I’m pretty sure Tom Bombadil himself would be a massive fan of The Edan Trilogy. 😁 Thank you, Ed and Will, for inviting me to participate in this video. I’m also incredibly grateful for the mentions from you and John, whose gushing about any book I could listen to forever. Hard agree from me about P.L. Stuart too!
As if Tom could get through any book beyond a chapter - _maybe_ a children's book or a book of songs.
@@MagusMarquillin Ha ha! Excellent point! I suspect he might enjoy The Cat in the Hat, for example.
@@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy He might just love Dr. Suess prose, maybe the Lorax - I'd like to give him The Giving Tree just to see what happens! 🤭
He would love the songs for sure! Thanks so much for featuring in the video not once, but twice!
Ed
Heeeellll yes, love seeing Taylor giving my favourite Legacy of the Brightwash some much deserved time in the spotlight! Also, kinda chuckling at the amount of overlap in faves between so many different types of readers, just goes to show the almost universal appeal of these exceptional stories!
I really need to read The Sword of Kaigen then huh 🤔
Great video guys!!
I have a feeling you'd love it!
Ed
This is why videos like this are so great - not only to spread the word for some really well loved authors (which I can't wait to try) and also some new booktubers to subscribe to!
Sorry to be late to the party, but I'm so honored to see The Sundered Nation among these fantastic self-published SFF books. Big thanks to Philip, and to you guys, for all you do for authors and readers--particularly those of us who've self--pubbed. It really makes a big difference!
Loved this video! Thanks for putting it together. Adding things to the TBR….Side note: I really love how your bookshelves behind you always look like they’re in use 😁 Books laying on top, volumes out of boxed sets, etc. Looks like a bookshelf that is loved and used!
They are very used shelves! 😅
Ed
Vaughn Roycroft’s «The Severed Nation» and Professor Chase’s «Edan» Trilogy deserve all the praise they get! I would also add the «Arthurian Age» Trilogy by Sean Poage, easily one of the best Historical Fiction takes on King Arthur I have read! 🤩
Excellent choices!
Ed
This cements the fact that i need to read The Sword of Kaigen. So many people brought that book up. It's already been on my TBR, but I have to bump it up closer to the top now. Awesome video!
Absolutely!
Ed
Fun 🎉 I'm also digging E.L. Montague and Joseph R. Carrel 🙌🏻
Cool list, definitely added to my TBR. Nice video, guys.
Hahah, we added so much to our TBR pile after listening to these pitches. Thanks for watching :).
Will
Great video guys !! Pretty much got all my favs and some new favs as well!Mike,Petrik,2ramble,matts book reviews and new favs with smitty, space out wizard, talking story.I loved Sword Of Kaigen but I do think it is overhyped personally.my fav self published book so far is of darkness and light by Ryan Cahill(haven’t read of war and ruin yet)
Thanks for watching mate!
Ed
OK OK I can take a hint I need to move Sword of Kaigen further up on my TBR .😂😂
😂
Thank you guys again! Really enjoy participating in these and appreciate you both for putting this together - love the Sword of Kaigan love 🥂
Cheers for helping us out guys!
Ed
Love to see all The Sword of Kaigen love - so well-deserved!
Totally agree!
Ed
Wickwire watch is really amazing 🤩😊
The video you didn’t know you NEEDED.
Absolutely great video, guys thank you so much!
Totally agree!
Thanks for watching.
Ed
Great video. My favourite so far is the Godeater saga by Rob J Hayes. It's the trilogy of trilogies. I have read all the Book 1s and they are epic.
Very keen to read these soon.
Ed
Great topic and video! Though I am a bit sad that most booktubers picked an already very successful favorite. I was glad Maed picked Krystle Matar, she is a stellar author.
Other indie authors I think deserves more attention are Sarah Chorn, Michael A. McLellan, Élan Marché & Christopher Warman, HL Tinsley, Adrian M. Gibson and Jennings Zabrinsky.
+ I agree that P.L. Stuart is an awesome guy.
So many for The Sword of Kaigen . . . I'm due to start it this week for the first time, so I hope I enjoy it as much as everyone here did.
I hope so too!
Ed
Another great one and a few books scribbled onto my tbr list. I just realised that, while Dr Philip Chase's trilogy is sitting on my kindle, I still haven't opened them. I think it's time.
Speaking of Tom Bombadil, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Rings of Power season 2
Please read them Gary!
I did try Season 2 but couldn't get through the first 10 mins...
Ed
@@thebrothersgwynne Just finished The Way of Edan and began The Prophet of Edan. Why have I not read these until now. That was fantastic. Truly, epic fantasy at a gut wrenching, nervous, terrifying and brilliant level. One plus side with opening them late, is I have no wait between books.
Fantastic video!! And some great recommendations. I now want to read The Bound and the Broken and Wickwire Watch, asap!!
