Apologies for the language, Dave. Always enjoy racing you - I had a shitty day of racing with a 100% getting wrecked rate and overreacted a bit. While the send maybe was a bit ambitious I think it was still fine, I should have covered earlier - definitely did not warrant my language/reaction. My apologies, see you on track next time 😊

It was a ballsy move and an optimistic dive for sure on Dave's part but I think he executed to as cleanly as possible. A bit of an early turn on your part last corner but overall some great door to door racing. Enjoy the content you both put out look forward to more good racing.
Had a similar day myself. Daytona is a complete mess. Got wrecked out of the lead in 2 of the 3 races I did. The 3rd race I was crashed out in lap 3 and had 51 minutes of damage. Packed it all up after that and decided I was done for the day. Just a really frustrating day.

I'm happy to see iRacing is back on the menu. Definitely my favorite content on the channel. ACC has it's moments, but drivers are so much more filthy over there than I ever run into in iRacing.

Nice to see you and Dan hug it out... I think Dan just had an overall lackluster race and ended with Captain Dave showing him his door. Lol!! Good fun to watch that one unfold.
And the guy in the white #13 just made a poor judgement, imo. Dave you were sat in the middle of the track (which is perfectly fine to me as you weren't moving around) and he just chose the wrong side. Would've been nice if he would have apologized right after it happened, or after the race... Glad iRacing is back in focus! Thanks for the content!

Some of the tracks are really outdated
From my POV, I think #13 kill was intentional, retaliating the previous hit in the variante alta, but mistaking the "offender".
First one wasn't intentional, he just tried to go in a narrow space in a last minute and lost the balance a little bit.
Last overtake was a bit optimistic, but i would've done the same. Last corner contact was a bit of netcode, no?
There was nothing to gain on the right side. It was bad driving while knowing it would end fatal for Dave.
cracking race dave loved every minute. didnt think any moves were really out of order.
Well let me first say that i subscribe to both you and Dan. Love the content you both do. Looks to me like you both suffered early race incidents that left you both a bit salty. Unfortunately you both got pulled into each others orbit. Ive watched you both be clean and competitive drivers many times in the past and as a fan of both you guys i really enjoyed watching you battle it out. Very entertaining for me and i hope you both can put it behind you and agree that sometimes these things happen when frustration from what happened with another driver carries through to the last lap. Well done sirs. Keep up the great work. 🍻

Great to see iracing back!! but gotta say, I think I agree with Dan, the first bumping in the chicane was fine. But you just did the exact same thing you ranted about in ACC to him the following corner and bumped him out wide a little. rest of it was fair game contact in my opinion.
I disagree. It's more of a 'rub' than a hit and run. Exact the same as what happened to me when Neto passed me in T1. And no contact in the chicane 👍

Nowt wrong with that pass on Dan, Dave. Good ole elbows out, but fair. You left him room on the outside and he turned in a little and drew the short straw. 👍 we all know you and Dan are top quality, fair racers.

That first incident like you I'm struggling to judge, I think it was a "I'll pass you on the left. Nope nope you're opening on the right so I'll go there" and the track curves slightly at the crest where maybe it wasn't steered into enough? Looked like they went straight a little bit too far? Maybe?
That last corner with Dan looked like a turn in, maybe didn't see you or expect you there who knows but a little argy bargy

my hype for simracing is getting less because of school coming up and not having the time to do races anymore but, that wont stop me from enjoying your videos :)
I find it somewhat amusing, if you're angry enough at Jim and tell him to shut up, Crew Chief actually disables your spotter until you say you want to be informed again. Happened to me a few times close racing a friend and I don't need him distracting me.

Nice to see you wearing a Carlisle Utd home top. I’m having the lack of fortune watching Newcastle losing at Tranmere. Iracing is so good, the cars behave much more like cars to me. I know others have their favourites but the online is by miles still the best.

I think we all say things we don't mean in the heat of the moment.
People who are passionate about what they do sometimes lose their cool but it's usually all good in the end.
As for the white car I'm 50/50 on it.
He may have tried to go for a gap that wasn't really there or he may have given you a nudge it's hard to tell.
It's taken me 2 days to actually get round VIR Grand West without crashing and manage to get a lap time in.
Goodness only knows how I'll manage 90 minutes on Monday night! 😬

the white Porsche thing.. i think he just wanted to pick a side thinking you would keep the racing line on the brow of the hill.. but your solid defensive middle of the road line was fine & i think it just caught him out, missing that split second to decide.
he was catching up on a few previous corners & seemed quicker out of the exits..
he also slowed down after the incident with you, presumably to see if you were around to let back past but carried on once he saw you sideways maybe.
I'd give him the benefit if the doubt..
The Dan thing - even if he was wide enough on the 2nd corner you would prob have gone on the kerb his side on exit ;) but like you said, you were faster than him on a few bends & caught up well on the last lap or 2 so i think most would understand the decision to dive.. he probably trusted you as you were tailing him for a while and he knew you were not kamikaze.. you caught him out & he reacted well at 1st but just turned split sec to early.. the exit would've been tight whatever happened so the incident was 'the dive' for causing it all.. but its just a racing incident imo..
nothing malicious from any of the 3 drivers in the 2 main bumps highlighted.. Miles better than public lobbies :)
I also think this - he ran out of room, nowhere to go, Dave was driving very well defensively and the other car just got stuck.

