Debra steps out of the shadows (as if stepping out of a dream) and her Cleopatra is destroyed by a snake. Hmmm. Cleopatra “dies” as if she’s falling into a drug induced sleep. Hmmm. Sh1t this is good

I guess you don’t watch alot of theater. More importantly, we don’t know really what scenes he intended to leave out or not. He initially planned the movie to be 6 hours long before hollywood butchered it and broke his heart.
@@HerEvilTwin No I just took my 4 kids to the theatre 4 or 5 times a year their entire childhood years from 5 to 18, and been to last 2 Ennio Morricone concerts at the 02 London and the One in Nov 2022 conducted by his son, saw Sergio's original cut when it 1st came out at the Odeon Shaftesbury avenue, and everybody is entitled to their opinion, but this is crap.
The way she acts in this scene doesn’t make it unrealistic, because she is playing a character who is mediocre at acting. Her other scenes are convincing enough imo
Wow, I am a big time fan. This is amazing material. Love it!! Should have got a few oscars
Should have SWEEPED the Oscars!
Couldn't agree more! It's cult following is truly the measure of its greatness.
Seems a fitting choice, since death and loyalty (and betrayal) are central themes to the movie.

The capacity that humanity and greed have on the fate of beauty and art.
Elizabeth McGovern in Downton Abbey is finally old enough to film her scenes in Once Upon a Time in America lol
Elizabeth McGovern is convincing as a bad actress.
So if this is a dream, how on earth does Noodles know this monologue to dream it word for word.
logic tends to take a back seat in dreams.
Because Noodles is a reader. He's probably very familiar with this particular passage and it somehow reminds him of Deborah.
It's not a dream

Guys like him would take smoking all the time outside the theater !
