This movie shows how life passes. Moe’s place goes from bustling restaurant surrounded by his own in his youth, to a lowly place that’s ready to go when he is.
Maybe I'm an old soul, but even as a kid I always loved old looking delis and restaurants NOT filled with so many annoying people. The decor, lighting and dark old wood make want to hang out and enjoy time with myself or just one other person.
When I ws a young man, I saw this movie three times a day. Thata's wanderful, like a long long dreem. Sweet, bitter, and.....My best film . I'm very happy to see it. again,.
@@robbie192 the power of gorgeous music , makes the movie look like an opera Sadly they don’t produce does kind of films now were the soundtrack is stunning .
only Sergio could have a simple scene take 6 minutes lol...classic scene 35 yrs later and Mo is still the dutiful friend...kicking out his customer without hesitation...

@@bubabubu5395 moe’s character always appears very friendly and so greeting towards his friends! Equally Moe knew that Noodles was a dangerous man and knows he’s a killer. Although Moe isn’t a gangster himself he associated with them and was almost complicit in their affairs!
@@greatstuff8554 yes he had good/present family and he was "clean" he didn't needed to be a gangster but he still cooperated with them. My point was that noodles goes with Moe,sleeps in his home, acts like a friend and we know what he did to his sister and therefore him and his family in general. Even after Deborahs rape/first opium den.. he goes in Moe's plaice and asks him "you could look for me?" It shows me how disgraceful and bastard noodles was. I don't think Moe knew though
Yeah, this scene, blimey! So I was watching the film start to tell it’s story, as an viewer/audience member would do, and then this scene came…. I admired the visual storytelling without dialogue, but Ennio Morricone’s score absolutely took my breath away! It almost instantly made me cry. Once I heard this theme in all its glory in this scene, I knew that what I was watching was a genuine masterpiece of cinema! The only other time that made me feel like this was Jill’s entrance in ‘Once Upon A Time In The West!’ Again had me weeping! I love John Williams and Hans Zimmer, along with many other composers, but there’s something about Ennio Morricone’s scores that set apart from others for me. The greatest film composer ever I think! RIP ❤️
This film stayed with me since I first saw it 40 years ago. When you get older watching the film again it effects you different. You realise that choices you made when you are young effects your life and you cannot go back in the past as you be chasing a memory
Friends? Business associates? Partners in crime? Family? Which bond is Stronger? Outside Proverbs 18:24 I'd say partners in crime. Can anyone discount this?
The soundtrack is out of this world
It’s the best thing of the movie it makes you feel emotional. When you watch the movie.

Good comment.
The passage of time haunts us all....

Thats why it annoys me when people call it a gangster movie. Its as much about time and friendship.
The milkman knocks once, death knocks twice. Think about it.
One of the most wonderful films the cinema has ever produced !!
Only mr.leone
Truly a work of art!
Also once upon a Time in the West
I agree 👍
true
One of greatest scenes to ever grace a movie screen!!! Brings me to tears on each viewing!!!
Moe was the nicest, most loyal and faithful person in this movie...i don't understand why the world is always so cruel with people like this !!!
He's owner of the restaurant why do you think that life was cruel to him?
He doesn't want power as Max, he was just good person.
Moe loyal untill the grave + noodles real friend.
Moe truly admired Noodles. When Moe finally lays eye son Noodles, he literally turns into a little boy. What a great, great scene!!
When I ws a young man, I saw this movie three times a day. Thata's wanderful, like a long long dreem. Sweet, bitter, and.....My best film . I'm very happy to see it. again,.
It's over 4 hours long. You must not be watching the intended Director's Cut of the movie
@@haromanuel Why ?
@@TheLudwigWan because watching it 4 times a day is unrealistic as hell, nobody in their right mind would do that.
@@akashalbert36 Ok sexy, I get it!
The soundtrack gives me goosebumps always
Emotions so strong in a scene where there is no dialogue.... Near perfect movie
Well put...nothing happens at all in this scene yet we are moved and at the edge of our seats.

Alex Dawson Sergio Leone is the best for no dialogue scenes!
They use the same song over and over in the movie it’s so annoying 1:38
so true

This scene is so perfect. Images and music tell everything.
R.I.P. Ennio Morricone. Without your music, scenes like that would be nothing.
Agreed
Best scene in the best movie with the best music score.
I like the scene near the end when Noodles and Deb reunite and the discovery Noddles makes about Max
Similar to Claudio cardinal train station scene from once upon a time in the west both operatic crane shots
David Lee The score here is very good but the best score is once upon a time in the west.
Love the music.
The camera work and music score is simply...genius
Sergio Leone created great film, but more importantly he created art. There should be an entire art museum dedicated to Sergio Leone.
Love the way that the camera moves in this scene!
It is genius
Moe held onto the family business until the end.
There so much sadness and nostalgia in the air, the music, everything I find it nostalgic.
They spent an entire year making this film...it shows.
And 12 years trying to get the rights to the book and the film written.
Noodles and moe, real frienship as last hope when you are finish....
Muhteşem. Bir. Film. Ne. Kalite. İnsanmış. Sercio. Leone. Rahmet. Diliyorum
Moe was one of the kindest individual in this and noodles years later still treats him like shit.comes in... takes his bed doesn't even say thank you.
well those scenes were noodles' dreams but you are right
@@serhetgokdemir21 that isnt clarified

Noodles in some ways was a better friend than Max ever was
Edit: moe was not noodles

Great movie, great acting, and great score (soundtrack). Don't get much better.
Getting older to me feels like a slap. Time accellerates out of control and when you realize you only have a couple of decades, it's scary
Accelerates is the perfect word
And New York I think is the perfect city to portray this in
Incomparable movie!
One of my favorite scenes Ever!
Two complete different characters but dear friends! Great scene.
Noodles raped his sister, he isn't moes friend.

Is anyone watching this or seen ouatia in 2021, I feel this film is forgotten n I’m wondering if there’s still a fan base?
Absolutely there is. For a while it was on Netflix, unfortunately they took it away now.
The script: They meet.
Sergio Leone:
Once in a while a film and score comes round. Beautiful haunting film and score. Leone and morricone total legends. Respect. Sleep well princes
