My family would drive from Salisbury, NC each year and spend all day at Lakeside. I really miss that little amusement park. I still have a polaroid photo of me standing next to that lionhead water fountain that you saw at 3:13.
My Dad-David Greenway laid the railroad track for this park. His name was on the plank. One of my first photos was with him at this park. Went many times!
As a teen, our church sponsored a trip here every summer for years. We loved it. So much fun and we enjoyed the bus ride. Born and raised in a small town in VA between Suffolk and Petersburg. When Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens open we stopped going to Lakeside and started going to KD & BG since it was almost in our back yard per say. So many fond memories. We are all in our 60's now but when we go home and everyone gets together we still talk about the fun we had at Lakeside Amusement Park.
@@ajayy2621 , If you are referring to KD & BG's. Due to covid, KD didn't open at all during the spring & summer for 2020 but I believe they did open during Dec 2020 for Christmas with lights. They announced that they will open for the spring/summer this year, 2021 but that would depend again on the continual spread of the virus. BG did open in 2020 and projected to reopen again this year, 2021.
Thanks so much for posting this. It has some footage that the other videos here didn't have, especially the night shots. I really miss this park. So many great memories....
@@1pukegl1tter_ you're right, I'm sorry. I didn't realize there was another one as I was too busy reminiscing about (and missing) the one featured in this video, in Salem/Roanoke, Virginia. :p
I just thought of the Sky Chairs... I used to scare my GF when they would stop, I would make it swing, and say "it's going to fall".That was mean! I think my family almost went every week during good weather.
Shannon’s brother got killed working over there can’t remember those guys last names but yea he was weed eating through the tracks test run smacked him awful but that’s what happened my first cousin went to school with him here
I would like to get permission to sample this video for a music project of mine. If you are the owner of the video, let me know if this would be alright to do
