really not needed
nice product. would have liked to see a before and after comparison
Look at the trim beside it
Can you stack protection on the restored trim? I.e. after applying this and giving it ample cure time, could it be topped off with one of the other ceramic coatings that you offer?
Yes, 12 hours
About how long would a bottle last after it’s been opened?
A year
Dying to get some Gold Standard Polish. When is it going to be back in stock?
Autoforge has it in stock
For us, June 10th, many of our distributors have it on hand.
I am getting a new vehicle soon and I ordered the DIY 5 year coating. Would you recommend I use the 5 year coating to protect the trim or this new trim restore and protect? Thank you!
For a new vehicle, simply use the same coating as the paint
I would think yes in my opinion. The trim is new and doesn't need to be restored. I would prep it like Yvan did with APC and panel prep before coating with the DIY 5 year. Have fun coating your new vehicle!
@@diydetailofficial thank you
@@chrisdenman1985 thank you
I had a few drops of brake fluid hit the black plastic mirrors on my Jeep, leaving very light grey spots. Will the dye in this cover the grey spots?
It will help
Just purchased another brand but would like to try DIY ? Does this absorb into GM hard plastic used on lower trim on Equinox?
Yes it does
Hello DIY Detail I am 14 and starting my own car detailing buisness i've been looking into rinceless washing for a quicker wash on detail's .I have a question like when you pre spray with a sprayer or keg sprayer it is efficent . But I wanted to no if I put it rincewash in a foam cannon turn the nob so mostly water comes out and pre soak/spray it that way then come with the wash sponge and start washing. Would that be a efficent method.
Unfortunately not, look at options that don’t require a pressure washer. I started when I was 12, and had I had access to Rinseless Wash I would have been enthusiastically using
Does it remove light scratch marks (some white lines on the plastic) or does the trim have to be polished in that case?
Best to polish
How does heat, humidity levels and sunlight effect this process or peoduct? Asking as a mobile detailer. No shop.
You will have to work a little faster.
Can you use the gold standard polish by hand on the trim if I don’t have a polisher
Yes
Good deal, I’m going to order the trim coat and polish. I tried the cerakote trim and I wasn’t impressed. How you u recommend to redo my trim with the diy trim coat since mine has a coating on it already
Can this be sprayed? Some cars have grill on the brake duct/grill
Please never spray any ceramic coating
I have grey plastics on my 2004 jeep, what do you suggest?
Solution finish grey
Will this work on the shiny black window trim on my Mercedes? It’s has started to dull and spotting is occurring?
It will help, but it’s designed primarily for raw plastic
Restored and Protected "For a Long Time" just Curious... How Long? I been Using Solution Finish for 3/4 YEARS now (By Chris West) and my Wife's 2018 FORD Edge has the Lower Molding Restored All Around the Car with it (Solution Finish) for Nearly 2 Full Years, and is just now needing to be Re Applied. How Long does this Last Ivan? Looke Nice, I like the Matt Finish. This has to be GOOD!!! The Solution Finish Is Worth a Try I think. The Price is Right. I just watch TWO Detailing Channel's right, (I just signed up for the DIY) This and AMMO, so far seem to be the Most Informative, and Larry has Over 2.3 MILLION Viewers I believe. Great Content here, I like it.
SF is a great product, DIY Detail Plastic Restore & Protect adds ceramic to the mix for longer durability
One more question, is it possible to remove old ceramic coat from trim so i can apply a new coat?
Polishing is required
Any major differences between this product and solution finish? Thanks
Yes, ceramic protection is built into DIY Detail Plastic Restore & Protect
@@diydetailofficial Thanks. Can you also coat over this product once dried/cured with another of your ceramic coatings? Or would that be unnecessary/problematic?
@@diydetailofficiallongevity claim? Solution finish and over the top work well on trim, but the negative from experience is multiple coats required… which is where your product may be worth the added cost if it can maintain the appearance as well as SF/OTT…. Any plans for a comparison video between the two products?
Can the waffle and gold standard be used on ppf?
Yes
Let’s go!!!
Thank you.
Any cure time for driving in the elements?
1 hour
Can this be used on gloss black interior panels?
No
will the scrap microfiber be provided with the bottle? also, i wished we would've seen a half and half before and after
Cut one of your old microfiber towels into small squares.
Those rolls of microfibre rags would be perfect of this
Yes the scrap microfiber is included along with a bottle of champagne.
No we do not include a MF scrap with it.
Some consideration has gone into this trim restorer. I think this one will do well. A ceramic trim product with black dye. Ive use a none ceramic with black dye before but it never lasted because it didn't have a ceramic element to it. Kudos to DIY. I never knew you could use the gold standard polish on plastic trim!! Thats something ive not considered before. I guess its by design. Speaking of polish on black trim, Yvan, what is good for removing a substandard polish from black trim that seems to be ingrained? Ive tried IPA, strong car soap- concentrated, APC. Nothing seems to shift the white mark. Any suggestions? Other than I should have used the gold standard polish haha 😅
DIY Detail Gold Standard Polish will help remove other polishes from trim.