Often times when people complain that they were taken out, it could go either way, but to me 13 took you out. Those side to side movements may have been his first attempt at nudging you, but not sure. When he eventually PITed you, he just drove through you and didn't even brake until after.
As for the Dan interaction, I saw his response above. Class!
To me, I thought your move into the Variante Alta chicane was way worse. The last two corners seem like more of racing incidences. You make a move to the inside and he turns in way early to squeeze you. Still, you both got through well. The last corner, it looks like he tuns in a little early again and you're still waiting to get to your turn in point. Just my opinion.

You’re a bit more forgiving than me there Dave. I would have protested thhat Porsche. But as far as the scenario with Dan, I say it was just high anxiety, good hard racing. And then things just happen. You and Dan both strive to be clean, fair drivers. I dont see any malice, I just see hard racing, and sometimes it can be stressful!;

When watching Dave’s mirror during the incident between T4 & T5, the guys car was plenty settled until the rear end brush. I saw malice of intent, personally, but maybe that is because I’ve seen so much of it, lately. He made very controlled attempts to get passed Dave and couldn’t make it happen. I think he was done with it and felt it was time to move on. I was actually expecting it while watching. But, that’s just an opinion, of course.
Looking at your overtake on Dan, it looked well executed. Just a shame it looked like he then turned into you. All in all great racing 🏁

I always look at it this way Dave….would you be happy with the exact move done on yourself! That’s how I work out if I was a bit over zealous or not

You got taken out early and the last lap was just great racing.
That move by the No. 13 probably wasn't planned. That does seem to be a little bit of an accident black spot where the overtaking car often goes a little too straight or the car being overtaken reduces the gap ever so slightly. It's happened to me at that point more than once. You really have to give the cars attempting an overtake there a lot of room to be sure.

I think you need to reboot Crew Chief in between qualifying and/or racing to keep the spotter working. It's a bug that needs fixing.

I would've reported the #13. He has a run and could've tried to get up the inside, instead he's looking for your rear corner. 100% intentional.
White Porsche got a better exit but was just indecisive as to which side to go, should have lifted and kept close as you were poor on the exit of Acque most laps.

Okay, one more quick pause before I return to the excitement of finishing the video. I'd be interested in either theories or a definitive answer on how it's possible that Dan is getting squirrely on corner exits, yet it still appears that he's pulling on Dave a little bit down the straights. If I get anything other than a near perfect exit off a turn, I end up watching the car in front of me disappear into the sunset. Is it just concertina effect making it look like Dan's getting a good drive off the corner despite getting slightly out of shape, or is he employing some sort of dark magic? 🤔

Something about Imola seems to promote terrible driving. I did a fixed cup race a couple of days ago and had similar issues. Got heavily sent at the kink where you got pit manoeuvred (had a very similar thing to you in GT4s there a few weeks ago too) and the rest of the field was like pinball too. It’s like people struggle to overtake and feel aggrieved they’re being held up because ‘I’m a higher iRating than you’ and so just basically punt people out of the way….
The white #13. He had the run and was going for the overtake, why do it on the right, when he knows the next two turns are to the left. With plenty of track to use on the left. My suspicions are confirmed as an intentionally poor judgement call on his part to choose the right side for a left hand overtake. And then to not turn into that slight curve as he should have considering the available space. As for Dan, no comment considering his gracious apology.
Last lap into that corner Dan should have been thinking a bit more defensively.....left it open for a late move and you got the car stopped in time for the corner

had an issue a couple of days ago where spotter just stopped working came back 2 days later ...no changes on my part🤔
With crew chief if you leave it open and running while not in a race for a while say 15 mins + it kinda goes funny and you only get half or less of messages or none at all so only thing that helped was a total restart of crew chief and then it goes back to normal.

Dan you turned in on Dave that last corner, it looked like you bumped Dave, there was room. The white car went to the outside left his braking late, and there was the pit . Still looked like a good hard race. At the beginning it looked like if you Dave didn't let that other car by he was going to kill you for sure.😎

The pass on Dan was in my opinion a little suspect, it didn’t appear your nose cleared his A-pillar before his turn in but it was close last lap racing and things tend too become a bit blurred , always enjoy Dave Cheers!

What about the #1 car that seemed like the dodgiest activity.
Dont think anyone was to blame tbh. seems lately that everyone in sim racing and viewing racing in general wants to blame someone for a bit of contact or a crash when its just a race incident, i know its different when it happens to you but sometimes theres no one majorly at fault and that its just a racing incident. its happened and im sure itll happen again but theres no point getting angry and trying to put a blame on something thats in the past. but even still if im involved in something like that ill always try to do the gentlemanly thing and apologize even if im not totally at fault.
Netcode is horrible in iRacing.
Not sure if its always been this way way or not .
But last night alone I had 3 times two races where I got tag with contact point hits.
Of course one I was made at the other driver because I gave him plenty of room.
the other two they slidein front of me and stopped.
I hit me brakes in time not touching them I thought.
I go back and watch the replays. The two I stop in time for is close but there was not contact cars.
The side hit on a straight about to go into a turn. The guy just rams and punts me of the track.
Watched the replay, his car was at least 2 feet from mine if not more.
He didn't touch me.
If they can code all these calculations on of time and where you are on the track and so much more.
Then:
1. They should easily code who's fault it is in the event of contact.
2. Just code the car box contact smaller. This one a super easy fix.

In my opinion, you turned in late. You just went to the apex because Dan pushed you. You could do the turn with Dan without touching. But hey, its racing.
If he didn't keep his foot in it he might have a defense to pitting you on purpose, but he kept his foot hard on the gas all the way through the incident. Not on.