Thanks for watching!
Ed
Fun to hear from lots of other BookTubers. Nice of so many to participate, and you got some big names - way to go! I noticed one of the sisters was wearing a crop top. Wondering which of you brothers is going to follow suit 😄
So, so kind of people to give their time for this video! Hahah, I think we will have to toss a coin to make that decision...
Will
I didn't get the name of the lady that picked Legacy of the Brightwash.
It was the great @maedbetweenthepages :).
Will
@@thebrothersgwynne thank you 🙌🏻
I’ve read all but five!!🎉
Thanks for the love of the self pubs everybody! Such wonderful positivity. What a time for literature.
Golden age of fantasy for sure.
Ed
love the collab videos !
Thanks so much for the invite guys!
An absolute pleasure! Thank you so much for taking the time to take part, and for adding to our TBR pile....
Will
Great video. My faves are Cahill’s The Bound and the Broken series, Philip Chase’s The Edan Trilogy, and Michael R Miller’s Ascendant series. The Souls Aspect series by Mark Holloway also very enjoyable.
Great choices!
Ed
Some of my fav were already mentioned, but I just wanted to add BATTLEMAGE by Peter Flannery and ILLBORN by Daniel T Jackson. Both are great books, and both are must reads if you haven't already tried them
Two that are HIGH on my list, especially Illborn :). Thanks so much for watching!
Will
My favorite self-pub is the Thorn series by Intisar Khanani. Strong female main character, exciting story, good fantasy - a great series to hand to a young adult but crosses over to be a great read for adults too. Plus Intisar Khanani is an Ohio author and I like to support my home-girls. Elsewise I'd definitely vote for Edan. I expect more great things from Dr. Fantasy in the future. I'm excited to see what he does next.
We definitely need to check Thorn out! I have not heard of it, so that makes me even more intrigued. Definitely agree with Edan! Cannot wait to read his next project.
Will
Apparently I need to crack open my Wraithmark edition of SoK?
I’ve read Cahill’s BotB and agree as it’s a favorite series.
Like John from TS … I love The Wickwire Watch!
Dungeon Crawler Carl! Absolutely LOVE it!!
Ben’s correct! I need to read on beyond Becoming a Druid!
I have a few of the other mentions (Brightwash, Drowned Kingdom, etc) & have now bought Child of the Night Guild.
Great video! What about Illborn?
You do!
Ed
Of war and ruin by Cahill is easily my number one… seems as it’s my favorite book of all time haha
I need to read The Sword of Kaigen asap!
You do!
Ed
The Way of Renegades by Steve D Wall!!!!! On Audible read by Stephen Pacey.
Oh my god! SUCH a good story. Cannot recommend enough.
Loved that aswell. Didn't try the audio though, but I guess you can't go wrong with Pacey.
Haven’t watched the video yet but I’m assuming half of it is Sword of Kaigen and Ryan Cahill?
😄
Called it!
Hahah, you may be correct...
Will
Yeah not even halfway through the video yet and there's already been like 5 recommendations for Sword of Kaigen😃
😂
Thank you for asking me to be a part of this guys! :)
There were a few new ones in this list that have been added to the tbr 👀
Krystle is such a great pick.
Thanks for joining us! The TBR grows...
Ed
@@bernhardrenner5176 thank you! :) her stories are phenomenal 🙌🏼
I now have the audiobooks of Becoming A Druid and Sword of Kaigan on my TBR!
Hope you love them!
Ed
My favorite self pub book series is Cities of Smoke and Starlight by Alli Earnest. It’s steampunk fantasy with hover craft. If you like Rogue One and Pride and Prejudice, you will love this book! The main protagonist uses Shakespeare to insult people. It’s fun!
Thank you for the rec!
Ed
Sword of kaigen going on everyone's MBR - must be read!
Definitely!
Ed
I think i need to read sword of kaigen 😂
Baptiste Pinson Wu - Undead Samurai, is probably my favourite self pub so far.
Cannot wait to get around to that! He is a really great writer.
Will
Echoes Saga
And the winner is the Sword of Kaigen 😂
😂😂
Ed
great video! it would be lovely if the creators' tags would be shown on the video or they were tagged in the description! I'd love to check out some of the content creators featured here but I don't know how to find them 😬 I'm interested in the lady that appears @ 15:06. anyone got their username?
Hey, thanks so much for watching! Apologies, do not know why their details did not appear! We have now made sure they are all in the description :). Sorry about that!
Will
@@thebrothersgwynne thank you! 💖
I am very suprised none of them mentioned James islington's The will of the many
It's not self-published!
Ed
I feel like this video needs an alternative title: Why The Sword of Kaigen is the best, but sometimes Ryan Cahill.
The Sword of Kaigen with a lot of votes!
Popular for a reason! Thank you so much for taking the time to record and send in your video :).