@diydetailofficial How does that even work? Best get me a bottle then 🫡
DIY Detail Gold Standard Polish cleans the old polish off the surface.
Would painter's foam brush work?
No, that would waste a lot of product
No pressure or some pressure in the last step? Thanks Yvan.
No pressure
@@diydetailofficial Thanks a lot
Good to get wet and into the weather After you wipe it off?
One hour
Can this be applied on top of my 3 year coating on my plastic trim?
Yes, but there should be no need
No because the coating is doing it's job of protecting the surface so it will have to be removed so the restorer dye and properties can adhere to the plastic. Yvan did that with the polisher, APC, and panel prep. I've seen a video where Yvan said not to coat old plastic trim because it will continue to oxidize under the coating and you now cannot restore it because of the coating.
Can we use a sponge to apply it..?
No, that would use too much product
How many cars should you be able to get through with a bottle?
It depends on the amount of trim. I did that wheel arch with 2 drops
This is only for black - colored plastic trim yes?
Yes
Whats the difference between this and the 3 year graphene? Doesnt the 3 year also work on plastics?
Yes but this is designed for plastics. Yvan said it has a formulation that has black dye and whetting properties that work to restore the plastic and protect it from future oxidation.
The DIY Detail 3 year coating is great protection. DIY Detail Plastic Restore & Protect also restores and dyes faded plastic
@@diydetailofficial Thanks for the reply. Is it possible then to remove an old ceramic from plastics so i can use the diy one?
Couple of question:
1. Average durability on a daily driver that sleeps in a garage and lives in NC?
2. Can I reapply with the same product after durability has passed and not see the pores sealed but the plastic oxydized?
3. Shelf life of open bottle?
1years
2 yes
3 a year or more
@@diydetailofficial love it, thanks!!! Will get mine
Does the black dye mean only black trim?
Yes
What I would like to see is dye for the tires not for trim, there’s tons of product for trim. I really want to see permanent dressing that is really 100% dry to the touch like
Stay tuned
Can you do this process on an older Subaru...they are notorious for having horribly faded trim.....and what is expected life of coating? :) thx
Yes, durability is dependent on prep and after care, but expect well over a year
@@diydetailofficial impressive !!
Me scrolling through UA-cam shorts: man I really need to go to bed
Also me: hey look, a new DIY video just dropped!!!
I’ve been using solution finish for a long time, really excited to give this a try at some point!
😜😜that's exactly what I use too.
Thank you.
The internet is going to explode. Polishing trim? Noone will like to hear that. All the experts will argue 😂😂❤
Let them argue while DIY Detail customers are getting great results.
@diydetailofficial I can't wait to try it. What is the expected longevity? I have a transit connect van with some black trim, but the fender flairs are that dark dark gray almost black. Would this with the dye just help them go all the way black which would be my preference anyway, or would it go spotty/streaky? Super curious. I read another comment you suggested gray solution finish. Will you make a gray as well though? 🤙🏁
@@kirkwilson5900I’m wondering same thing.
Hi Yvan. In your experience, what percentage of your wash, clay, seal clients would request an exterior trim dressing to be done also? I want to find out if wealthy clients tend to value it or not.
2-3%
@@diydetailofficial Thank you!
I have one complaint...your stuff is ridiculously out of stock...i know you changed warehousing recently to alleiviate this but your ceramic kits and waffle pads are out of stock. Like always out of stock.. i have one battered waffle pad (5.5") i need more. You are just too successful... this looks great, are you going to do a rubber restore product?
We are not happy about the situation, we are growing faster than our current suppliers can keep up with. Yes we have many more products on the way.
Just a tip (what I did): I ordered whatever that was available on their website and then ordered the rest from Autoforge (also with 15% off). Apparently, they have different availability.
You just need to pay 2 shipping costs, or both orders should be above the free shipping limits (I managed to do that).
How is this better than old school Back to Black?
It has better whetting ability, and will last years instead of months
@@diydetailofficial thanks
If the panels were treated with solution finish before, do we need to do the same steps for prep or just need the panel prep?
Does the product "seal" the plastic's pores?
Congrats on the new product!
It’s best to follow all the steps
@@diydetailofficial perfect!
Never seen a detailer polish trim on purpose lol
When your polish is designed for it, makes detailing easier.
Would have loved to see a REAL FADED piece of black plastic, not something that looks basically new
The camera made it look better than it was
I was waiting for a before and after comparison. Too many products for preparation. Looks like a big sales pitch.
Prep, with any trim restorer is the key to success.,
Getting color out & black dye??? Another quite how that works. Pick one or the other.
I don’t understand your question?
First!!!!!
Thank you
Im sold. Just ordered.... I REALLY wish u guys would get a Paypal option. Its a little silly that u guys dont have that smh.
Good suggestion
