    Aside from all of the stoplights I hit on this demo ride, I thoroughly enjoyed myself on this bike. Come along, as I explore the capabilities of the R 1200 R, and get acquainted with the technologies of this sophisticated machine.
    Thanks to A&S Motorcycles for inviting the BMW Demo Truck, so that I could have this experience:

    Hows this bike for tall riders?
    I'm 6'3"

    I don't see myself owning a BMW, but happy to see you test riding them for me. It's always fun to learn all the high tech features that are showing up in new models. That quick shift feature looks pretty cool. Thanks for doing these.

      You are welcome! Yeah, I'd love to see Harley adopt some of these technologies on their new l lines. Especially the safety features, and ride modes.

    Enjoyed the video thanks but couldn't understand why you didn't just go past the guy in front whom you said, I think, was 'killing you'!
    I'm from the UK and was wondering if there is some unwritten rule that says you have to keep in the same order when you go out on bunch demos. I don't even know if we have bunch demos here. I've always gone out on my own or with a mate. 🙂👍

      Thanks. Yes, in the US, passing is considered a "rule-breaker" and can get you banned from future rides. Some brands have somewhat of a "free reign" ride where you just take the bike out on a route, and I've been to one area dealer that didn't even have a route, they just said go out and bring it back when you're done.

      Love to hear that! Good luck to you in your search! It's cool that there seems to be a lot more bikes available for shorter riders now, then there have in the past.

    Do you think the bike would be too small for someone 210lb and 6'0" ?

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  6 років тому

      I think you would need to throw a leg over to be sure, but I think you would be alright. It's a really comfortable bike for someone my height, but I did have to tip toe a bit, so it might be perfect for you. Also, depends on what you're used to. What are you riding now?

    • @cameronbajt4

      that one guy I was an a ZX6R for 3 years, now sold. I just want a jack of all trades bike that is fun, sporty, stylish and comfortable. I don’t want to feel cramped commuting though. Also I think because you’re a little bit shorter that may have been why you experienced such good wind coverage, as I likely wouldn’t be a learned forward. Great review btw, a pleasure to watch.

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  6 років тому

      I was sitting up pretty tall, but yeah, would likely be sitting up straighter and taller. Give it a ride. It really is a great all around bike. The boxer engine takes some getting used, but it really does knock the wind down on your legs well. Ride safe, bud!

    R1200R vs r ninet, which one is better for everyday?

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  5 років тому

      For everyday, personally, I would chose the R 1200 R. I will say, though, that you could use either for daily use and ride comfortably (unless you're talking about the R nineT Racer).

    It never fails that when I go to a demo days somewhere, that I will get stuck behind some rider that has limited skills and can’t get on the throttle to save his life. Drives me insane. In my opinion, whoever is running the demo, they should seek out those particular riders and place them in the back of the group. That way if they do wreck out, they won’t collect a whole lot of bikes. Enjoyed your video. 👍

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  6 років тому +1

      Great points! It's difficult because rides are going out every 20 minutes, and people are coming and going, so they're just putting you out there in groups based on when you signed up. If you've had your license for 1 day, or 30 years it doesn't matter. Anyway, it was still a lot of fun, and you just have to be really mindful of the other riders.

    Great ride and review One Guy. Cannot fault BMW bikes but they just don't quite grab me visually speaking, the R nine perhaps being the prettiest. I have a mini fly screen on my HD 48 i found it keeps the wind off your body and stops you from being pushed back on the seat but the pay off is the wind buffeting around your legs and lower parts of the bike, at speed it is quite scary. Thanks Sir.

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  6 років тому +1

      I agree. Aesthetically, the flat twin is just weird, but performance wise, I was really impressed. As I'm sure you could tell, I was also enthralled by this bike's tech. It's something I'd love to see other companies adopt!
      As for the wind, my first ride on a highway was scary. I felt like I was going to lift off, because of the drag on my jacket. It's something that takes some getting used to, and I'll never forget that feeling.

    you should have passed that slower guy on the freeway as soon as you got on . lean that sucka on the on ramp and get outta 1st gear, i could hear the rpm's go high ,a bunch of buzzing, then you went to 2nd after you straightened up, should have been in 3rd gear when you started to lean it. lean it in there, either your boot tip or the peg feeler is going to touch first. i have a 2015 R1200R with 36k miles on it, and i ride it often doing backroads and 160 mile day rides. the issues so far were 2 batteries replaced under warranty. maintenance done regularly by the dealership i purchased it from. cost was $21k , i am a lousy price negotiator. by the way i am only 5 ft 2 inches tall , but i use the middle option seat at 30 inches ? cause of the comfort, i wear logger boots which give me an extra 3 inches, i have the lower 29 inch seat but i rarely use it, cause of the minimal padding.

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  2 роки тому

      How heavy/comfortable are those boots? Do you feel it's worth the trade-off for the extra height? ✌🏽

    • @willbee8381
      @willbee8381 2 роки тому

      @@thatoneguymoto the boots are not uncomfortable they are a little heavy, but i don't notice it, anyhow, the extra height is always a plus. bringing up the kick stand is always a small challenge since it is mounted way forward of the footpeg and i have short legs, but i manage .also, putting the bike on the center stand is no issue as well as pushing it off the center stand . i envy you taller riders . anyway, i agree that guy in front of you was holding up you and everyone else behind you, and should have waved you on , or you could have simply passed him as passing slower motorcyclist on the road happens all the time.

      that one guy they did have a red one that I test rode but I fell in love with that the Cordoba blue frame. Nearest one available like the one you rode is a couple hundred miles out. Might have to go to Orange county to pick up the one I want. But none the less, you should have seen the surprise on my face when the exact bike I went in to go buy ends up on UA-cam

      So, I'm not sure what rattling you mean. I watched again, and didn't hear anything... Maybe the chain? Maybe it's my helmet?
