I worked at Lakeside 1968-1970 part time while in high school. We began in early Spring setting up and cleaning the park, then helped run rides until Fall, when we would break it all down for Winter storage. The Shooting Star was one of the rides I helped with, taking tickets and helping people into and out of the seats.
Nice job! This was one of the first wooden coasters I ever rode. I like how you included the two wooden "canopies" the ride went through. The 90° turn to the left had trim brakes that were definitely used, so the ending of the ride wasn't quite as fast as shown here. NBD though...this is a great recreation.
I was going off an early version before the trims were installed. From an early video I found of it, the last bunny hops were taken at a good speed. That's awesome that you got to ride it! It's such a shame it wasn't relocated.

At the the end of the original ride there was 3 sideways jerks before the final straightaway.
I "missed" the jerks at the end too....all these years later and how the hell do we remember three jerks!!!???
This is perfect! It is smoother than the actual Shooting Star, but otherwise perfect and I have a huge smile on my face. Thank you.

All that's cut is the lift hill, which is fairly boring and doesn't detract from the ride. Do you see something else missing?
@@RaptorAlex No, just that part. People like me who rode it remember the boring climb up. It's part of the experience and memory recall.
